I recently had a with a classmate of mine about being gay

Apparrantly, Gays have to wear tight jeans, have a high pitched lisping voice, v-necks, and a certain hairstyle

While Lesbians must cut their hair short, baggy clothing, and talk in a deep voice to show their orientation

Is this right? Because I don't see myself talking all in a lisping voice actually, or wearing any form of clothingDo I really need to be a certain way to show who I am? I'm here with my regular "Straight" voice with "Straight" clothing, yet im gayThis is like saying Blacks are gangsters that rap everywhere they fricken goOr how Asians are math geniuses who will become doctors in their first year of med school/endrant

Oh, society...

No surprise. We even have stereotypes for things we never saw and don't know if they actually exist or not, like Aliens.

But that's all they are; just stereotypes. I have 3 gay uncles and 1 lesbian sister - none of them fit those stereotypes, and to be honest I never would have known if they didnt just casually say it.

While of course there are many gay men like that, and there are many lesbians like that, it's just a stereotype, and those things never go away, lol. If I were you I wouldn't get worked up about it. You are who you are, and you don't need to "show" anybody at all. It's like when some people see a well-dressed man and say, "Oh, he's totally gay!" or when they see a nicely dressed woman with a pixie cut and automatically assume she's a lesbian. They're just stereotypes, nothing more, nothing less. :)

Though tbh my Italian stereotype is true, I'll give you that:

Yes I have relatives in the mafia

Yes I eat a lot of carbs

Yes my family eats pasta at least twice a week

Or maybe three times

Yeah three.

YOLO

People just stereotype on everything judging on what they hear, see, etc. I personally hate stereotypes; people don't need to be a certain way to show what they are and they certainly don't need to be judged on what they are by how they look/act either.

I barely ever see lesbians in the way you explained. They are usually in tight/short clothes, with long hair and normal voices?

I don`t mind the gay people I know. And MOST of them show qualities of the opposite sex. It`s wrong to stereotype yes, but people only do that from of the majority of what they see, but are ignorant in the sense that they accuse everyone of that gender, sexual orientation or race to see what the majority is.

While stereotypes exist because some people do enforce them, it is obviously incorrect to assume that all people of that group show those qualities. I just ignore them entirely. I'm also gay, and I don't show any one of the gay stereotypes. So obviously they aren't entirely true.

However you present yourself does not determine your sexuality or even your gender

thats all up to you, not appearance

Stereotypes are ridiculous and Terrable

I'm gay and honestly I don't fit most stereotypes

I like wearing loose clothes that feel comfortable and I dunno anything about fashion

I honestly think I've seen more hetero males fitting that standard
