Ebay: How do I know what product is good?

Posted

So, I'm still trying to get my dad to fix my playstation 3 (I've been woking on that for at least 2 years) and he says he needs to buy a bluray drive for the playstation but everytime I tell him to buy it he's like "I don't know if the product is going to be good! I can't just buy it like that.". So I'd like to know, how do I know which bluray drive to buy? My PS3 model is CECHE01 (the fat one). And also how do I know what product to buy? How do I know if I am going to get scammed or not?

It might just be cheaper to get a new PS3.

My Playstation 3 was backwards compatible. I have tons of ps2 games and I don't want to let them go to waste. Backwards compatible PS3s are pretty rare.

Haha! That's okay! :) Thanks anyway.

youtube maybe.

Go with amazon. There's usually a return policy if it doesn't work. As for the specific part, look it up so there's absolutely no chance for a mismatch

Thanks!

I was gonna suggest amazon as well, but just in case you ever use ebay, you look for product rating and if the person with the product is a top rated user. They have a small ribbon badge on their listing.

Ebay might not be that trustworthy with something like a PS3, but if you want to buy off of Ebay there are many videos on YT that tell you how to

know if a product is good or not.

I say go with Amazon...

Thanks! I think I'll go with eBay because the only bluray drive I could by on amazon.com is really expensive.

I don't really trust Ebay, go with Amazon. Btw it's called a Fat PS3 ^^

well heres what my dad does. look at the sellers feedback and number of transactions. if his feedback is near 100% (but not under 94%) AND he has AT LEAST around 300-400 transactions (tho its a lot better if they have more) then the dude is most likely a reliable seller and will sell you actsactly what you asked for. keep in mind that this is just for ebay. i know nothing about amazon. if your wondering where to find this info, click on the item and its at the right side of the screen about semi paralel to the picture. the number in parenthases is transactions and the percentage is feedback. keep in mind that there is a tiny chance that this might not work but its very very unlikely as ive used this method for years and it never failed me.

Look at reviews and how popular it is. If it seems legitimate and fairly favorable, then perhaps it should be something that catches your interest.

I'm going to guess you had the YLoD problem. And if you don't trust eBay, you can temporarily allieviate the YLoD since there is no permanent fix (if you replace the drive then it still has a high probability of happening). So your best bet is to follow this method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50Qri-971so and retrieve your PS2/PS3 saves and get another fat PS3 to copy them to.

I don't have YLOD. The Bluray drive is broken...that's all.
