This is something that is honestly starting to tick me off. People are saying that because the PS4 has been announced now the PS3 is done. No more games for it. KH2.5 will come out for PS4. Etc. Etc. 

The PS2 just went out of production this year and had made games years after the release of the PS3. No doubt that the PS3 will probably do the same. The PS4 will just be coming out when 2.5 gets announced so it will be PS3. As for KH3 it won't necessarily be PS4 only. 

 

A popular argument:

If Versus gets finished soon as many are speculating for E3, then KH3 should be out in a couple years. That's about the equivalent of 2008 for the PS2 at which point it was still going pretty well and getting multi-platform games made for it. So, if anything, KH3 will most likely be PS3 and PS4.

KH3 has to be on PS3 aswell as PS4. I mean come on, IT'D BE A HUGE MIDDLE FINGER TO US IF THEY DON'T HAVE ONE NEW MAIN TITLE GAME ON PS3 AND JUST SKIPPED DIRECTLY TO PS4. KH 1 and 2 both came out on PS2, and all we get for PS3 are Remasters of those games, but not a new title?(I know they're Final Mix, but still!) Come on Square. You can't just skip a whole generation of Playstation Console with no new Main Title game and just go to PS4 alone. Besides, that'll just piss off more people who dont wanna buy the PS4 even for just KH3. Not to mention the fact that Nomura stated in the first place. HE SAID THAT HE WANTED ALL OF THE XEHANORT SAGA GAMES ON ONE CONSOLE. THAT'S THE WHOLE DAMN REASON WHY THE REMIX'S ARE ON PS3 AND HE ISN'T WAITING FOR PS4 TO COME OUT AND PUT THEM ON THERE. GET WITH THE PROGRAM PEOPLE!!! He wants to put KH3 on PS3, not PS4. The only reason he might go back on his word is because of Versus. But if by some miracle at the next reveal for Versus that they have maybe a possible release date, then there's a greater chance of KH3 being Multiplatform. Besides, more people will have PS3's than PS4's, since some of us will still be saving up for the new console anyway. Not to mention, they'd make more money if it was Dual Console release. All they'd have to do is develop KH3 for PS3 with Crystal Tools, and then release it for PS3 and port it to PS4, which could easily handle the game maybe even better than PS3. I agree with Weiss completely. Just because PS4 is coming, doesn't mean that KH3 will be only for PS4. There are many things that point that it could be a Multiplatform release.

Ive never actually realised this because as you said about there being no main title on the PS3. But what if they are actually not planning any main titles for PS3, and they are making up for that with KH 1.5? Maybe they dont plan at all on putting a main title on the PS3?

I agree with your points. This is very possible, but there is still a chance of KH3 being on PS4. It just depends on which console Square thinks the game will thrive best on. 

I've been lurking on these forums for awhile now, and this thread gave me reason to make an account and start posting.

 

There are many things to consider when figuring out what console it'll be on.

 

1. Just because the PS2 had an incredibly long life cycle doesn't mean the PS3 will. This has pretty much been proven by most other console manufacturers. Microsoft pretty much dropped all support for the original Xbox when the 360 came out, and same for the Gamecube when the Wii came out. The PS2 lasted so long because of the slow adoption rate of the PS3

2. The architecture of the PS3 and the PS4 are completely different, meaning cross compatibility will be incredibly difficult. The PS4 will be using legit computer parts, based off an X86 CPU. The PS3 was not, at all. I don't want to get into details, but this will most likely be the reason why the PS4 will not be backwards compatible

3. It'll be a bigger middle finger to people if Versus 13 doesn't come out on the PS3 than if Kingdom Hearts 3 will be. Versus 13 has been in development FOREVER. Sony thought the PS3 would still be going strong, but they didn't count on how fast it would become outdated. Kingdom Hearts 3 hasn't even begun to be developed, so it would make little sense to make it for an outdated console just to make fans happy.

4. People say they should make it for the PS3 because the PS4 isn't selling well and they'll make more money if it is for the PS3. I can pretty much garuntee that once they begin development, Sony will sign a deal with Square Enix to make it on the PS4. Why? Because this game alone will sell PS4s. I know, I switched from being a console gamer to a PC gamer, and I will still shell out $$ to buy a PS4 when Kingdom Hearts comes out. I did it for the PSP and the 3DS, I'll do it again.

No, it doesn't mean it will have a long one but at the same time it doesn't mean it will have a short one either. We don't know yet. That's why it's silly for people to think the PS3 is already dead. We know nothing about it's life yet so it's useless to say it's dead.

True, but it is the reason why they make new consoles, and releasing a highly anticipated game as an exclusive for that console would make the console sell like hot cakes

The PlayStation 3 is currently the best video game console on the market. Seriously. The Wii U doesn't have a whole lot going for it. And it terms of storage the PS3 is better than the Wii U.
