Posted August 31, 201312 yr People have talked about in the past, that if say SE went bankrupt we wouldnt get a KH3, but really wouldnt Disney just hire the key people from SE to them, and get them to finish the game but fully by disney? Im sure Disney has enough dosh.
August 31, 201312 yr It could happen. Disney owns the series, after all. Not quite Disney owns all Disney properties in the series the franchise itself is tied to Nomura and Square Enix
August 31, 201312 yr Not quite Disney owns all Disney properties in the series the franchise itself is tied to Nomura and Square Enix Apparently, Disney owns all parts of the series except for the characters that were not already in Square Enix's other games. Yes, that means that Disney owns Sora, Riku, Kairi, etc. Sad, is it not?

Yes, that means that Disney owns Sora, Riku, Kairi, etc. Sad, is it not? If Disney own Sora,Riku and Kairi as you said, then why aren't they featured in any other Disney media??? Disney could've milked the shit outta the KH series with movies or small crossovers or cameos of KH characters in Disney cartoons....etc Those are just examples,if Disney completely own those, they would've done whatever they want with them, but that's not the case I believe that the main KH characters are properties shared by both Disney and Square Enix since the creator of those characters and the entire series is obviously Nomura

The series is successful enough without a need for KH films or cameos of KH characters in Disney's other material.
August 31, 201312 yr Depends if they really think it's worth it for them financially. They may just not bother.
August 31, 201312 yr Even though I have received an explanation about why, I am still very disappointed that there was not a direct reference to Kingdom Hearts in Wreck-It Ralph. Why would a Disney film about video games not have a direct reference to a video game series that they own in it? And before anyone says that it is because the film was based on arcade games, Sonic the Hedgehog has only made two arcade appearances, neither of which being well-known, and there was an obvious FFVII reference in the film.

September 4, 201312 yr As stated everywhere related to KH from commercials to the back of the game case. "Disney. Developed by Square Enix." Disney owns their characters, as well as all the original KH characters due to the partnership with Square(making thm Disney characters as well). Square develops and publishes KH. Though, Disney themselves made the KH mobile game for Verizon phones, which Square had no part of(and not part of the main series). That shows Disney can do what they want with KH. If Square did go bankrupt, it'd be 50/50 on whether or not there is more KH.
