(Like the alliteration in the title? Don't deny it, I know you did ;3)
So, I just finished Re:Coded. I know, I'm a little late on that considering it's nearly been TWO YEARS since it came out. Yeah..I'm lazy Plus I was waiting for my 3ds because my Dsi was a piece of junk. I'm so careful with my stuff
ANYWAYS!!!!1!!!@1111
...I'll just get this over with.
The Story:
The Good:
*cricket chirps*
The Bad:
Let's face it, the story is not one of it's strong points. I find that I still want to believe that the general idea had potential to be good, but this game just comes short. It is, quite literally, the worst KH plot, ever, of all time. Nice work on that one Square, glad you put your whole heart and soul into this one. At the end of the game, I didn't feel like I accomplished anything despite what I knew. It's just like, "Oh, yeah you stopped the bugs and proved you could take the hurt of the other people that you just found about and now nothing really happens, good jorb Data-Zola." I'm trying to search my mind about anything good I can say about the story, but nothing whatsoever comes to mind. Curse my tiny brain :c
The Gameplay:
The Good:
I have mixed feelings about this. I do believe that if there was anything good to be said about the game, it would be this. I enjoyed how the commands worked, and the command combinations were a cool feature. The new variety of commands did manage to add a good combat style to the game. The Clock Gauge also added something interesting to the game. I'm not sure I really used it strategically, but with the right planning it could provide a good advantage during combat.
The Slightly Uncertain:
I think the System Sectors, as well as the challenges for each one, were a good idea; however, I found myself struggling with some of them, a lot. I don't know why, but I just didn't have an easy time with some of them. I guess I'm just a derp.
The Stat Matrix was another iffy area for me. I thought it an interesting way to handle leveling up and controlling your stats, abilities, and gear. But there was one thing that just really irked me: The fact that you couldn't reset the matrix to replace them to your liking. I know you could rearrange them if you had enough extra chips; however, it's ridiculously tedious and it hardly helps me get what I want to accomplish done. There were points that I wanted to lower my level and such, but I couldn't because I didn't have a decent way to remove them. Once again, a great move by our best friend Square-Enix.
The Bad:
One thing, just one thing comes to mind that made me want to rip my face off while playing this game. In Castle Oblivion, during the Hollow Bastion portion. The parkour. The PARKOUR. You had to do that practically perfectly if you wanted to get the Extra World card. Is it a legitimate thing to rate a game by? No, but I don't care
tl;dr version:
The story sucked, the combat and commands were good, there should have been a reset option for the Stat Matrix, and PARKOUR PARKOUR PARKOUR PARKOUR PARKOUR!!!!!!!1!PUPuprqu983048-3u4e-qwdpA8DUpfmdp87
Conclusion:
Will I be playing more of this? Maybe, but not for a while, I need a break from this game. I'll probably be playing KH3D next.
