FINAL FANTASY: XIII. (The RP.).

Posted

All right everyone! today we begin the RP!! i'll start off :], ahem:

Across the World, at all of its known settlements was a message being spread, by the man named "Taison Moore", saying "My fellow subjects, rejoice! for today, the Fal'Cie have chosen yet again a L'Cie, now the Thirteenth, destined to lead us all into prosperity that is the next World after this one, rejoice!! my fellow people, rejoice!!! for soon, very soon....the start of the "Reimaging" will begin." said Taison whilst people all over the World started to exactly, as he put it, rejoice at the words of a new L'Cie having been born and will go on to create a whole brand new World for them through the journey that is called the Reimaging.

(This song plays, as the news by Taison is spread out practically everywhere-https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=As6Bv1e68hE.).

"Black hadic beats parsly." Dagnet said, sounding disappointed. "Not other way 'round."

<Um...no clue on that one.>

Cassandra again thought she heard a murmur just on the edge of hearing. She wondered if the inner voice was trying to translate what Dagnet was saying. The huntress shook her head, trying not to worry about it. There were other matters. She wasn't too sure she liked it that Aura wanted to avoid confrontation.

"Fighting with the Templar is only a matter of time." She inwardly reasoned. "Best hit them hard first."

"A cover story might help, to at least have in our minds." She said instead. "But we should be ready for a more permanent solution to a Templar problem if need be."

Aura did not respond to the Huntress's comment for she was lost in thought."Sounds plausible." Reya said. "While I do agree with you Aura I also agree with Miss Tinal, we must take into consideration that the Templar can turn into a problem if we give them the chance. Also, we barely know anything about them."The Oracle looked at the blue haired girl with a calm look on her face."Understandable. I just suggested that we avoid any direct confrontation until we have more intel on the Templar's current objectives."Milo listened to the conversation with some interest while looking between all the girls."You may think that violence is not the solution Miss Oracle." He said while looking at Aura. "but you cannot deny that if the Templar find about us and our current task then they will see us as enemies. If news about a group of l'Cie who are trying to initiate the Conception reach the ears of those in the upper ranks of the Templar then I don't want to imagine how harder our journey will be."Aura sighed, slightly annoyed by the current topic."I understand." She said. "Then as Cassandra said, we need to think of a cover story and if the chance arises, wipe out any group of Templar we find in our way."

"Templars." Dagnet growled, clinching and unflinching his hands.

A raven turned its attention to Dagnet.

<Um, want to share with the rest of the class, big buddy? You know what, forget the class. Want to tell me what's up?>

Dagnet growled again and started walking faster. Cassandra turned her head to one side. Why was there enough bad blood between Dagnet and the Templars for the big man to actually say their name in a somewhat coherent manner?

"You...your idea of using your fancy backgrounds sound good." She said, sounding distracted. "Sandblast most people with academic jargon, and they'll leave you alone."

Aura watched as the Giant l'Cie walked faster. but she kept her pace without paying attention to the conversation around her, she was busy trying to silence the noise in her ears, the ever present cries of the deceased that were always with her, every day and night ever since her gentle mother passed away."I wonder what the problem between our giant friend and the Templar is." Said the Professor. "In any case, Miss Tinal. Even that plan is not without its own problems. I am quite sure there are some of the Templar that are smart enough to see through our plan, but let us hope they are not there when we arrive.""Is that so?" Reya asked. "I mean, we really are Scholars, you and me at least and Aura could pass as a traveling performer, she is good at playing that thing on her back." She said while pointing at a medium sized instrument wrapped in cloth on the Oracle's back. "I don't see how they can see through our plan if they barely know how we look."The Professor looked at the blue haired girl and then glanced at the giant."Our giant friend over there could be one reason. I'm not sure what his problem is with the Templar, but judging by his current mood I can say it is not good."Milo looked to the sky before resting his eyes the path in front of him."I just hope we are lucky enough to reach the library without any problems."

Cassandra kept an eye on Dagnet as she considered what Milo said.

