Hi all, in this topic is open for general discussion about Skyrim from speculations, criticisms or questions to the community in relation to the game,

I literally just got Skyrim for my birthday a few days ago, and I'm pretty crap at it! Any advice on starting out on Skyrim, the best choices, how to pick sides would be really helpful! :)

A tip for some cheap lvl ups, use pelts to get leather and buy leather, and get iron ingots, and forge lots of iron daggers or leather bracers until you are lvl 100 armorer.

With choosing sides, basically, do good deeds to be good, do  bad deeds/kill people to be bad. But realistically, there are the Imperials and the Stormcloaks. Stormcloaks are the rebels of the Empire, and the Imperials are trying to stop them. But in the end, there really isn't a good or bad side. You decide!

So you don't actually pick to join the Imperials or the rebels at all?

You got for PC or PS3/Xbox?

My brother is really addicted for the game, and when you need help, I can probably asking him for help :D .

Why doesn't nobody recommend me?

And, it shouldn't be for Skyrim solo.

Choosing Imperials or Stormcloaks only effect some near ending main quests. They're not exactly necessary questlines. But if you wanna choose, just remember who tried to kill you even if it wasn't necessary to.

Stormcloak scum!

Stormcloak scum!

I'd actually take up arms for the Imperials had they not chosen to try and kill me even though I was an innocent. Also they're a bunch of pansies working for the lowlife High Elves of the Thalmor Embassy. I've never befriended a High Elf in Skyrim. If I had the choice, I'd cause a mass genocide of the High Elves. xD

My question is HOW to choose your side. Is it determined by by the nature of your actions, the quests you take or do you have to actually decide and answer a question at any point?

Depending on who you chose to leave Helgen with, you'll be given a main suggestion for Stormcloaks or Imperials. You dun have to follow the suggestion though and to join, you have to do some side quests.Imperials are in Solitude and Stormcloaks are in Windhelm. In all, I'd say, it's your decision, but you do a quest to finalize that decision.

The stormcloaks are just racist hillbillies. And if you noticed the imperial forces in skyrim are primarily made up of nords who don't like what ulfric did. Also. Skyrim breaking away from the empire would just make thalmor conquest that much easier.....For the empire!

Racist? Why I never... XDThey only hated High Elves from my stand point of it, but they have the Dragonborn, so the Thalmor hold no chance against us. I'm the all fearing god among men.

I dunno how often you go to windhelm, but the non-nord citizens are always complaning about discrimination. The argonians by the docks aren't even allowed in the city. Skyrim would have an ethnic cleansing if ulfric had his way. There's a line between patriotism and extreme nationalism, and ulfric clearly crossed it.At least the empire treats their citizens fairly.

I killed him afterward... >.>My loyalty is to go untrusted.

Main problem with this game: I feel like after about 10 hours of the game, you get the overall feel of it and it becomes boring. I played till about level 27 or so, then I just stopped.

My guess is you have to be certain type of gamer to fully appreciate and complete the quests in games like Skyrim, Oblivion, Guild Wars or WOW. I'm sorta there, but saying that I got really bored with GW Nightfall soon after reaching level 20 with 3 of my characters.....
