Posted October 17, 201312 yr There should be a name for couples who established from the start. I've always understood shipping as taking people that you think would make a good couple and putting them together, but what about those who are already established from the start?
October 17, 201312 yr Hard to say because established ships are rare, but they get names just like non-canon pairings.
October 17, 201312 yr I think they're just referred to being "official couples", or at least that's what TV Tropes says.
October 17, 201312 yr I have a thought about shipping as well: I think everybody in the whole entire universe should ship: SWAN QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8)
October 17, 201312 yr Author I'm talking about a name like OTP but only used for couples who are together when you are first introduced to them. I say I don't ship even though that's not really true. I don't want to use the word ship or OTP because I don't want people to think I put unpaired people together.
October 17, 201312 yr Author "Ship" and "OTP" are still used with pairings that are official though...? I know. Here's an example: Molly and Junior from the new show Welcome to the Family. When we first meet them, they are a couple. You can say its a ship, but to me that's kind of misleading because people who don't know the show could think that these two are not together which is not the case. I'm saying there should be a new name for this kind of couple, so people will know they were together from the start. Mako and Korra, which at one point was cannon, would not fall into this group because they did not start out as a couple. Makorra is a ship, but a Molly and Junior ship should be called something else - a subset of shipping.
