Animation historian Jerry Beck reported on his blog on Sunday that American producer Carl Macek passed away due to a heart attack on Saturday. Macek and Beck had co-founded the anime importing company Streamline Pictures in 1988.

Macek is best known for producing Robotech, the 1985 redubbed and edited adaptation of three different anime series

Not too familiar with any of these series, but R.I.P. dude.

I heard about this from a friend. He said he got into one of these animes before he died. ^^' At first, I didn't mind, but now that I saw that he helped with Totoro-- R.I.P. D:

If he had anything to do with the casting of the voice actors for the Bleach Dub I don't care.

Sucks to hear that the person who helped anime become popular in the US during the 80s/90s and introduced us to Akira(one of my favorite feature length anime films) and Hayao Miyazaki films passed away recently. May he R.I.P.

Was it really necessary to post something like that when someone passed away recently? Show some respect. For the record, he was listed as the scriptwriter for the Dub not the casting.
