Terranort's eye color.....

Posted

Okay, so I realized that after Terranort "loses his memory" & becomes Ansem's apprentice he had brown eyes...I used to think that it was because Terra had taken back control of his body....but then I remembered that Terra has blue eyes. If Xehanort has yellow eyes & Terra has blue eyes, then why the heck does Apprentice Xehanort have brown eyes?!? I also considered Erauqs to be in control at the time, but he has what appear to be grey eyes, so I ruled that out. I hate when I can't make sense of my favorite series. Any thoughts?

They mixed the colours?

In honesty I don't think they thought ahead enough to incorporate the eye colour thing, for Apprentice Xehanort brown eyes go with tanner skin when they first designed him.

The way I see it there are 2 possible possibilities:

1. They didn't think ahead to do the eye thing and it didn't start until later

2. Xehanort has yellow eyes and brown is a really dark kind of yellow so maybe it represented him being in control but having a cloudy, hazy, and dark memory

Just a guess though

This is prolly why : Trinity archives :" In a desperate move to rid himself of Terra once and for all, Xehanort turned his own keyblade on himself, and began to sink in the pool of darkness that spilled forth." And Nomura :

When Xehanort stabbed his heart with the Keyblade, why did he go into the realm of Darkness instead of his heart going to Kingdom Hearts?

Master Xehanort was indeed the one who did the stabbing it was not Terra.
Anyway the stabbing was a failed extraction and in doing so Master Xehanort's control on the heart faded and so the guardian his power had conjured faded as well causing the guardian to break up into a puddle of darkness that lead to the realm of darkness.

Master Xehanort did retain some control enough that he could say the name Xehanort but afterwards his control on the heart faded to the point where he is now fighting Terra for control of the heart.
This in effect locked both of them from control because they are both busy trying to subdue the other

The brown eyes prolly represented that at the time neither were in control and they both continued fighting for control .Just sayin'

firetrucking typos ewwww lolz

Yeah my guess was as Flaming Lea said, that at the time Neither had control of the body so it had the colour of neither their eyes.

So AX just became like an entirely different being?

Well Braig ended up having yellow eyes by the end of the game, so it was deffinently a factor at this point in the series.

Not necessarily. This struggle between hearts ended somehow bc we find out MX won control enough to have his ( AX) heartless and nobody carry out his plans and have his yellow/gold eyes. More like it caused temporary amnesia and later when he got MX's memories back he continued on with his plans the best he could .

Okay. I suppose I can accept this. It could be that Xehanort had brown eyes before he gave into darkness. Regardless, thanks for your help, I know you'll always respond with the best answers.

YMX in DDD had yellow eyes and he hadn't become a wielder yet or gave in to darkness yet in his timeline he came from.  I think the brown eyes just represented neither were in control for that given time. Also, thanks xD

Apprentice Xehanort's eye colour were first shown in KH2, which came out before BBS was created with it's plot and the eye colour significance showcased in it.  So at the time of designing him in KH2, I doubt they thought to make orange eyes significant to the story

Considering that while KH2 was in production when he was conceiving ideas for BBS we don't know when he conceived the ideas of the eyes to say that it wasn't thought of back then or not . They change shit even throughout production as they please.

Nomura: It’s a gradual process. When Kingdom Hearts was in production, I was considering ideas for Kingdom Hearts II and Chain of Memories. And when those two were in production, I was thinking of ideas for the next three, 358/2 Days, Coded, and Birth by Sleep.

— Were you thinking of KH3D when those 3 titles were in production?

Nomura: KH3D was put together relatively quickly, I was still concepting the story when I brought it to the table.

I'm sure not everything was thought of, but AX was in BBS with brown eyes. He is walking through the halls of Resident Garden's castle when Braig comes up behind him, asking him if he is Terra or Xehanort, but AX just Stares at him. Being noted was a factor, because braig didn't have yellow eyes, but he did by the end of the game.

I know, but AX's character was already designed and shown in KH2 which was out before the plot for BBS created, thus before the idea of eye colour meaning anything (hence when Ansem the Wise has orangey eyes but isn't norted in KH2).  It is possible for companies to overlook things that have importance later.

