I know Pokemon Yellow has some references from the anime.....like how Pikachu is your starter and how you obtain all Kanto starters from NPC's in the game.....but those are already a part of Red's Team

 

My question is about Jessie and Jame's appearance in the game.....Are they considered canon???..Did Red really meet Jessie and James or only Pokemon Red & Blue are canon???????

Yellow was only made to be an anime tie-in, so no. It's about as canon as Ash existing in the games.

It resembles a lot of anime aspects and from what I remember Red never meets Jessie and James.

Jessie and James never appeared in Red and Blue (Green).

Pokemon Yellow is meant to be a pokemon game based on the indigo Plateau season (well not truly).

I've played Pokemon Yellow

and Red's Pokemon when you battle him in HGSS are exactly the same Pokemon you obtain in Yellow:

 

You start with a Pikachu

 

You obtain all three Kanto starters from NPCs

 

You can obtain a Lapras from the Silph Co, bulding after you beat Giovanni

 

You can catch a Snorlax

 

and if you asked about Red's Espeon in Gold and Silver,that's the Eevee you obtain in Celadon City

 

 

Also,Yellow is the same as Red and Green only with few anime references since you face the Elite four at the end unlike the anime where Ash failed miserably against Rechi in the tournament.

 

The only thing that confused me is Jessie and James's appearance in the game.........

It's possible, but it doesn't really matter. Nobody has ever played Yellow exactly the same way as someone else. And that means the Pokemon, and possibly the people Red encountered as well is up for debate.

It'd be an interesting idea if Red did indeed meet Jessie and James. The johto games, I guess, could make one ponder it...