"Then we save the academics for the Templars who are clearly grunts." She said. "They surely can't have taught everyone."

Her head moved slightly, as if she was trying to see Dagnet herself.

"We might need a plan to keep him subdued during encounters." She said softly, so as to not let the big l'Cie hear. "He can be unpredictable and dangerous in his current state."

Dagnet continued stomping on, occasionally reaching back to touch the grip of his axe, but ever drawing it.

<Can we talk?>

"No." The berserker growled.

"Sounds about right." Milo said. "For the moment we should let him calm down, but if there is a need to subdue him then we shall."Aura finally sighed and looked at the giant in front of her."Let's hope he calm down, if not then...we might need more drastic measures."Reya looked between the Giant l'Cie and the rest of the group."Perhaps a binding spell?" She said. "I have a few of those at my disposition."The Professor shook his head without stopping looking at Dagnet."A l'Cie of that size will be strong against magical spells, his body must be very resistant to them. In the mean time let us think of a way to...incapacitate...him if needed."Milo once again looked to the sky."It's getting late. We should travel for a little while longer then make a camp to rest."

Cassandra continued on silently for a few paces, thinking about the situation.

"Dagnet." She called out.

The large l'Cie stopped and turned to glare at the Huntress.

"You are going to have to simmer down." She said in an authoritative voice as she kept walking toward the berserker. "We can't afford you flying off the handle, not when we still gotta be sneaking. You and your voice better keep your problem with Templars in check, or I will get involved."

Cassandra stopped directly in front of Dagnet. She actually looked up with her raven to met the Berserker's eyes.

<um, Cassandra? I really hope you can hear me, cause I don't think the big guy is going to respond well to your directly challenging him.>

If Cassandra heard the inner voice, she didn't show it. The stare went on for another few heart pounding seconds before Dagnet moved. He gave The Huntress a two fingered salute.

"Aye, cap." He said quietly.

He then chuckled, and playfully punched Cassandra in the arm before turning away and keep walking. Cassandra rubbed her arm as she started out again, with echoes of the look of shock when Dagnet saluted.

"<I...I can't believe that worked.>

Aura let out the breath that she was holding before letting the handle of her sword go."I wasn't expecting that." She said while keeping her eyes on the Giant. "Perhaps he does have control over himself. More than we thought at least."Reya nodded in agreement before whistling."That was close, but I'm glad we didn't had to take drastic measures."The Professor smiled while looking at the Huntress."Give enough time and anything can change. It may not look like it, but what we saw today is a great step in the relationship between those two."

Cassandra said nothing as the party continued on the path. One of her ravens eyed Milo for a moment before looking away.

"Or repair something lost." She thought.

<Soo...um...I guess we're all set, then.

Dagnet chuckled slightly as he looked back at the others.

"Green ribs play cords." He said wisely to Aura, and winked.

<Smooth. Real smooth. Anyway, when we get the the big library place, let us take point. We're tough enough to take a few traps and the big guy seems to have a sixth sense about these sorts of things.>

"It's getting late." Cassandra finally said. "Best start looking for good camp sites off the beaten path."

The Oracle gave the giant l'Cie a small smile and a nod."That would be a nice idea."Reya stopped and stretched while looking around."Yeah. It's getting late and I'm getting hungry." She said. "We're still near the limits of the Silva Deae so the forest could be our best option."The blue haired girl then looked at the direction of the forest and ran into it."Reya!" Aura yelled. "That girl needs to learn to be patient."The Professor smiled and shrugged at Reya's actions."It's only natural. Her mother was just the same."After a couple of minutes Reya came back."I found a place!" She said in a happy tone. "There is a pond close. I checked the surrounding area and there is no problem to set up camp there."Milo looked at the young girl before crossing his arms."Wildlife?" He asked."Nothing dangerous. Most of the dangerous species dwell deep into the forest." She answered. "Better hurry while we still have some sunlight left."Saying that the blue haired girl made her way back into the forest and towards the opnd she found.

