So, I've been rewatching the KH3D scenes and it's super obvious who the 7 Guardians of Light are... why were there countless topics arguing over who the guardians were?

 

1. Sora - The protagonist of the whole story.

2. Riku - The one pronounced the newest Keyblade Master and the overwhelming resistance to Darkness.

3. Mickey - A veteran Keyblade Master that will probably never be subdued by the Darkness. (You know because Disney wouldn't let that happen anyways).4. Lea - The newest Keyblade wielder by mere chance (who could possibly have inherited it from Mickey, Ven, or Yen Sid).

5. Ven - Who seems to be close to or has already awakened from his slumber. An old Keyblade wielder.

6. Aqua - The Light in the Darkness. She only needs to be rescued from the Realm of Darkness, since she is already a Keyblade Master. She also needs to regain her Keyblade, wherever it may be.

7. Kairi - Who was revealed to be the last in the secret ending.

 

Why can't it be...

Terra? Xehanort confirmed, when he had a conversation with Mickey, that he had one of the three Mickey had thought of in his own ranks. Ven is in Castle Oblivion and also protected by Sora's heart. Furthermore, the ending made it clear that he was still safe in the white room he was left in, in Birth by Sleep. Aqua, although she technically has fallen into Darkness, has never wavered to actually give into it. She remains trapped in Darkness, but not a vessel.

Roxas? Roxas doesn't have a body and the power to free him from Sora has yet to be revealed. Yes, Ansem the Wise confirmed that Sora has the power to mend hearts, but that power has yet to be discovered/revealed. It would just be more difficult for Roxas to be one rather than the other candidates.

Xion? Same reason as Roxas and barely anyone remembers her.

Yen Sid? Too old. I don't think you'd want him to fight, although he may be badass.

Eraqus? Too much light. Too MUCH. Plus, we have no idea what happened to him. He was 'struck down', which could mean a variety of things.

Namine? Same reason as Roxas and Xion and I'm pretty sure she has yet to be confirmed to be a Keyblade wielder. She is just a special Nobody who has control over Sora's heart and those connected to it.

 

So the seven Guardians of Light are:Sora, Riku, Mickey, Lea, Ven, Aqua, and Kairi. The seven Princesses of Heart are:

Snow White, Aurora, Cinderella, Alice, Jasmine, Belle, and Kairi.Let's see, there's thirteen Seekers of Darkness, all from different points of time.1. Master Xehanort - The Original Oldie. Master of all Xehanorts.

2. Young Xehanort - The super duper time traveller.

3. Xigbar - The bad ass sniper with the sassery.

4. Ansem, Seeker of Darkess - The Riku obsessed yaoi fan.

5. Xemnas - The seemingly enlightened man.

6. Isa - Firetrucking Isa. That is all.

7. Terranort - Who could be from the time when Terranort remembered all his memories, thus explaining why Terra isn't part of the Guardians of Light...or the fact that Ansem, SoD and Xemnas are the reason why and there isn't a Terranort, but that's besides the point.

8-13. Meh, not the point.

 

If one adds the guardians and the princesses together, you get 13 with Kairi being part of both groups, a direct opposition to the 13 darknesses. This further solidifies the point.Bleh, I know I just stated the obvious, but I feel like I'm still going to receive comments to why these aren't the seven.... I have no idea why it isn't clear to some people, but yea....

There are far too many uncertainties to make any sort of definitive statement regarding the identities of the Seven Guardians of Light. 

 

Sora could awaken his ability to retrieve lost hearts fairly early in the next game. Part of his destiny is to free all 6 of the missing ones from their pain. For Xion and Namine this could merely mean one being remembered and the other getting her thank you, or it could go as far as them coming back. For Roxas, his pain is him no longer being an individual and there's only one way to fix that. For Terra it's being a vessel for Xehanort.

 

While, not confirmed, it stands to reason that if Roxas can wield a Keyblade because he's the Nobody of a wielder, than Namine could for the same reason.

 

Then there is then opening of the game and the various hints to Roxas' return. Sora wants him to have his own life, Lea wanted to become a wielder so he could keep his promise to bring his friends back.

 

Also, there no confirmation that Apprentice Xehanort is a Seeker of Darkness, even thought I see no way he could not be, But this does not mean Terra won't be freed in time for the final showdown. Let's not forget that  Xehanot was also already considering Sora as being on his side and we saw how that turned out.

 

I don't think anyone has ever considered the possibility of Eraqus being a GoL, But since you brought it up, he realized the error of this ways just before being struck down, so  if he were to come back we would have a more balanced outlook. 

 

Finally, Nomura said the identities of the GoL would surprise us, so I would immediately discount the most obvious choices (except for Sora) right off the bat. For all we know, every single hint in DDD regarding the identities of the GoL could have been a red herring designed to throw us off the correct path.

 

In short, theories are fun to come up with, and you could be right, but I would advise against being so committed to one that you believe it to be irrefutable fact.

I dont even think sora will be one of the lights, I mean nomura has stated enormously how much of a normal boy he is, That Dull Ordinary boy...plus his heart is not pure light and he has no resistance of darkness... He may be the hero but he isnt even a master, and maybe he never will....I'm rooting for Roxas tho, hopefully he comes back, another thing is that you stated that;

In the KH universe that is irrelevant, the obvious things turn out to be incorrect loland the reason why there are so many topics about that is because there are multiple keyblade wielders that can be light...

Also while a do like Kairi she is not a warrior like Aqua, she probably will end up kidnapped or something again -_-Sora may be the Ordinary boy that saves everybody without even being a master or part of the Seven Lights.

I would imagine the fanbase would be in a huge uproar if Sora wasn't one of the Seven Guardians. And who said you have to be a Master to be a Guardian? Kairi is pretty much confirmed through the secret movie, and she isn't even a master. As you said, there's so many reasons and ideas that make a lot of theories sort of incomplete.

  @ topic .I would like to add two things as well. The GoL don't need to be wielders so Donald and even Goofy are an option even .As mentioned the 7 lights were not confirmed and in fact Nomura mentioned the opposite - that we would be surprised at who they end up being .Secondly, It's already confirmed by Nomura how Lea got his keyblade. He went to Yen Sid who obviously gave him the ceremony and then Merlin and the faeries helped him train in a special time chamber . This was specified by Nomura himself as well in interviews. In short ,Sky Heart , if you read the interviews you would know why people are saying what they are saying .

Hey I just had a thought. In Japanese culture a "pure heart" is not one devoid of darkness, but rather, one focused on a single specific task. One that has goal they they devote all their energy to. Maybe the GoL will have this type of pure heart?
