Fire Emblem Recommendation Please?

Recommended Posts

So Wizard was so bored today and decided to jump back to her favorite handheld, the DS. First things first, Wizard loves Turn-based RPGs/ Tactical games.

Much obviously ones like Pokemon and FFT A/A2.

Thus Wizard stumbles upon Fire Emblem. And Wizard only happens to see Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon and Wizard hears that it's a remake of the first game. (looked up a review from CGUndertow didnt really seem pleased)

So can someone tell me what 'order' the series has and which one's the best from the series?

Thanks in advance! :3

Very few of the original games have been released outside of Japan. From what I can gather, this is the order of the ones that have been:

(FE1)Shadow Dragon(DS)

(FE7)Fire Emblem(GBA)

(FE8)Fire Emblem-The Sacred Stones(GBA)

(FE9)Fire Emblem-Path of Radiance(GC)

(FE10)Fire Emblem-Radiant Dawn(WII)

(FE11)Fire Emblem-Awakening(3DS)

As for any recommendations, I myself have only played one of them, The Sacred Stones. I personally found it very fun and addicting, and I can only imagine that the other Fire Emblem for the GBA is much the same. So, if you can, you might want to start with those. I've also heard a lot of great things about Awakening, so check that out if you have the time. But really, you don't actually need to go in any concrete order when playing these games, since they don't follow any real continuity.

Note: FE10 is the only game in the series that is a real sequel, it occurs after the events of FE9.

Okay, get ready for wall o' text, but stick with me Shera, and we can get through this together.Fire Emblem: Dark Dragon and Sword of Light (FC)Fire Emblem (2): Gaiden (FC)Fire Emblem (3): New Mystery of the Emblem (half remake of FE1, half new game) (SFC)Fire Emblem (4): Genealogy of Holy War (SFC)Fire Emblem (5): Thracia 776 (SFC)Fire Emblem (6): Sword of Seals (GBA)Fire Emblem (7): Flaming Sword (This is the first English released one, just called Fire Emblem) (GBA)Fire Emblem (8 ): Sacred Stones (GBA)Fire Emblem (9): Path of Radiance (GCN)Fire Emblem (10): Radiant Dawn (Wii)Fire Emblem (11): Shadow Dragon (remake of FE3 Book 1, which in itself is a remake of FE1) (DS)Fire Emblem (12): Heroes of Light and Shadow (remake of FE3 Book 2) (DS)Fire Emblem (13): Awakening (3DS)Okay, that's the "official" release order. However, every game before FE7 (and FE12) weren't localized, so they're only available in their native Japanese. The "best" one for me personally is Genealogy of Holy War, however you'd have to either buy an SFC cart or play a translated ROM *cough**cough*.However, for the official English ones, I'd say Fire Emblem is the best starting out point. However, Shadow Dragon works just as well. I know some people hate FE11, but it's just because it's a straight up remake of FE3 Book 1, so it doesn't have a lot of functions of the newer games like Support Conversations and the like. On its own, it's absolutely a fun game. Most of the games share continuity with another installment, so it's kind of like Final Fantasy if those games had arcs across different games. But anyway, it goes:FE1 / FE3 Book 1 / FE11 - FE3 Book 2 / FE12 (and FE2 is ~kind of~ in there somewhere)FE4 (1st part) - FE5 - FE4 (2nd part)FE7 - FE6FE9 - FE10FE8 and FE13 are stand-alone games

Pretty much this.  I've tried Shadow Dragon, but didn't really like it much.  Awakening is AMAZING though; I'd highly recommended.  Unfortunately, my DS Lite died before I managed to play any of the GBA versions.