Dagnet and Cassandra followed after Reya, with the Huntress lagging a bit to keep an eye on the big l'Cie.

<Even if there were preditors around here, they wouldn't be a problem. The big guy is good at establishing domannce against other dangerous types.>

"I walk without fear" Dagnet said.

"'Because nothing in this forest is darker then me.'" Cassandra murmured, as if finishing a quote.

Dagnet looked back at her and nodded. Cassandra's jaw tightened for a moment, then she pushed past the Beserker. One of her ravens took off and started flying around the area.

"This place will do." She said. "I can keep watch during the night with one of my birds. It will wake me up if there is something."

The huntress tested the ground with her toe in a few places before finding something apparently to her liking, and I slipping her pack there. Dagnet found a tree he liked the look of and sat down with his back against it.

"There is no need." Aura said. "I will keep watch. It not like I need to sleep anyway."The Professor looked at the Oracle with a serious look on his face."I would like to say that I'm against that idea.""Why?" Asked Aura."You look tired as it is. You have bags under your eyes. I can only assume it is for the lack of proper sleep."Reya shrugged and sat down against a tree, taking out some dried meat and eating it."She is used to it by now. We shouldn't bother trying to make her change her mind, it's nearly impossible."The Oracle sighed and sat close to the pond, taking some water on her hands and splashing her face."I will be fine. It's not like I can have some decent sleep with all the noise I can hear."Milo kept watching the Oracle with some interest."It must be hard. Being the Oracle I mean." He said. "Listening to the cries of the souls of the dead. Never stopping, never ending.""I've learned to ignore it...at some degree, of course. In any case...I'll keep watch for the night."

Cassandra's ravens looked back and forth between Milo and Aura before speaking.

"Perhaps both of us could take shifts." She suggested. "We can't have someone impaired by lack of sleep."

Snoring from Dagnet intrupted the proceedings for a moment. The Huntress actually turned to face the big man.

"The speech of the dead keeps us up, but we have to ignore them." She said quietly.

Aura stared at the Huntress while the Professor stared at the Oracle."I...suppose that would be the best choice." He said. "You can't be without sleep for long periods of time or else your body will suffer the consequences."The young Oracle had a thoughtful look on her face before nodding."Alright. We can take shifts to keep watch during the night."Reya climbed a tree and laid down on a tree branch."Then it's up to the two of you." She said while yawning. "Better safe than sorry."Milo sat under a tree and rested his back against it while taking a book to read from his bag.

Cassandra considered her options for a moment.

"I'll take first watch." She said, figuring on removing any temptation from Aura to go first and "forget" to wake her up. "I'll give you a shake when midnight comes."

With that, the Huntress went about setting up a hammock between two trees. One raven stayed on her shoulder to watch things up close, while the other hopped off its mistress's shoulder and alighted on Dagnet's head. The big man twitched slightly, but little else.

Aura nodded and gave the Huntress a small bow."As you wish."The Oracle then found a spot to lay down and rest, she used her bag as a pillow and closed her eyes in an attempt to get some sleep.Reya was breathing calmly on her spot, she was already fast asleep. The Professor looked between the Huntress and the Oracle before going back to his book."What an interesting pair they are." He thought. "The child of the Reaper of the Icy Blade and the Blind Huntress."He slowly glanced at the sleeping giant l'cie and then back at his book."And then there is him, or them? I can only guess his relationship with Cassandra based only on her body language towards him, but it is not in my place to question it."

Cassandra finished stringing up her hammock, then sat down crosslegged on the ground. The raven on Dagnet's head took off and went to the canopy of the forest. The raven on the Huntress's shoulder glanced around at the group, pausing a moment on Dagnet.

Cassandra pulled out her bow and placed it on the ground in front of her, then pulled some dried fruit from her pack. She considered what she got herself into as she chewed some fruit and kept watch.

