FINAL FANTASY: XIII. (The RP.).

Posted

All right everyone! today we begin the RP!! i'll start off :], ahem:

Across the World, at all of its known settlements was a message being spread, by the man named "Taison Moore", saying "My fellow subjects, rejoice! for today, the Fal'Cie have chosen yet again a L'Cie, now the Thirteenth, destined to lead us all into prosperity that is the next World after this one, rejoice!! my fellow people, rejoice!!! for soon, very soon....the start of the "Reimaging" will begin." said Taison whilst people all over the World started to exactly, as he put it, rejoice at the words of a new L'Cie having been born and will go on to create a whole brand new World for them through the journey that is called the Reimaging.

(This song plays, as the news by Taison is spread out practically everywhere-https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=As6Bv1e68hE.).

Cassandra's face tightened at Reya mentioning not wanting to hurt Dagnet if he turned Cie'th. She had wrestled with those thoughts when she first learned of her brother's new state. There had always been something that kept her from finishing him, but she knew she would have, if he had given her no other option. Maybe there was a reason that he had always managed to keep her from doing it.

"But that would mean his transformation and our family dead was all part of this." The Huntress thought bitterly. "If that was 'fate', I want no part of it."

<Ah, danger. I was getting bored with safety.>

"She'll be at the end of the tart lemon!" Dagnet said, like a rallying cry.

The Huntress's face twitched again. Did he mean...

<Don't worry about the threat of constant danger. It gets relaxing after a while. You start to feel uneasy if nobody tried to kill you.

As the party headed on, the trees thinned and the wide planes stretched out before them.

"I have to agree with that." Milo said. "You get used to the danger after a while."The Oracle raised an eyebrow and looked at the Professor."Experience?" She asked."Of course. It comes with the job." He replied with a smile.Reya was looking around the wide plains with complete interest."This is impressive." She said. "I love the forest, but this is nice too.""This is nothing." The Professor said. "The world is big and holds many interesting and beautiful thing."As the Professor explained to Reya about the things outside the forest, Aura stopped and looked back to the forest that was now at a decent distance. There was this constant feeling that something, or someone, was watching them, but nothing she could see."How strange." She thought. "I can't see or sense anything, besides the local creatures."As the Oracle was about to turn around she managed to notice a silhouette moving through the trees. Upon careful analysis she noticed it was just mist. Aura then turned around and went after her companions. What the Oracle failed to noticed was that the "mist" was a person and the "mist" was actually a cloak."Presence of three l'Cie confirmed. Three Humans and two Forest Elves." A female voice said. "Destination: The Library of Aeviternus."As the female looked into the sky, more specifically at Cassandra's ravens, she took out a bow and two arrows and pointed directly to the sky. A few seconds later she put both arrows and bow away."A deviation from the procedure is not necessary. Returning to rendezvous point."The mist gathered in a swirl and flew deep into the forest, going north.

Dagnet jerked and looked around for a moment. The raven on Cassandra's shoulder gave the big man a sharp look. What was bothering him?

<You should see the far North, Reya. We've been once. Cold as anything, but its got ice formations that shimmer like diamonds up there.>

"Well, the voice didn't seem to note Dagnet's action." The Huntress thought. "Must have been nothing."

Her raven glanced back at Aura, noting some hesitation.

"You alright, Aura?" Cassandra asked, not looking around.

"Really?" Reya said excitedly. "Oh~ I wish I could see that. My only glimpses of the outside world are through books."The Professor eyed the blue haired girl carefully. It made him remember when he first met with her mother and her partner."Maybe there will be a chance to take a look in this adventure." He said with a smile. "Something to look forward."The Oracle looked back at the forest and then at the Huntress."Yes." She answered. "But ever since we set up camp last night I felt like something was watching us. The same when we left the forest, but I didn't sensed anything, no crystal energy source besides the local creatures. I just hope it was my imagination."

Cassandra's ravens seemed to take a renewed interest in the surrounding landscape.

"Don't dismiss your feelings too soon." She told Aura quietly. "It's better to be considered paranoid then to be caught with your guard down."

<I don't suppose we could avoid the desserts? We clomped through a few and...well...they really don't like us there.>

"Shinker shanak!" Dagnet added helpfully, waving a hand around like he was holding a sword.

<But other then that, we've kept a pretty low profile.>

The Huntress sorted.

"Only compared to a Templar General." She said sourly.

Dagnet chuckled.

