Is the Wii U the start of the next generation, or is taking after it's predecessor? In terms of its hardware, the first Wii was closer to Gamecube/PS2/XBox, but in terms of when it came out, it was alongside the PS3/360.
Same goes for Wii U. Technically speaking, it is with the PS3/360 in it's hardware, but it comes in at the tale end of this current gen, making it closer to Next Gen at the time of it's release... it's just confusing. They released an old-gen system alongside the current, and released a current alongside the next. And it's not like Nintendo is behind, so much as their timing is way off. It's bizzare.
