As you all know, in the secret episode, there are two lines shown: "The darkness awakens" and "The light in the darkness leads to the last key". What I understand is "the darkness awakens" means the return of Master Xehanort, Aqua is "the light in the darkness" and Kairi is "the last key". The part I do not understand is this (in bold lettering): "The light in the darkness leads to the last key". I don't understand what is meant in the line. Can any of you help me understand that?

Aqua is a light in the darkness used to find Ven (the last key) at least that's how I took it.

Aqua gave Kairi her keyblade? I dunno.

Enjoy your multiverse of questions until KH3. :D

I took it as Aqua is the light that gave them the last key because Kairi got the accidental keyblade inheritance from Aqua. I could be totally wrong though which I think I might be

Aqua gave Kairi her Keyblade.

Could also refer to the fact that Aqua is the only one who can lead to Ventus, I'm not sure.  <--- Though he wouldn't be last, not necessarily.

Well, there is more than one way to take it

The light within darkness is definitely Aqua, but she could be the one that brings back Ventus (because she's the only one that can find him in Castle Oblivion), or it could have meant that she's the one that lead the last key (who would be Kairi for now) by accidentaly giving her the power to summon her Keyblade

But those are just theories... Again, we have to wait to be sure =S

I think this likely is more a generic message that hints at the coming of the second Keyblade War in which the 7 lights and 13 darknesses clash -  as a result of which the X-Blade is formed. As this has been the intent of Xehanort all along, I think that's the most logical interpretation as things stand. Knowing Nomura though, there are likely some kind of underlying hints which is what is coming out here. It's all just clever wording.

I honestly didn't even notice this when I watched the secret episode, and I don't care to go look for it on youtube to sure either. Looking at it now, it's probably the Xehanort->Aqua->Ven theory.

I think all the interpretations have been covered and they all sound feasible so this one's a toughie. All though since the line "The light in the darkness leads to the last key" corresponds with the scene where Kairi is brought in I'm mostly leaning on that it meant that it was because of Aqua they got the last wielder in the group. But at the same time bringing it up like that seems kind of...pointless?

I think the Ven theory is about as likely.

There was a secret episode?