"I think the Desert of Death is nice." Milo said. "Well, not the desert, but the city of Arcadia.""Arcadia?" Reya asked."Yeah. Arcadia The City of Dragons." The Professor answered. "Apparently it is the only city where you can find dragons living together with any other race."Aura was considering Cassandra's words while looking behind her every once in a while."I guess...Cassandra is right." she thought.{Location: Aeviternus shores}A lone figure in a cloak was sitting near the shore close the the Library. It had taken the best of the Scholars to just open the doors of the blasted place, but a new problem came up once they were inside. Spells were scattered all over the place. It took just 1 hour to lose 10 of the Scholars and the rest were slightly afraid of poking around."I know there is a way." The figure thought. "Someone knows."The figure looked to the sky and saw a thick black plume of smoke that went down into the sand. Slowly another figure appeared, walking towards the figure sitting on the sand, covered in a black cloak made of mist."Reporting the success of the Operation. Presence of three l'Cie making their way towards the Library confirmed." The young woman said. "They should arrive at moonrise."The figure nodded slightly and stood up."Three of Thirteen." Said the voice of a male. "Ten more to go. Let us return to the Library, Rabiyu. Crusade Templar's Specint Division's mission was to protect the Scholars from destroying the place."The male and the girl known as Rabiyu made their way back towards the Library.

<Hmm. Never met dragons before. Maybe we've never been there.>

Cassandra cocked her head oddly as she focused through the eyes of the raven above the group.

"There's a party maybe a mile away." She told the others. "They aren't shiny enough to be regular Templars. Could be Valcon or regular hunters."

<Maybe good old highwaymen. Always fun to scare them.

"I'm sure." the Huntress said. "I'll try to get a closer look. We can keep going, but be ready."

"So soon?" Aura thought. "I guess it can't be avoided."Reya noticed Aura's slightly mood change and smiled at her."Don't worry~ everything will be alright. Even if there are Templars or Valcon, we'll take care of them."Aura nodded and sighed. Even when she was the older one, Reya always made sure to keep her from being sad, no matter the situation the blue haired girl always had a smile on her face."I agree." Milo said. "In any case. It would be good to be prepared instead of being taken by surprise. I'm sure that, in the case of a conflict, we can win against the Templar or the Valcon."

"Drag the red pickle!" Dagnet suggested.

Cassandra actually looked toward the big l'Cie.

"Do you mean 'herring?'" She asked.

<He...might.>

"Could work..." The Huntress said. "With a twist."

Her raven glanced at Reya and Aura.

"Which one of you are better at stealth? If Dagnet, Milo and one of you keep going, the other and I will circle around behind and see the, for ourselves."

Aura and Reya looked at each other for a moment before the Oracle nodded."That would be me." She said. "Reya is more efficient with magic and ranged attacks."The blue haired girl smiled and waved her hand from side to side."I'm good with magic, but so-so with stealth."The Professor shrugged and looked at the giant l'Cie."We will be the distraction while Cassandra and Aura take care of this unidentified party. If they try anything against us, that is."The Oracle then looked at the Huntress."I'm ready to go." Aura said.

"Low and fast, Aura." Cassandra told her as she pulled out her bow.

The Huntress took off, keeping low, sweeping out around around to flank the incoming party. As she left, Dagnet lumbered after her. Cassandra turned holding up a hand. The big l'Cie slowed and stopped. She pointed for him to go back. He slumped with disappointment, but went back to Reya and Milo. Cassandra let out a breath and continued on.

<Okaaay...I'm not sure what just happened.>

"Bill swamp!" Dagnet said irritably and marched off in the group's original heading.

Reya waved her hand at Aura."Now go girl, up, up, up! Get going." The blue haired girl said.Aura nodded and followed Cassandra as she took out her gunblade."This is it." She thought. "There is no going back."Reya looked how both Cassandra and Aura disappeared and sighed."Don't worry." She said to the giant l'Cie. "I'm sure you'll get your chance."The Professor smiled and shrugged."Alright, let's get moving."

Dagnet shrugged.

"Balony pancakes." He said, not sounding convinced.

<Maybe we should make more sound to keep who ever is out there focused on us?>

Dagnet patted the top of his head.

"Well shook!" He bellowed, then started singing loudly.

Or at least, what the big l'Cie thought was singing. To say he was out of tune was an understatement.

