Keyblades are looking less & less like keys

Posted

Now, I love all the keyblades; they're all good in their own way, especially aesthetically. What I'm trying to say is that the KEYblades are starting to look way off from a key.. I'm not implying the designers are not creative, but I guess I just want simpler designs, is all. I love Ventus' Keyblade, the Wayward Wind, because of its simple key-based design. What do you guys think?

An example of one that looks far off is Terra's Chaos Ripper. I love its color scheme and design, but its... not a key.

Kingdom Key doesnt even look like a key.

It's close enough compared to other keyblades.

Or you're trolling lol

i'm saying that keyblades never really did look like keys all that much in the first place.

To be fair, most Keyblades doesn't look like keys, even in the earlier days. It's hard to make a key look like an intimidating weapon. I'm not sure if we're getting "more" commercial weapon designs for Keyblades though.

Idk, but they're starting to look less and less like anything that resembles a key. Yeah, Kingdom Key doesn't really look like a key, but it's simple and at least resembles an actual key.

Sure, I guess I contradicted myself, thanks for showing that, but I want to say that it resembles a key more than most others.

I think that earlier Keyblades slightly looked more more key-like in the vaguest of sense but not enough that I would know they're supposed to be keys if I saw them for the first time unless it's one of the more obvious ones like Kingdom Key. I don't think we're getting more "weapon like" ones, just ones that lose that vague key shape they had. imo, the ones in 3D look more "roundish" and less shapely but not more like a stranded weapon. Most of the Days ones look legitimately intimidating though.

Yeah, I guess I can agree with you on that. I was mostly thinking of BBS's keyblades, because those seem to be, for the most part, far off from looking anything like a key. Maybe I should rename the thread.

I agree. Posted Image

Edit: just realized I guess it depends on the type of key they were trying to represent.

"Keyblades Looking Less Key Like" or some variation?

Roflmao! Actually, it's not far off from a car key if you look at one top-view...?

Yeah, lol I realized when I posted it and so I edited my post.

If you compare them all to the Kingdom Key, then yes, they'll look less like keys, but I can see the key in most of them.

I'm glad they're changing the design.

...I mean, who's gonna be intimidated by a giant firetrucking key ?

I cause inspiration! :D

The most lethal of all Keyblades:

If you you have lactose intolerance. BbS had Chaos Ripper, one of the more intimidating looking Keyblades in the game, but at the same time it had some of the goofiest and daintiest.

Well, I am a hedgehog so they aren't meant to look like me.

They still kinda resemble Keys to me but of course have their differences.

Yeah they are running out of keyblade ideas.

I liked more the ones that really resemble a key (like the kingdom key) and the ones that resemble a sword ( like the ultima weapon ;) )
for something is called keyblade.

My personal favorite is Oblivion it has a good design.

The only keyblades that ever resembled an actual key is a the Kingdom Key, and Fenrir.

When I first played KH2, I didn't even know that Riku's weapon a keyblade. Riku's keyblade just looks like Soul Eater with one wing...

Huh? Chaos Ripper looks MUCH more like a key than Ven's. Take a car key and compare them...

lol I knew from the second I saw the handle and keychain.

I think it's the worst looking keyblade in the series. They should've taken more time with it. At least make it look more like a keyblade.

I have literally the exact opposite opinion. It looks enough like a keyblade to me...In my opinion, I think it's the best looking one so far. Come on, you gotta admit it's better than the FUGLY Gullwing lol, if not you're trolling. Fact. :P

Ok, Gullwing is ugly. But Sora and Mickey's keyblade is better than everyone else's. It's simplistic, yet cool looking.
