Question about the end of 358/2 Days...

Posted

Does anyone know why at the end of 358/2 Days Roxas just wakes up in bed without his Organization robes and forgets about everything that just happened? I know the end is the beginning of KH2.

i'm guessing you're new to the series. why this happens?

okay if you read the manga you should make sense of it. after Riku beats Roxas, DiZ digitizes the unconscious Roxas into a digitized Twilight town. he also implements fake memories in Roxas so that he thinks that he's a citizen of Twilight town. so apparently DiZ and Riku dressed him up too so Roxas thinks that he lives in Twilight town.

End of story.

Fool. Does anybody know? That's funny. If you know it's the beginning of KH2 and you haven't played it, then maybe you're not suppose to know yet.

Ansem the Wise aka DiZ created a virtual Twilight Town to hide Roxas in while they work on restoring Sora bc the organization was looking for him to bring him back.. DiZ also made it so Roxas couldn't remember anything and just thinks hes a normal boy living in TT

Basically this. DiZ used Namine to rewrite Roxas' memories so that he thinks he's a normal boy from Twilight Town to keep him safe while Sora's memories are being rebuilt. The clothes he was wearing were the same ones he had when Xemnas found him so maybe he wore it under the cloak.

I can't believe we didn't pick up on this, but Namine manipulating Replikus and Roxas' memories proves Nobody's and Replicas can develop hearts. Because, according to what she told Sora, her powers work on the heart. "But first I have to undo the chains of the memories I made on my own. Then I have to gather up the links scattered across each of your hearts. And then reconnect them." Granted she was talking to Sora Donlad and Goofy, and couldn't do the same for Repliku because he already had regained his true memories on his own. But this can be taken to mean that the person must have a heart in order for Namine's magic to work.

Ah I see. So after Riku beats Roxas in "The World That Never Was", DiZ shows up and "digitizes" Roxas? I don't understand the term "digitize". What do you mean by that? At first I thought that maybe Namine temporarily erases Roxas's memory. Thanks for the clarification though. No I'm actually not new to the series. I've been playing KH since my childhood. My biggest problem I have with the series is the story is very hard to understand because the games are spread across so many platforms. I've played KH1 and KH2. However, right now, everything is beginning to fall into place and I'm understanding more now. I'm still asking for the little details such as this question I posted. Thanks again.

I played KH2 already but was always confused about why Sora was sleeping in the chamber in the first place. Now that I watched the 358/2 Days movie from KH 1.5 and the cutscenes for CoM, it all makes sense now.

well to make it all easier you should just read the manga. it's pretty much canon in terms of plot, ignoring the specific details. what i mean by digitize, DiZ turned Roxas into Data temporarily and put him into a fake twilight town just made up of 1s and 0s. all you have to do to get all of the pieces and nail them into place is to read and watch and play everything. just look around the wikis, INTERVIEWS and manga and media.

Namine did via orders from DiZ. They worked together to restore Sora

Oh so Namine did take part in changing around Roxas's memories. Alright I understand now.

Ooh so that's what it meant by "digitizing". Yea I was thinking it was like some sort of "Matrix" program to put Roxas into but it's pretty much the same idea I think lol.

Yea I think I'm pretty much caught up with the story now. I already know what happens in Birth by Sleep too. I've watched the cutscenes for 358/2 Days and CoM and also read and watched BBS story. This document (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8cPyvE2GTjOMzE4MTVlZTctMjE5Yi00YzAzLWJjZTAtZTllODY2OTc2MTMx/view?hl=en_US&sle=true) also helped me a bunch.

Hmm.. maybe I did forget the little details during my playthrough of KH2. I haven't played it for a while so that would make sense. Anyways though, thanks for helping me clear it up .

It was never explicitly stated, but it had to be her, since she's the only one in the KH universe who can manipulate memories.

Diz planted him in a false Twilight Town to hide him from Org. 13 prior to KH II, so Sora would awaken.

Roxas was literally considered collateral damage.

Lol "collateral damage". That just sounds disappointing. I think it should be obvious that Ventus would somehow wake from his sleep eventually in KH3 but I also hope that at least Roxas or Xion makes a comeback too. It's even better if both can somehow come back. I've realized how tragic the story has become, especially considering what happened in 358/2 Days and BBS, so I hope it ends with a "happy" ending. I also know that Nomura said KH3 isn't really going to be the last KH game in case anyone misunderstands me.
