well...we now officially have a total of ONE cases in Montgomery County.

So that makes 7 cases total in Maryland.

Which means two things:

1) Hopefully someone at our school will catch it from whoever the person is who has it in our area and our schools will be closed BEFORE exam week.. *crosses fingers*

OR

2) Someone will catch it AFTER exam week. >.>

 

soooo yeah, we're screwed.

What's killing us is that we're soooo close to NYC (New York City), and last time I checked they had almost 50 cases of the swine flu...

Swine flu is just like a normal flu. It turns out that it isn't as deadly as we first thought-- the mortality rate is pretty much the same as a normal flu. The only reason so many people died in Mexico is due to their lack of health care. And, it turns out that only 27 people had died from the flu (all Mexicans).

..atleast they closed all the public areas so more people dont get infected

I live in Texas, where aparently its SOOO BAD here. pfft. we've had ONE real case in my city, and only a few in others. And only ONE little kid has died. I'm sorry for the loss, but he wasn't even really a citizen. He was brought here from Mexico. Schools around my city have closed 'cept for my district. We're not crazy. We don't want to cancel school, four weeks BEFORE FINALS. Fehhh.

I say "Awwe Phooey!" to the swine flu, take care of yourself, wash your hands, proper hygeine(sp? o.o) and live your life. ^^

It's not that they got it wrong and thought it was deadly... it's just that the deadliness of the disease was unknown, so they assumed the worst.

*edit*...but on the brightside/downside if I did have it school would be canceled in a heartbeat. LOL Which I actually don't wanna happen. We'll forget everything right before finals and they'll rush teaching us material, and reviewing old stuff.
