from 10-2 through 13 to XIV(even the realm reborn version) including a couple of spin-off games(except Dissidia 012 and Crisis Core those were pure awesomeness)
I just didn't had that grand and epic feeling that I used to get from a Final Fantasy game......XIII-2 is a semi-exception to that as I think it's much better than 12(And I hate Vaan with a passion by the way)......but I still had that feeling that there is something really off
When I was replaying FF4 through the Complete collection on the PSP....I felt that epic feeling once again....the story, the characters, the world, the battle system and that soundtrack of legends by Nobou Uematsu......everything felt right and it continued with games like FFVII and FFIX
Despite the graphical limitations back in the 90's,they still managed to create an outstanding experience to compensate for the limitations they had back then, but I don't understand how they got worse with the advance of the technology,I don't mean in graphics, but in story-telling and the world of the games, while for me it very slowly started with FF8,at least FF8 has a world of it's own to explore and see despite the awful story, something that XIII completely lacked with it's lifeless boring hallways that took 0% advantage of the supposedly beautiful world of Cocoon.
I know that FFXV is looking great and awesome from what we've seen in E3,but will Square be able to bring back that feeling the old games once had............again it's not about me being a nostalgia whore no no no no,I mean will they be able to create those magical & epic stories once again and maintain the essence of what made Final Fantasy great in the first place???
Because one of the reason I have those worries to the extreme now,is that the new committee that Square made to ensure the series's quality, consist of the same people that ruined it in the first place like Toriyama.
It just feels so off to me
