I really don't understand why MYX traveled with Sora to the past ? What did he want to show him ? This whole journey confused me . Flaming Lea help me out here .  You have swallowed the whole stories and wikias of these games so you will have a good answer....

I think it might have been to show him how long they've been plotting against him and to try to make him feel like everything was hopeless. Also, when he came to The World That Never Was, Sora landed in the real version of it. After Young Xehanort had dragged him around Destiny Island, further to Traverse Town and then to The World That Never Was again he had sent Sora back into a dream again.

He didn't time travel .He was trapping Sora in a nightmare and dragging him into the deepest abyss of sleep so he could never wake up. In the nightmare he was showing Sora how everything was predestined to happen every step of the way in the past - like in flashbacks/visions .
