I mean, even if FF XV does surpass VII in sales, who's to say that Square will keep their word. I mean, i know its more money for them, but think about it. All the people who helped make VII are gone now, they'd have to completely remake it from scratch. I guess they could make it like Crisis Core, but it wouldn't be the same. They should've done it earlier with the PS2 when they had the chance.

 

 

(For those of you who don't know what im talking about, the thing is, originally in 2001 after IX's release, Square wanted to remake all of the FF numbered titles up to that point for the newer consoles. I-III were to be release for the Wonderswan Color, IV - VI for the GBA, and VII- IX for the PS2. The PS2 versions would've been released on DVD's, with updated sound and graphics, plus bonus features. But due to FF Spirits with in Bombing at Box Office, they lost too much money and did not go through with it. I-VI got their remakes for later consoles, but VII - IX never got their remakes at all.)

They should've done it for the current generation and been done with it. It's a massive undertaking of course, equivalent to making an entirely new game for the purpose of living up to the nostalgia of the first one while simultaneously surpassing it as a game. 

 

Square was late to the HD update/remake game. It's probable that the company wasn't prepared for this trend, as evidenced by their unwillingness to go near a FFVII remake and their difficulties with the KH remasters. They've had trouble with this generation of gaming, and hopefully they're adapting better for the next one.

I would want a sequel before a remake. I mean come on most of us die hard fans know

Not that I want to be negaitve BUT... I think a FFVII remake is ridiculous. If you've played FFVII (and I'm sure you have) you need to know that fans are asking for them to redo everything. Repeat: EVERYTHING! I know you're problably thinking it isn't much but think about all the unimportant filler events in VII that were used just to keep you running around to find the smallest bit of info necessary to advance the story. Not to mention all the bonus minigames, sidequests, and superbosses which had like 10 to 20 per each disc. Also, contacting all voice actors from each FFVII related thing ever made. It's too much plus if they left just one thing out down to the smallest line, FF fans would flip out. As much as I'd like to see it, I don't think its in the cards. It's just too much to do. Especially for what was a THREE disc game to be turned into a ONE disc game. The ratio again: 3:1. Alot to redo.

True but you gotta realize that recreating a whole new game vs making an HD remaster is two completely different things. It'd be easier to do the HD remake because the only thing that needs to be redone is the quality. FFVII would have to be made directly from scratch having nothing to backtrack on graphics wise and also recording voice overs for the game's script. Too time consuming plus we'd problably have to wait another 3-4 (maybe even 5) years if anything else. Take Versus XIII (now FFXV) as an example.

The reason why we got a FFX HD remaster instead of FF VII remake was because Square-Enix stated that if they were to remake VII then they would have to make it from scratch since the team that made the original left and that it would take a long time to make. So they decided to give us an HD remaster of FFX instead as a way to please fans since a lot of people love that game nd is considered the second best game in the FF series.

 

And to be quite honest, I don't mind an HD port of FFX since it gives me, a well as many other people, the chance to play this game after hearing a lot of good things about it.

I agree. I want a sequel before a remake, but considering how DOC flopped, and its been years since DOC even came out, im sure that Square won't make a sequel unless they end up almost going bankrupt(Again) and have already made a VII Remake. Because lets face it, if they go bankrupt, they will do all they can to remake VII and have all the fanboys go crazy buying copies.

In all honesty, ive never played VII, but i really want to, which is why i look forward to a remake. Ive played Crisis Core, so now im even more excited about it.

 

About the Multiple Discs, that should't be so hard, since the One disc can hold everything, and they just have to put it all in one disc. If they had to remake it with 3 discs, that would be a problem. Getting all of the VA's back together would be a problem though, same goes for redoing everything. But if Square ends up going bankrupt again, for sure, they will pull the VII Remake out of their asses to save themselves, because without a doubt, the fanboys will go and buy the copies like hotcakes, and im sure Square is counting on that.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is just like backward compatibility. It will NEVER happen

 

they will never be able to make  "FF7 HD" that everyone likes so its best to forget about it and move on with life. We already have some HQ patches and what not for the PC version while not the same as playing it on the PS4 its all we will ever get

Crisis Core's set up, story and everything was phenomenal, add to where you gain experience every battle and make FFVII that way.

Also, in CC you DO GAIN EXP FROM BATTLE. Its just invisible and never tells you, it helps determine whether or not you level up.

it could be remade now because the previous problem was the systems werent powerful enouh to hold a hd version of ff7's world its too big apparently

Everyone wants a remake of FF7 and SE would probably make a lot of money with it so I'm pretty sure it will happen...someday.I also would like to see what comes after dirge of ceberus,they should make an epic finally of the Final Fantasy VII saga for the PS4

I guess there is no hope for it anymore. After FFXV, they are going to make FFXV-2 then probably move on to another series. They probably won't remake FF7 but I heard that they said they might think about doing it if they can make a better final fantasy game than FF7 and I think FFXV should be the game that can do it. Then after that they might remake FF7.
