This idea occurred to me a while ago. We know how Ruby and Saphire got Emerald, Diamond and Pearl got Platinum, Black and White got Black 2 and White 2. We've all seriously considered an almost obvious Pokémon Z coming after the long awaited X and Y. But let me propose to you this.

 

Pokémon W

 

 

 

Is it that crazy? Look at it this way, it does stem away from the chromosomes/axes theme that the letters X, Y, and Z all share but here is some things that support it: 

 

 

For one, W is a symmetrical letter. As opposed to Z, it would be much easier to create a Pokémon resembles the letter W because almost all living creatures are bilaterally symmetrical.

It would also make a logical prequel. Depending on how in depth the X and Y story gets, a prequel could either support what little depth there was, or make it that the more engaging.

I would still rather the chromosomes idea, because maybe they could have a breeding engine so that we could see the true baby of a Wailord and a Skitty.

Heck yes it should. Also, I'd assume the evolved form would have some elements of Delcatty... I'm kinda scared to see what that would look like, though. ._.

It's possible. Even though Z would fit the 3D axis theme better the Pokemon based on Nidhggr could just as easily shape itself into a W. And how dare you forget Yellow and Crystal!? Heathen! Blasphemer!

Putting the fact that, like most breeding couples, the offspring would be the same species the female Pokemon aside, wouldn't it make more sense for this to have the elements of Wailmer and Skitty and for the evolved form have elements of Wailord and Delcatty? I know logic has no place oon the internet and even less place in Pokemon, but I just cant seem to completely abandon it.

Not sure. But if you saw one of the original images of the banner, it had what looked like a piece of a DNA latter in it.

I've seen it. But because it only appears in the Japanese logo, I really think that, even though it deals with genetics, they're going to use the X Y and Z 3D Axis for promotional purposes. Especially since it's easier to use for a follow-up game. 

 

I'm pretty sure everyone has figured it out but the next Movie must be a kind of of promotion for X and Y, Those games seem to have a genetics theme, the two titular Pokemon, Mewtwo and Genesect, are both genetic experiments and they both get new forms. Awakened (or whatever it will be called) form for Mewtwo and the High Speed form for Genesect. In fact I'm wiling to bet P500,000,000,000, that, since Mewtwo's new form is obtainable in X and y the same will be true for Genesect's High Speed form.
