A new Batman game called Batman: Arkham Origins has been officially announced and is going to release Fall 2013 (October 25) for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC.

This time Warner Bros Montreal is developing the game and not Rocksteady Studios but not to worry because...

"WB Montreal has full access to Rocksteady's custom modified Unreal engine to capture the look and feel of the Arkhamverse."

There's also a handheld spin-off called Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for PS Vita and 3DS. It's a 2.5-D Metroid-style game developed by Armature Studios.

Update:
Kevin Conroy will NOT be voicing Batman. It will be Roger Craig Smith, who has previously played Ezio from Assassins's Creed, Chris Redfield from Resident Evil and Sonic the Hedgedog. Troy Baker will be the voice actor for Joker.

Kevin Conroy will voice Batman in Arkham Origins confirmed! http://batman-news.com/2013/05/19/kevin-conroy-says-he-will-voice-batman-in-batman-arkham-origins-video/

Yeah! I think Co-op will work much better than the multiplayer.

I don't really see how fitting the Free Flow system for more than one person is going to work out... it might be a little all over the place if we judging this by the current standards of the system, i.e. Asylum and City.

Well we'll see. There's always a possibility.

Yeah, I think it could work if it could get some tweaks here and there.

I just heard that Kevin Conroy may or may not be returning for the role of batman, because they want someone who sounds "less experienced"? The more I hear about this game, the less good it sounds x.x

Poo. I mean, there have been other voice actors that have done well voicing Batman, but Kevin Conroy IS the voice of Batman. *Sigh* I mean, if they were starting from scratch on a Batman series, I can understand wanting some one different to voice Batman. But Conroy has been in the other two Arkham games. No reason to replace him now.

Damn that sucks!  :O I just hope the new guy they will take will have a similar or possibly a better voice than the original voice of Batman compared with Kevin Conray. Voice of Batman is a major thing in the game and the series itself and if they screw it up then *BOOM* the game will be undoubtedly turn out to be bad.

If they get Troy Baker or Bruce Greenwood to do it, that'd be nice. Remember, this is a prequel, so it'd make sense for Batman to sound younger.

  • 2 weeks later...

With the third game in the Batman: Arkham series coming up, lots of fans (including myself) are already speculating on the baddies that we, as Batman, will either lay the everloving smackdown on, or at least interact with, in Origins.

We've seen that Black Mask is going to be the head villain in this game, and that Deathstroke and a younger looking Penguin are going to make an apperance too. Though, that's about it if we're talking about official villains.

However, if you take a look see here, I think you might be convinced otherwise:

So, it looks like we might see some familiar faces that we've already seen take a pretty good role in both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

There are three baddies that I have in mind myself:

1. The Joker - Obviously, considering he's not dead (yet) and he is one of Batman's most notorious, and pretty much his best, villains that the Caped Crusader has ever faced in his rouge's gallery. Now, following the story arc this game seems to be taking, which is mostly Batman: Year One, it's possibly to see the Clown Prince Of Crime somewhere in this game, though most likely near the end of the game itself. But, maybe, we'll see the origins of the Joker himself, as in Batman sending him, most likely in his Red Hood persona, into a vat of chemicals during some kind of mission. It's possible. The Red Hood transformation into the Joker DID occur during Batman's early years.

2. Scarecrow - This is my odds on favorite to be in the game. I mean, he was fantastic in Asylum, and I was so hoping he would be the main villain in Arkham 3, ala the Riddler hint left in the game, as well as all the other clues regarding Dr. Johnathan Crane. His apperance could be confirmed through connection to the Long Halloween arc, which could also be placed into the game's story, thanks to Carmine Falcone. One thing's for sure: if he returns, I'm gonna have to make a pact to play this game with the lights on. Always...

3. Bane - Obviously I can't count out the big. hulking brute with the bear and the venom, now can't I? lol That's right. THAT'S the Bane I love. Not the water down Nolan version. The only thing that guy's got going for him is catchphrases... anyways... it's sort of a mixed bag whether or not we will see Bane in this game. At the point in time in the game, I'm pretty sure he's a little off from meeting Batman for the first time... or maybe I'm getting my comic book arcs confuzzled. o.0  Anyways, it'd still be nice to see him in the game, and maybe, just maybe, we'll see the infamous "Break The Bat" scene be played out.

That's about it for me. Any other villains I didn't mention that have already appeared in the Arkhamverse, well, I don't really have anything to report. Some special shout outs go to guys like Killer Croc, Calendar Man, and Catwoman, as they all have possible roles in the game based on the basic groundwork that the game has already established in so little time.

I played all batman games with lights off...

The only time I shat bricks was Arkham City when I found Scarecrow's hideout. I had Turtle beach X31 set on highest volume (DHH, like to hear wth is going on.) and went to the end of the ship and I was never the same again....

I have a feeling the ending of BAO is going to be when Joker captures the mayor or something and ends up going to Arkham Asylum, beginning the first arkham game.

You never know there might be more games based before AA so AO wont lead up to AA.

Joker will be there. No doubt of that for me. Scarecrow I'd really like to be in there. He's one of my favorites. And I'm pretty indifferent to Bane being in it.

Kevin Conroy will NOT be voicing Batman. It will be Roger Craig Smith.

``Well, this is awkward.

Warner Bros. has officially confirmed that Kevin Conroy will NOT be starring as Batman in Arkham Origins. Apparently, while Conroy is providing voice talent for the game, it won't be as the Caped Crusader. Which is odd.

Instead, the honour goes to Roger Craig Smith, who has previously played Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed, Chris Redfield from Resident Evil, and Sonic the Hedgehog.``

What is this going on? First no then yes then no again? I don't understand.
