I watched a live stream in 1080p last night on YouTube. My Internet connection had no issue playing it. 

 

Anyone else ever done this?

One time I did this for a Pokemon game stream which made it very easy.

I never actually seen a 1080p stream, but I usually watch in 720p for streams and have no problem so yeah.
