Why is metal/heavy metal so misunderstood and hated

WHY, WHY MUST IT BE THAT WAY!

I'm alright with metal though I don't listen to it often

Because some of us prefers classical instruments and/or a soft voice instead of screaming and an electric guitar trying to shatter my eardrums. On the other hand though, if I'm trying to get my blood pumped, then I know nothing does it better than metal.Dubstep is just... Look, what two fax machines do to each other is their own personal business. I don't need to hear it.

I like metal, but I absolutely dislike bands that "growl" or make those super deep voices.

This is real metal m/

Metal has never been a pop gnera or anything at all. Its always been the underdog or something that is made of misfits and what not.

there's some songs i would listen to but i dont listen to heavy metal often

Sometimes Heavy Metal is misunderstood and hated, and I agree with that.  I listen to Heavy Metal, but don't listen to the super deep demonic sounding voices, because I just get creeped out if I hear that.  I love System of a Down, it's so epic and crazy, but they're songs are just so awesome to listen to! :D

In the old days they used to believe that it was " The Devil's music " so it's been hated because when it was new, people didn't understand it and hence it became misunderstood. Using a Satanic symbol as a sign for " Rock on " ! Didn't help matters much. There was a good documentary about it a while ago, I wonder if it's still around.
