May 12, 201312 yr Implying other religions don't do those same things. Uhh, no. Pretty sure things like Catholic churches are free endeavors, banquets and building maintenance notwithstanding. And if they resort to lawsuits or physical violence, it's the individual group or people, not how the religion itself operates.
May 12, 201312 yr I really have nothing to add to this that wasn't already said, but I gotta say- this is a really interesting discussion.
May 12, 201312 yr Also aliens Shhhhh! You're not suppose to say that to people who haven't payed donated 600 dollars to the scam cult church! Their heads might literally explode! (Yes, that's what they believe). Implying other religions don't do those same things. The inquisition has been dead for about 300 years now buddy. Individual groups and individuals that belong to a religion might, but it's not the policy of the entire religion, usually the exact opposite actually. Those that do these things make up the extreme minority. Really do your research on Scientology before trying to defend it. Just don't use their official website, they'll record your IP and track your internet usage (true story). Edited May 12, 201312 yr by Amon

I would also say they have far less baggage and blood on their hands than any of the abrahamic beliefs. (Aliens would be more believable than supernatural deities anyway.)

I would also say they have far less baggage and blood on their hands than any of the abrahamic beliefs. (Aliens would be more believable than supernatural deities anyway.) All religions are silly if you take them literally. Not every Christian or Catholic takes their scripture literally because they're as much a philosophy and a mindset as a lifestyle. Scientology expects you to take things 100 percent literally. And trick you into thinking you're unhappy so they can rope you in. And make you pay them for help, with the cost increasing more and more as you go on until you can't escape. And if Scientology has relatively less blood on their hands, it's because Christianity and the like have been around for a hell of a lot longer and so had more time to do those things. They also came from a time when the church and the state were practically one and the same, and so were rather... strong in enforcing their beliefs/laws.

Just because it might be more liberally interpreted doesn't make the overall belief more legitimate.Clearly christianity had been around longer, but that just means they've had more time to learn from mistakes and become more secularized. Thanks for at least understanding that, even if you don't necessarily agree with our views.
And why do people also try to force their beliefs down their throats
