Morality system in Kingdom Hearts?

Posted

Not saying it's a good or a bad idea. I just wondered what KH would be like if we could choose a good/bad ending ((basically like a western rpg)). They did it in epic mickey (...sorta..>_>) so I don't see how KH couldn't have one. I think one positive thing could be that players would get the chance to interact with the cut scenes more and some replay value. And you know, it wouldn't even have to be Knights of the Old republic or Jade empire...we could have something like from Tales of Symphonia where you bonded with your party members and it changed the story ((not very much..,but enough to make me want to play the game...like...10 more times)) but not the ending. But I guess con would be KH is not that kind of game to begin with, so incorporating one could difficult. And then if you made a sequel, how would we know which ending is canon and what not.

Just an idea. I wanted to hear your thoughts about it. ;D

((sry if a thread like this all ready exists...))

I don't think they'd have that in any kh games for a while at least if they do. Especially with Disney being involved.

Not one starring Sora. His Moral Compass points way too far North to allow for a morality system while staying true to his character.

It wouldn't work out quite as smoothly with the storyline which is already confusing enough, though I do think it hits you harder in games when you are responsible for outcomes.  The first time I played Kingdom Hearts, my friend had me convinced that everything that you did would affect whether or not you got a good ending, and that mentality made everything I did more meaningful those first few hours.  Then I found out they were just teasing me, but still.

It'd be cool, but it might not work out.  The point of multiple endings is to give you control of the outcome.  As KH is an ongoing story, multiple endings would be a moot point since future entries would have to rely on the "real" ending, which, with KH's themes, would be good by default.  However, I can see how it would be interesting.  Yes, Sora's moral compass is too far north, but that doesn't mean he could avoid a bad outcome.  The game could surprise you by showing the actions you thought were good had serious repercussions, and wouldn't be apparent until it happened.  It could utilize some epic foreshadowing, and it would have to because you know Sora's gonna do the right thing, and not doing so would go against his character.  Sadly, KH isn't a series where the players have control, fanservice like Axel coming back notwithstanding.  People would complain about people changing things, anyway, just like they complain about any change.  It'd be interesting to see how it would work out, though.

that would have suited Riku back at kh1 or terra but not Sora xD

This, maybe something like how much you let Donald and Goofy get owned could affect your relationship value like SSB in an effort try to emulate what ToS did.

Probably this too, unless there's a time skip after Kh3.

Your friend is an asshole.

I think that's true for all multiple ending type games. I would guess it would be the same as in Epic Mickey 2, never played it though.

This, like Draco said it would be strange adjusting to being able to choose the "Evil" options after playing a whole saga of Sora though. The closest we got was Terra vs. Peter Pan which I enjoyed alot, but kidnapping princesses and stealing hearts would feel weird to me.

i think we all know whats going to happen in KH3 so itd be pointless to do otherwise, for now. maybe in future KH games they could try implementing this idea and maybe it could be a huge succes or just a massive failiar. but that all depends on the future games. as of now no.

I can't see that happening. I just think it's best if KH sticks with a straight storyline.
