"Father, I finally understand your feelings… The freedom you felt when you chose to die to protect your friends…"
A, uh, tribute for the fallen....
I-If you're a little, um, confused what I mean by that statement....then I suggest you go read the newest manga chapter for Naruto, or more likely, the newest one as of today (12/20/12).
If you already know, then....well...I felt it was just.
Remember back a little awhile ago? Around maybe, uh, between the Hidan and Kazuku Arc and Invasion Of Pain Arc? I think it was back then...well, regardless of when it started, or even if its still prevelent now, I might think...rememeber when we had all those fans complaining about killing off important characters? Well, I'd like to ask those same people, the same people are now sad or even outraged...at what has happened now.
I have to be honest here: Neji was my boy. I-I thought that he was pretty much one of the guys in this series, like, the man. I mean, we have the main cast with Naruto and Sasuke and Kakashi and them...but let's be honest here, without characters like Neji, they're hopeless.
Let's not forget one of Neji's most prominent moments in the series, being his Chunin Exam Arc battle with Naruto. Not only was he was he a proverbial stepping stone for the boy in orange himself, but then after he steppped up in the SRS Arc, he had already grown on us as a fanbase as a great person and of course a great friend.
Now, he didn't get much time in Part II/Shippuden...but hey, I can't say I don't expect more, because, let's be honest, he's a supporting character. He's not supposed to have a lot of screen time. However, he is one of the few characters in this series who I personally believe should--or, I guess...should have...gotten more screen time. He was a great shinobi, always kicking ass, in whatever the battle, whatever outcome was, and no matter who it was he was fighting. Both his fight with Naruto and Kidomaru will always be two of my favorite fights in the series; even the little spots he got with Kisame and that carbon copy was pretty cool, if you ask me.
To conclude...I think Neji will be a missed character for sure. His death was, in it of itself, inspirational as you can see how he's come full circle...from an arrogant and angry lower-branch member of the Hyuga Clan...to a man who is willing to put his life on the line for his comrades.
You did see that Curse Mark fade away in those last few panels, right? I sure did. Now, Neji, you can finally be free from your cage. 17 years of being trapped...and now you can fly like a bird.
(WAY Big Picture, I know...)
R.I.P. Neji Hyuga. Born, July 15. Died, December 18.
Cousin to Hinata, Son to Hizashi, Nephew to Hihashi, Friend to Naruto.
May this fanclub bring together his followers and may his name be remembered in their fan love for him.
