After having helped out at the hotel Richissime and visiting a couple stores, Yui had finally returned home. She kicked off her shoes, and sat down at her desk. She could finally spend her birthday relaxing... It wasn't all that fun having to spend a day as important as her eighteenth birthday working all day, after all. She booted up her computer, but was quickly interrupted by her mother. "Yui, there's someone here to see you!" Her mother told her. Yui stood up and turned to face her mother.

 

"Really? I knew no one would forget today!" She rushed to the door, but was greeted by a woman she'd never met before. "Uh..." She tried to think of something to say. What was this woman doing here?

 

"Oh, so you must be Yui! I'm Serena." The woman introduced herself. "I'm here to give you a request..." She handed Yui a Pokeball and a Pokedex, "As well as a gift."

 

Yui looked at the Pokeball and Pokedex. "Wait, I get these?" She asked, and called out the Pokemon in the Pokeball. She was greeted by an energetic Totodile, which instantly ran around her in circles. Yui laughed, and picked the Pokemon up. "It already likes me! I think I'll name him... Tide!" She held the Pokemon out, and smiled at him.

 

"Uh... There's business involved, too." Serena reminded Yui. "You see... Professor Sycamore has requested that you join four other trainers in a quest to set off around Kalos with the Pokedex. He doesn't care exactly what it is you do during the journey, so long as you complete your Pokedex. He suggested the Pokemon Gym challenge, for example..."

 

"A journey around Kalos...? Sure, especially if I get to go with this little guy!" Yui agreed, grinning widely. She'd never had a birthday gift like this before. She looked to her mother for approval, who nodded.

 

"I was already asked about this. The Professor asked me to keep it a surprise for your birthday." She told her daughter, smiling.

 

"Great! In that case, I'd like you to step outside with me..." Serena led Yui outside, and sent out a Talonflame. Yui stared at it in amazement and Serena climbed aboard it. "Are you coming?" Serena held out her hand for Yui. Yui nodded, and joined Serena atop the Pokemon. The two flew off in the distance on Talonflame.

 

Yui was shocked by how fast the Pokemon traveled. In what seemed like a few seconds, they had already landed in Aquacorde town. "We're here!" Serena told her. She led Yui to a group of picnic tables outside. "This is where Professor Sycamore asked the others to meet us in his letters... He also said that Shauna was sent to Vaniville to get the ones there, and Trevor is heading to find Ludicus..." She muttered to herself. Meanwhile, Yui waited for her new companions... She hoped they'd be somewhere around her age.

Ruby just laid on the grass,looking up at the cloud scattered sky as Empress rested with her. She rested her arm slightly over her forehead,closing her eyes,and sighing. “You know Empress,sometimes I wonder if mom sent me on an adventure to overcome my social interaction issues…”Ruby muttered as her eyes gleamed with the clear day. “…or to try to find dad and bring him back.” Ruby suddenly then sat up,stretching before shaking her head slightly and glanced over to Empress. “We need to keep going. We will stop walking when the sun sets on us. Maybe we should fish on the way too,we could find some useful water-type pokemon.”Ruby said as she stood up,to which Empress growled. “I know you don’t like water-types but hey we could find some new friends that are pokemon and totally not human related.”Ruby said rather casually as she started to walk. “Come on,lets get going. Don’t want to end up sleeping on a clearing where any other pidgey could try to attack us with rocks or something.”Ruby said as she and Empress took off. Empress followed her trainer and partner but couldn't help but to notice the paper to which Ruby held in hand,reading it and repeating the phrases on it as if trying to recite it. "Memento Mori,memento mori,memento mori..."

Yui sent out Tide, who ran over to the space Colossus was. Only, instead of preparing for a fight, he tried to play with the Golett. "Tide, come on... This is our first battle!" She sighed, then smiled. She couldn't feel mad at such an energetic Pokemon. Tide nodded, and jumped into position. "Alright... Ready when you are!" Yui told Robert.

 

(Confusion's fine, yeah. )

"Allrighty then," Robert said, pulling out his pokemon guidebook and looking under "Gollet", "let's begin. Colossus, use  Mud-Slap!" And with that Colossus reluctently hurled a glob of mud at Tide's face.

Yui sent out Tide, who ran over to the space Colossus was. Only, instead of preparing for a fight, he tried to play with the Golett. "Tide, come on... This is our first battle!" She sighed, then smiled. She couldn't feel mad at such an energetic Pokemon. Tide nodded, and jumped into position. "Alright... Ready when you are!" Yui told Robert.

"Aw, man im tired of waiting. I WANNA SET OFF ON A POKEMON JOURNEY ALREADY!."  Said Naruto, a bit miffed that they were still waiting.

She pulled out her Pokedex, and scanned Colossus with it. "Ghost type... Of course, Tide can't do anything to a Ghost type yet..." She muttered, even more embarrassed by the mistake she'd made.

"So, now that we know what moves our Pokemon know, we need to decide who will go first. I propose a coin toss." Sho pulled out a coin from his pocket and positioned it on his fingers, prepared to flip it. "I'm sure you know how this works. Now somebody call it."

Abyss was sitting at a table with Torkoal nearby when he turned to see a Totadile and a Golette in combat. "Oh! Now what have we here?" he said as he pulled out a notepad and a camera. he set the camera down on the table and then with the notepad he began writing down notes about mainly the appearance of the pokemon, leaving large boxes for pictures, then he set up other catagories. He left those empty. After that he proceeded to watch. His Torkoal a bit slow but it looked over eventually. Every now and them a plume of smoke came out of its back.

Robert said to Yui, both embarrassed and excited at the same time.

"For Research that's all this is for." he said to himself before walking up to the two trainers, Torkoal behind him. "if that's the case then why not battle me? Baudro and I haven't fought an opponent for a while." he said pointing to his Torkoal.

Yui was surprised by the trainer who had just approached her and Robert. "You want a battle...? Well, I guess that it would help to take on an opponent Tide has a chance against... Unless you'd like to have the honor of battling him, Robert?" She looked at Robert, asking him if he wanted to be the one to battle. Serena continued watching the group. Heh, it reminds me of when I began my Pokemon journey... She thought to herself.

(This RP has slowed down to a very slow crawl. When do we actually go off on our journeys?)

(Yeah, sorry. I've been busy with school and what-not...plus, for whatever reason, I have somewhat of an addiction to the Rosetta Stone thing our Spanish class is trying out.)

"Oh yeah!" Sho shouted out, remembering that there was supposed to be a fifth member in their party. "We could probably just battle a wild Pokemon or two on the way there." He turned to Shauna. "Should we head out?"

"Yeah, if you're all ready! There aren't any wild Pokemon on the way there since Route 1 is really short, but Route 2 should be filled with them! Alright, we'll go when you're all ready!" She told the four.

"No, you can if you want. I'm perfectly content to watch." Robert said in responce to Yui, and then sat down.

 

(By the way, how does exp. work in this role play? I was thinking that mabey evoryone's pokemon starts at Lv.5, and then Levels up each time they deefeat another pokemon. Does that sound good? By the way, since Colossus didn't really defeat Tide, I won't count that.)

(I checked some of Torkoal's moves and I saw it could know withdraw at level 7 so I just threw it there and gave it an egg move to balance it out. but I guess ill change it if I have to)

 

Abyss smiled "I guess its decided then" he said as he walked a few steps back so there was a decent distance away from the pokemon. then he prepared the notebook. "you don't mind if I take notes about your pokemon while I battle you, right?"

 

Torkoal stood there with puffs of smoke coming out of its back