Aura was currently covering her ears with her hands in an attempt to stop the noise."Just for a few hours." She thought. "...Please...just a few hours..."Surprisingly Reya was still fast asleep in the tree branch without any signs of falling from it.The Professor was currently reading his book in silence, running different scenarios for the moment when the group met face to face with the Templars in his head."The Library is dangerous for them to go inside without any short of knowledge, but I'm not the only one who can go inside." He thought looking up from his book towards the Huntress. "Let's just hope Luck is on our side."

"Is there something, professor?" Cassandra asked, not even turning to face Milo, though the raven on her shoulder was looking at him. "You seem to have a question on your mind."

The raven in the tree tops swooped low over the camp before going above the canopy, to get a broader view. Dagnet rolled over, scratched his back, then settled down again.

"I do not think it would be proper of me to ask such personal questions, Miss Tinal." Said the Professor without stopping reading his book.Milo then glanced at the blue haired girl on the tree before moving his gaze towards the sleeping Oracle then back at his book."But I am curious about your relationship with our giant friend over there." He said in a clam tone. "I couldn't stop noticing your reactions about...certain...topics. You don't have to respond my question if you don't want to."

Cassandra's face tightened at Milo's inquiry. The words "none of your business" wanted to form on her lips, but she kept them back. Saying that could raise suspicion and doubt in others, which could have bad effects later on. Plus, if things happened like she wanted, they would know anyway.

"He..." The Huntress began, then paused. "Before he was known as Dagnet, his name was David Tinal. He was my younger brother."

Milo stopped looking at his book to focus his eyes on the Huntress."Is that so?" he said flatly. "I suppose that could explain your behavior."Saying that the Professor closed his book and put it back inside his bag."I apologize for my question Miss Tinal. Rest assured that anything you have told me tonight won't be repeated again, not until you choose to share it with the group."After that the Professor remained silent for a couple of minutes before speaking once again."I think that nothing is ever forgotten, and, if something can be remembered, it can come back. Just have faith in your brother. Have a good night Miss Tinal and don't forget to wake the Oracle for her shift."Giving one last look to the blue haired girl and the Oracle, Milo closed his eyes and slowly fell asleep.

  • 2 weeks later...

Cassandra and her ravens didn't look at Milo while he gave his advice, but she heard it.

"I hope so." She said quietly.

On her own, Cassandra passed her shift of the watch without incident. She got up and walked a patrol a few times, before settling down again. Finally, when she ascertained it was about midnight, Cassandra walked over to Aura and gave her a gentle shake.

"Your shift." She said softly.

Aura's eyes shot open at the contact with the Huntress before giving a response."Right..." She whispered. "You can sleep now. I'll take care of the watch."The Oracle got up and stretched before going the the pond to wash her face."That wasn't a lot of sleep, but I take what I can." She thought. "Not that it is important."Now with everyone sleeping, Aura took a moment to adjust her eyes and ears to her surroundings. Sure, they were small sources of Crystal Energy all around, but those belonged to animals. The black haired girl jumped into a tree branch without making any sound, once up in the tree she watched the glowing silver orb in the sky."Such a beautiful moon worthy of Mani."As time slowly made its way, Aura made a few rounds every hour just in case something popped up. It was almost 2 hours until sunrise that something got her attention, something that didn't gave any readings on Crystal Energy so it couldn't be an enemy or an animal."Mist?" She asked to no one.For a split second Aura swore she could she that the mist was moving on its own, or maybe something was controlling it? A few times the Oracle thought she saw a bulge in the mist, but it quickly disappeared and after a few minutes all the mist was gone."What a strange event."After the short event Aura went back with the group, it would be almost time to start the day although she still had a couple of hours before her shift ended.

After seeing Aura up and about, Cassandra walked over to where she had strung up her hammock. She deposited her bow and arrows on the ground below the hammock, took one of her hunting daggers in her hand and got in. Her two ravens alighted on the rope that connected the hammock and settled down. One closed its eyes while the other remained watchful.

Dagnet shifted his position, muttered something unintelligible, then his snoring continued. As Aura was out on her rounds, with just two hours before dawn, Dagnet got up. He stretched his massive shoulders, grabbed his ax and left camp before Aura got back.