Cassandra led Aura in a long arc, first gaining distance from Dagnet, Milo, and Reya before altering their course to flank the party of whatever they were. Best case senerio in the Huntress's mind was this was hunters, just moseying along. Worst was Templars. She didn't want to clash with them directly just yet. As she got closer, her raven in the sky started circling closer to the target party. She thought she could see a Valcon emblem on a shield through the raven's eyes.

"Valcon." She whispered back to Aura.

Milo looked at the giant l'Cie and shook his head."Oh dear. This is certainly something." He chuckled.Reya waved her hands while smiling."My turn! My turn!" she said before clearing her throat.   There, little bird, in the orange sky Over the silver peaks, so high Oh where do you wander? Where do you roam?   And when, will you, come home?   Oh when, will you, come home? Oh little bird, where will, you fly?   Above the world, as time passes by?   Can't I come with you? Can't you just stay? Or, doesn't work that way? Or, doesn't work that way? Oh little bird, you're far away. Perhaps somewhere's night, or else, its day   So I shall stay here, and I shall not mourn And hope for the day you'll return. And hope for the day you'll return.

Aura was following the Huntress very close, sometimes looking back the see their friends getting farther and farther away."Alright. I'm ready." She whispered."Valcon." The Huntress whispered. The Oracle nodded in acknowledgement, her gunblade ready in case there was a fight."

Dagnet stopped the noise that could only loosely be called singing when Reya started up. After he seemed to get the tune, he started humming along. Surprisingly enough, he was in tune and was actually pretty good.

<I live with the guy, and he keeps surprising me.>

Cassandra led the way as the Huntress and Oracle closed on the Valcon party. Using her ravens to navigate, Cassandra aimed for a spot where the raiding party would likely try to intercept Dagnet, Milo, and Reya. She wanted to time it perfectly so that the Valcon Raiders would be sandwiched between the flanking duo and the distraction party.

As they got closer, Cassandra mouthed to Aura "on my mark".

Reya was laughing and twirling while walking."He just needed some practice!" Reya said. "It may look like I'm a good singer, but there are others that are better than me in Heimdall."The Professor's eyes were on the giant l'Cie."How interesting. I'm actually very surprised." He said. "I wonder what he will be capable of, if he keeps practicing."The Oracle followed the Huntress very closely, always trying her best to keep her cover."Alright, it's almost time." She thought. At that moment Aura saw Cassandra as she mouthed "on my mark". Aura nodded slightly in acknowledgement, her grip around the hilt of her gunblade getting stronger in anticipation."Ready at your mark." Aura mouthed at the Huntress.

Cassandra slowed a little as she and Aura got close enough to Valcon raiding party then stopped. She raised her bow to aim down the shaft of an arrow.

"Mark." She told Aura.

<The big guy does have some hidden talents. I don't even now most of them.>

From a clump of tall grass, a Valcon raider jumped out screaming with a sword failing. An arrow from Cassandra hit him square in the back, leaving sprawled on the ground. Dagnet cackled and pulled the ax off his back and charged into the tall grass.

At the moment the word "mark" left the Huntress' mouth Aura pointed her gunblade towards the tall grass. Cassandra was the first to hit one of the Valcon raiders that jumped out, while Aura's attack hit another raider that came from the tall grass and was running towards Reya.Reya's ears twitched slightly at the sound among the tall grass."You know...this is going to get ugly."It was at that moment that a Valcon raider jumped out, but one of Cassandra's arrows hit him in the back."Miss Tinal is very good." Milo said before he looked at Reya. "Stay in the rear. I'm sure you can focus on your spells, but you need to be at a safe distance."Milo pulled his sword off from its sheath and followed the giant l'Cie, another raider jumped out and was running towards the blue haired girl."I'm sorry, but this is the end of the line."The Professor was walking towards the raider, while said raider swung his sword against him, but his sword got hit by Aura's bullet, Milo crouched and stabbed his swords on the raider's stomach."Amateurs." He said. "Stay close to me, Reya. If something happened to you, your mother would kill me."Reya tilted her head in confusion, but followed the Professor."That's silly!" She said, ancient words forming in her mind, getting ready to cast a spell. "Mama wouldn't do that."

Aiming with the assistance of the raven on her shoulder and the one circling in the sky, Cassandra calmly pumped out arrows at available targets. She had alway been good at hunting, even when her quarry was people.

Dagnet charged in recklessly, swinging his axe wildly. A few of the more cunning raiders managed to dodge the giant's axe, but the less prepared were either cut in half or went flying. The big l'Cie laughed and giggled as he fought, almost stumbling from enemy to enemy.