But that is Terra's body possessed by Xehanort. He had the silver hair & pointy ears that represent Xehanort, so why not the eyes. Xigbar & Saix had yellow eyes in KH2. Ansem & Xennas obviously didn't get their good looks from Master Xehanort. I personally think everything was planned after CoM, because Riku didn't have yellow eyes or pointy ears when Ansem possessed him. After CoM I think being norted was thought of.

That is Terra's body possessed.  But in KH2, they didn't have the plot for BBS created.  Meaning AX was just AX, they didn't think of Terra or MX.  His appearance was more likely based after Ansem SoD from KH1, as his heartless , rather than basing his heartless on his somebody.    Which would be why he had silver hair and pointed ears.  It is impossible for them to have everything planned.  Even the secret trailers we see are nothing more than concept trailers.  Nomura leaves vague little points that he can connect to in the future with a new game so that it appears like it was planned all along, but in reality it isn't.

Okay. I'll stop trying to defend my argument now. Lol. It's still the best story ever, even if there are some plot holes.

Even though he definitely leaves concepts open ended it doesn't make sense to show AX with brown eyes in the secret ending of BBS too after emphasizing eye color changing in the game . Especially since we see Terra's eyes change to yellow then later we see them brown . If this was just a 'mistake ' from Kh2 they would've fixed that for BBS especially after already showing  his eyes turn yellow.. In Kh2 they DID have concepts for BBS involved like how roxas looks like ven and how xehanort wasn't really 'ansem'. It's impossible to say what was thought of then or not when they were conceiving ideas for BBS during production of KH2.

As with any media, movies, books and video games they did have concepts and certain ideas for the bigger plot points ahead of them, but they don't have the fine minor details completely set in stone years before production begins.

Yes I realize that and said that , but when they do add said details they will make sure to fix or alter important details like that to fit what they wrote or shown especially when it was emphasized so greatly in that very game .Eye color change was a major plot element in bbs to just ignore that detail if it was just a minor mistake/ inconsistency from a previous game .It makes no sense to not alter that when they altered other things they 'retconned' in other games to suit their purpose.

I think his eye colour as first shown in KH2 was a mistake and it's been merely kept that way.  With BBS you could suggest multiple theories for his eye colour being that neither MX or Terra were in control of AX with his absence of memory so his eyes were brown to present that neither heart was in control of the body, that his clouded memories resulted in brown as a cloudly haze over the colour orange, etc but I think his eye colour at design was merely just a random choice of colour.  Now it's can be worked into the plot as one of those previously mentioned vague details that you can look back on and suddenly tie significance to it with the gift of hindsight.

Like I said , it doesn't make sense to not fix that after clearly showing his eyes change from blue to yellow as a major plot point . Then show it as brown in the same game that it was emphasized that his eyes changing colors meant something very significant ..They would've just fixed or altered that 'mistake' when we saw him as AX in BBS but they didn't . They have done that with other things/plot points they wanted to 'blend' into future games so it just doesn't make sense to not do it here if it were just a mistake. We will just have to agree to disagree on this .

But I'm not saying it was a mistake.  I'm saying they basically coloured his appearance before eye colour had a real significance to the story and now that it does, people can start thinking up theories as to why his eyes are the colour they are instead of orange, but in reality his eyes were coloured brown because it went with his characters appearance.

But it still is saying it was a 'mistake" when it's still that way in BBS after clearly showing his eyes turn yellow .That they would just turn them brown again knowing they already made a point of showing them turn yellow . A major plot point  in this story . They would've just altered this to fit the current story if that was the case.

But I'm still not saying it's a mistake.  I'm not saying they did it, went oh wait eye colour is important, nah just leave it like it is.   I'm saying it's a design choice from KH2, that was later worked into the story to have significance.

Oh ok ...I think that is certainly possible that is the case . That they made it that way in kh2 then decided to use it to their advantage in bbs .Either way it is definitely significant to the plot now somehow which is why people notice and question this now which is my whole point ..xD

I recognize that, but I literally just trying to point out that his eyes may be brown cause brown goes with tan skin, like Johnny Depp... Or AX but Johnny Depp is fitter like..

Now I think the best theory for it since it's been worked into the plot would be "two warring hearts inside his body unable to gain control, resulted in Apprentice Xehanort's eyes turning neither orange (norted) nor blue (Terra) to represent that neither are in control".
