Decided to make thread to discuss about this BADASS anime : D Anyone who has watched this till the end knows that this anime pretty much takes everything to ridiculous level and makes it epic. I really like this anime and it's one of those animes that you can just start watching over and over again. Only things that bug me are that ending is disappointing and it lacks story. I highly suggest this to anyone who is pretty new to animes and likes just watch epicness of badassery

I really think that opening "Sorairo Days" is one of my favorite anime openings! The OST (especially Viral's theme) is badass!

For those who are new to this anime, you may have encountered these awesome glasses here: Posted Image

Gurren Lagann is origin of these beauties!

One really fun thing is that I had Gurren Lagann marathon with my friends while ago and then I found one video from youtube which explains our day pretty accurately xD:

"Kick logic out, and do the impossible!"

I loved the series all the way up until the last maybe 6 minutes of the final episode, because I feel that they really didn't need to kill Nia and waste their victory just to make the moral of the story, "Only the future generation benefits from the past actions." Overall great show, just have a major gripe with that ending

I'm in the same boat as you, only my displeasure goes a bit deeper.

To summarize: pretty much after the Team Dai-Gurren was assembled and leading into the time-skip, things started to fall apart. GL's cast to me was at its fullest and didn't need to build up with any more members. Choosing to introduce all those secondary characters just did nothing when most of them were either thrown intot he background or killed off.

The moral established in the ending is troubling, but so is the majority of the story near the end. There's way too much dissonance between the idea of literally throwing logic out the window to tell a good story and the actual act of telling a goody story because, yeah, you still need to be coherent in that aspect to have a measure of quality. That didn't happen with GL, it just sort of got carried away with itself. Stuff like the subplots with the Black Sister who allied with Rossiu, making Yoko and Kittan love interests, some other misc. details with Simon's arc, etc. weren't handled with the greatest of ease.

The saving grace of the show is definetly its first half and its animation but frankly, that's not good enough to call this a great series. It's just really average to me.