With the prepared counter to their ambush, the Valcon Raiders were being slaughtered.

To say that the Oracle was impressed by the Huntress' skills was an understatement. It was at that moment that all her doubts about the blind woman disappeared. Following Cassandra's example, Aura used her gunblade to hit enemies at a distance, but quickly ran towards them to finish the job in direct combat.Milo was dodging the attacks coming his way while giving attacks of his own. The Professor was slightly amused by the current situation, was it because he missed the thrill of adventure? or because it had been so long since the last time he had to fight for his life? He didn't know, but was enjoying every second of it.Reya was taking cover behind Milo, using a couple of daggers to finish off the enemies that the Professor did not. At the same time she was mouthing words while a faint glowing aura appeared around her body."By the grace of Etro, Maiden of Ice grant me thy help." Reya said. The blue haired girl waved her hand towards the coming enemies and froze them in place.

The still breathing raiders, already contemplating retreat from the apparent superior force, turned tail at the sight of Reya's use of magic. Cassandra shot a few more after the started running, but ceased when it was clear that the ones remaining weren't sticking around. Dagnet ran a few steps after them, then roared at the top of his lungs.

<And don't come back.>

With one set of eyes watch the raiders flee, Cassandra walked to the others.

"Glad to see some Valcon are superstitious." She commented. "Next time, we might lead with you, Reya."

With a heavy sigh, Dagnet stumped back to the others, apparently sad the fun was over so soon.

<I gotta say, our first battle with us working together, and we functioned pretty good.>

"I wouldn't mind, but I prefer to stay on the back. Not very physically strong and all that."Reya was smiling, it made her feel good to see that she could handle a fight."I'm surprised. And here I thought we would be a total mess." Milo said with a smirk. "I'm glad I was proven wrong. Our first battle was a success."Unbeknown to all, Aura was holding her hands over her ears. The noise, the never ending noise of the souls was making a high pitched sound in her ears. Reya was the first to notice this and ran towards the Oracle."Hey, are you alright? Take it easy." She said as she patted Aura's back. "You know it takes a little while to stop."Aura nodded slightly. After a few minutes Aura finally calmed down."Sorry about that. Just a little side effect of my gifts. In any case, everyone did a splendid job. We managed to defeat the Valcon thanks to our efforts as a team."

Both Cassandra and Dagnet ran over to Aura when the heard her distress. While she didn't fully understand the Oracle's powers, Cassandra understood about being haunted. Somethings never got easier.

"Hunger can only be slated by marbles." The giant l'Cie commented, apparently trying to soother Aura.

<Just take a minute. We've got some time before the Valcon get the courage up to come back.>

The raven in the sky glanced up at the sun, relaying what it saw through the bond it shared with the Huntress.

"Thank you. I'm sorry for that." Aura said."Does that always happen?" Milo asked. "Is it normal for you?"The Oracle nodded slowly. It had been many years and by now she was used to it."It is my burden. The more people die the more I hear their souls."Reya looked between the Professor and the Oracle."Think of it as a noise that no matter how much you try to ignore it never goes away. The more souls, the more high pitched the sound is. That can get uncomfortable in my opinion.""And how do you know about that?" Milo said."I told her." Aura answered. "Reya is one of the few people I trust with knowing the side effect of my gift.""I see. I take it that's the reason of your insomnia?" The Professor asked. "How much sleep do you get?"Aura looked around for a few seconds, was she trying to avoid the answer or just the Professor's eyes."A couple of hours, if I'm lucky. It is fine. It's been years and my body is used to that. In any case...we should continue." She said in an attempt to take the focus off her. "We need to reach the Library."

<so, um...should we avoid killing people? You know, so that you don't have to deal with their souls or whatever?>

Dagnet jerked like he was trying to give the voice inside him a look.

<You can learn nonlethel. Can't be that hard. You snap their swords over our leg and the run and scream like little kids.>

Cassandra said nothing as she watched her companions and the surrounding area with her ravens. The idea of trying to limit bloodshed had an appeal. She personally had enough blood on her hands, Dagnet might do better if he didn't try to hack things for a bit and hopefully Aura would not be as tormented. All good reasons, but it could cost expedience and possible the life of one of the party. The Huntress knew not which way she thought they should go, so she said nothing.

Once Aura suggested that the party move one, Cassandra waved for everyone to keep going, bringing up the rear herself.
