Multiplayer- Long Matches vs Short Matches

Posted

So I just wanted to know if you prefer long matches like the ones in such games as Battlefield or short matches like in Call of Duty. Short matches I mean around 5-30 minutes and long matches is anything from there.

I hate online multiplayer, but it does depend which game it is though.

I don't really play online multi-players matches, but I'd say 5-30 minutes.  I don't have a lot of time and would hate to be in a match for 3 hours then having to leave before it was over.

The longest I spent in a online multi-player game (which wasn't a match, we were a crew of 6 battling enemies through a cave) was when I was on a tuna run (attunement run, to skip the yellow maze and go straight to the green) and was 13 hours.  I was up all night 'cause most my crew was american, so in a different time zone.  I'd never do it again ,_,

I dont really care as long as I have fun 8D

Reminds me of Action Replay nintendo .-.

I prefer multiplayer matches that go from 10 minutes to 20. In PS All-Stars Battle Royale, it's pretty annoying to wait until you find opponents and then match is over in 3 minutes. Then you have to wait for other opponents. Or CS global offensive, arms race missions are way too short for me.

But too long matches like those 1000% ticket server in battlefield are too long and boring and for example maps like Thunder Mountain in TF2 can take forever if teams are even.

LONG MATCHES FTW!!!!

This. It takes such a long time to get a good Lobby in L4D and L4D2 and sometimes the campaign is so short because of rage quitting etc. it's not even worth it.

Yeah L4D2 is on it's best when you just play with your friends.. I usually don't go in random lobbies, but especially Versus modes are annoying when people are raging for no reason and then quit even if their death was their own fault

If a zombie apocalypse ever does happen, I'm hoping those people will be infected.

30 minutes is short? :O I guess short matches then. xD

It depends greatly on the pacing of the game. Slower paced games work well in a long match setting as there is a lot more build up but leads to a climatic and spectacular end to the match. Games that are meant to be more faced past need to have short matches or else it becomes really tedious to both play and watch. Games that work well with long matched aren't fun to play if it ends too quickly and vice versa with shorter games.

I prefer longer games if I have the time for them. Just keep in mind when I mean "long game" I mean a match that can last 30 minutes to several hours.  Even if the game is ultra-competitive I like the idea that I can take my time and not have to be constantly spamming my mouse clicks and hotkeys.

If you play MMOs you will find yourself more accustomed to long games, especially if you are doing a raid or besieging a rival clan's base. These days I may find myself playing Planetside 2 on a Saturday for 6 hours straight. Spending several hours organizing with my troops, mobilizing and then fighting.

I like to count 30 minutes as short .-. Generally it is short I guess cause when I was deciding what times I should do for short and long I just compared the longest COD match Ive done to the longest Battlefield match x3
