*Possible BBS Spoilers*

 

I believe The Dark Guardian is the Darkness from Eraqus.  Before he passed into Terra he said that his heart too is darkness.  And also he said if you do not have it in your heart to obey you must share Ventus' fate.  Who do we know thats made out of darkness and does nothing but obey........no not Vanitas.  THE DARK GUARDIAN.  The only reason why MX summoned him when he became Terrnort is because he couldnt before.  Eraqus' heart is within Terra so that gave him the ability.  Not to
mention the shocking resemblance between the antennas and Eraqus' hair.  Also the white wrap x in his clothing looks strikingly familiar to the ones garbing the Dark Guardian.  Thats just my belief on the whole matter.  Lemme know what you think!

What is it?

Only info i know that might counter that is MX hadnt realized Eraqus was in him until the blank points scene but maybe he was pulling the darkness out unaware of it origin? i dunno man this always gets me in this never ending thought process.

Fascinating theory. Now we just have to wait until KH3 to find out if it's true or not.

I personally believe that it is the hold Xehanort/Ansem have over Terra.

and since they wont start it until Versus 13 is done.....i think its safe to say we will never get this answer

Eraqus always seemed to associate the term light and darkness as right and wrong. So, I never really took the "Perhaps my own heart is darkness" line to be literal. I see it more as Eraqus coming to the realization that he was so obsessed with doing what was right that he let it cloud his judgement. Pretty much saying that in his strive to always do what's right, he lost sight of what was most important and went about things the wrong way.

 

Just because Master Xehanort never summoned the Guardian doesn't mean that he couldn't. It does seem like he was toying with Terra the whole time. I am pretty sure Master Xehanort didn't give that battle everything he had. He wasn't trying to defeat Terra. He was trying to bring out his darkness before making him his vessel.

 

I'm not sure about the "X" on the guardian and Eraqus. There are a lot of X's on many character's clothing. It's kind of the thing in Kingdom Hearts.

 

The antennas look a lot like the Neoshadow's antenna. Actually, the guardian's head retty much looks like a Neoshadow.

 

 

 

I've always thought of the Guardian as Xehanort's darkness put into form.

I think it's more likely that the Guardian is the manifestation of Terra's heart rather than Eraqus. It kind of shows in the way he reaches out desperately to Riku when you defeat Ansem, but retreats when he lifts the keyblade.

That could be but blank points makes me think he couldn't do anything with his heart.

I like this idea, at least specifically being Terra's darkness; that also fits for BBS when you fight Terranort as Aqua. Even if its not literal, I feel that it still acts symbolically; I suppose it could just be any heartless, although there's no fun in that...

I thought the Guardian is just the guy's shadow heartless. 

I have no idea who or what it could be, but I do find it strange that it reached out to Riku, however it had no problem attacking Riku in the room where nothing gathers after you defeat young xehanort. I find it hard to believe that it is just some heartless guardian, that's just boring.

The Dark Guardian is the darkness from Terra-Xehanort's heart put into physical form. It's Xehanort's darkness and Terra's darkness combined.
