Should I buy Bioshock Infinite?

Posted

so I've started playing the first Bioshock, mainly because of all the hype over Infinite. I'm considering, when the time comes that I beat it, that I'll skip 2 and jump straight to Infinite, mainly because I hear 2 is meh and Infinite looks really cool. But I've heard so many mixed reviews about that game.

Like, some reviews say that it's absolutely fantastic, best game ever, yaddayaddayadda. And from what I see, they have good reasons for saying so. And I'd like to believe that it is as good as they say.

But other reviewers straight up TRASH this game, saying it's awful, that Bioshock has devolved into another CoD-esque kind of game, that they could barely get themselves to finish it, and even that it's a sad time for video games when a piece of crap like this is considered "game of the year".

So, what do you guys think? Is it really that good or that bad? Or, most of all- Is it worth it for me to dish out $50 for it?

(Ugh, I'm beat, so I'm going to bed. So, I probably won't see your responses for a while. Any advice is much appreciated though :) )

I bought Bioshock basically going into the same way as you. I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. Shoot, I'm not even a big fps player. Only other fps I've ever played was Portal 2. I really loved this game. I didn't find any parts of it to be boring. The story kept me wanting to play more. I also liked how the game play gives more options than just shooting so you can mix up your fighting. And that ending... It's a really brilliant game. I can't side with the thrashers at all. Perhaps this game isn't for everyone, but even so it really is a great game. I would recommend it.

I havnt seen any bad reviews, everyone seems to think its a godsend.

(Ok, I ended up being awake for longer than I expected.)Wow, I am exactly in the same situation as you (besides the fact that I haven't played Infinite yet haha). Literally, even down to the only "FPS" I've played besides the first Bioshock was Portal 2. Which is an awesome game, by the way. But yeah, what you've said makes me really want to buy it now, so I think I will at some point in the near future. Thanks!

Just look up a playthrough for it, and see some gameplay so you can decide it for yourself.

It's a fantastic game, I say go for it. You'll definitely will be missing out if you don't play it

Why skip 2? I think 2 is better than the first one.
