Posted August 20, 201312 yr Some people hated the linear gameplay in XIII. I had no issue with it. I loved XIII. But in XIII-2 despite making a lot of great additions they have firetrucked up the story and added the most frustrating puzzles in RPG history. I enjoyed XIII-2, but I hate what they have done with the story and the puzzles... Hopefully in Lightning Returns can give it a proper ending and hold back a bit on the puzzles. I reviewed XIII back in June as you can see here. And I will be reviewing XIII-2, but first I need to purchase a PSN card so I can purchase the DLC.
August 20, 201312 yr Haven't played XIII-2 yet, but I have played the demo. I don't like the direction its going.
August 20, 201312 yr yea XIII was alrite to me i made it through it, but i just couldn't deal with XIII-2
August 20, 201312 yr I've always been thinking that the reason so many people don't like it is that you can play pretty much of the game just using one button (that automatic action button or whatever it was..). I myself think too that the games would have been a lot better if it wasn't there. Of course, you don't have to use it and I try to avoid using it myself. And if some other things were different too.. You can play FFXIII without thinking, I often realise at some point that I've been just playing it and not paying any attention to what I'm doing. But I still like the games. And yeah, the story in XIII was really great and I kind of don't like the idea that XIII-2 is part of the same story because I like XIII and XIII-2 just seems to ruin it a little. Still, the story of XIII-2 seems really interesting too, just on a different way (I haven't played t through yet). And I liked that in XIII-2 you were able to explore the world so much more than in XIII. Edited August 20, 201312 yr by mosokisa
August 21, 201312 yr I liked XIII-2. Some of the puzzles were really frustrating though, ill give you that. But i liked the non linearity, The story was ok, it just wasnt as depthful as XIII.
August 26, 201312 yr Most people I know dun like it, dun like it because turn based gameplay is gone. Turn based gameplay is about as dead as the PS2 is right now. I honestly found Final Fantasy games boring because of the turn based gameplay. I love the XIII Saga though. I must say that I find it pointless to have multiple endings for XIII-2 if only one of them can be considered true since it was used to concept Lightning Returns.
