An open field, muddy with the recent rains and the tramp of guardsmen's feet behind palisades. A cloudy sky sat stagnantly overhead, the clouds occasionally parting to allow a few shafts of sunlight to illuminate the grim scene. Two walls, one of solid stone, the other of logs and magic. Several people walked the length of those walls. This is the story of these people, how they lived and fought for king and country, or not. The clouds parted for a few seconds, and the walls stood forth in all their glory. The banners of the Red Hawk and Gold Lion flapped weakly. The watching had lasted for a few weeks now. Something was bound to happen soon. . .

Orion jumped down onto the muddy ground and began dashing forward, sword at his side, ready to be drawn. He was tired of sitting around. One side had to make the first move. If it was all brought down to one man's decision than so be it. Undoubtedly, his comrades would come to his aid eventually. So long as he battled one on one, he could handle himself.

Ferro was sitting and watching the clouds when he saw a figure moving between the enemy palisades, coming toward the wall of the Red Hawk. Ferro grinned with an almost infernal glee, leaping down to go meet the incoming opponent. Perhaps this one will be worthy. Perhaps he will burn in the fires of the Nine Hells after I tear his body asunder. Ferro stood waiting for the man to approach.

Isei smirked. His first opponent. Time to begin the illusions that he specialized in. Feigning grabbing for his blade, his windmill shuriken fell out of his sleeve and into his grip. It unfolded and he threw it toward his opponent. Quickly moving his hand back to his katana, he drew his blade and continued his advance.

Ferro saw the shuriken coming. He raised his red iron gauntlets, and a horrid transformation took place: the gauntlets began to glow with a dull red light, and suddenly spikes exploded out of their surfaces, designed for tearing and lacerating. Black fire ignited around them, turning an already fearsome weapon into a nightmare. A quick swipe knocked the shuriken back the other way, and Ferro began the erratic teleportations he used to engage enemies.

Orion's gaze sharpened. These Red Hawks were nothing like him. He had to be ready for anything. For the Gold Lion! Calculating the pattern and speed of his enemy's teleportations, Orin held the hilt of his blade near his face and lunged at the precise moment, releasing his wrist blade on his other arm should his katana be parried.

Ferro stopped his teleportation right before reaching Orion and flung his arms out in two upward arcs. Two spikes of ice congealed up from the ground, trapping Orion's blade inside as it arced toward Ferro. Then Ferro raised his arms again, and a multitude if tentacles erupted from the ground behind Orion, rearing up to crush him. "Prepare to meet the devils in Hell!" Ferro growled.

"H-hey!" Kat yelled as Orion and Ferro battled on the muddy field. This guy is impatient, he just wants to fight does he? Leaving them to fight, Kat scanned the area from the top of the wall making sure the Red Hawks weren't doing any surprise attack. She hesitated as her eyes spotted the other Red Hawks standing at their wall. 'They look really strong.' She thought. Turning her gaze back to the fight below, Kat decided to let Orion have his fight until he was in danger or the fight turns into a 1 vs 2.

Yassen spotted Kat. He had already been watching over Orion and Ferro's duel, but this newcomer could clearly mess up the one on one fight. Yassen knew that couldn't be allowed to happen. He summoned winds, and glided down next to her. "You." Yassen used little words. He felt talking was an unnecessary use of energy most times. He took out his lightning baton and spun it between his fingers, before pressing a small button on it. It started sparking, and Yassen summoned a bit of extra electricity to get it started. Tendrils of lightning spun around him. "Fight." Yassen stared down his new opponent. "Or die."

Kat blinked at the sudden appearance of Yassen as lightning surrounded his body. Remembering a lesson from Linda about how dangerous Red Hawks' magic are gave her goosebumps. Regaining focus she replied, "I don't think I'll be the one dying." Looking at the peculiar baton he holds Kat decided it was dangerous to fight close-range. Jumping few yards away, Kat took out her daggers, one each between her fingers. and threw the first 3 daggers. The first dagger landed on the ground right underneath his feet but it contained a tiny bomb attached to the end. The bomb exploded as smoke covered Yassen's surroundings. The remaining 2 daggers were normal and flew straight into the smoke where Yassen was seen.

Orion was indeed startled by his enemy's guard, but he immediately knew how to adjust, he thrust his wrist blade into the ice and loosened his katana, freeing his blade just in time for him to jump away and avoid the crushing tentacles. Isei cut through the air, throwing snow off his blade. "Tell me, warrior of the Red Hawk, what is you name?"

The tentacles retracted into the ground, only to spring up beneath Ferro's feet and lift him to a vantage point in the air. "You wish to know my name? Ha! I will tell you. My name is Avernus, my name is Dis, my name is Minauros, Phlegethos, Stygia, my name is Malbolge, Maladomini, my name is Cania, my name is Nessus. The Nine are my names. They are the names you will know in infinite torture after death. And the name you will hear before death is Ferro!" The tentacles threw Ferro towards Orion, and during the descent Ferro teleported behind Orion. Ferro raised his arm, and an ice spike started growing to impale Oriom from behind.

Orion quickly brought his feet together, crouched down, and used Ferro's attack as propulsion to bring him into the sky. He sheathed his sword to catch his windmill shuriken that had finally boomeranged back. It folded in on itself and fell back into his sleeve. Isei readied himself as he fell. He was vulnerable in this position.

Ferro followed relentlessly. He teleported into the air, and slashed Orion with both claws. As they were falling, he looked down, and several ice spikes formed beneath them to impale his opponent. Then Ferro used his tentacles to extricate himself. "Say hello to Satan for me!" He started laughing, anticipating another death. He had a history of being one of the most feared of the Red Hawk patrols, and he was mentally adding another corpse to his long list.

Yassen thought quickly when the smoke exploded around him. If an enemy uses a distraction technique, then an attack is usually incoming. Yassen threw up a shield of ice, and the two daggers impaled themselves into the ice. Yassen dismissed the protective ice, and the daggers fell to the ground. He looked at them, and remembered how to throw them. Yassen dismissed the thought, knowing he had chosen his path. As the smoke cleared, he could see his opponent clearly again. He pocketed the baton, and raised his hands, and summoned flames around the girl.

Milissa looked over the small skirmish. These happened every so often, but didn't make any difference. She could see her brother among the duels. She snarled in remembrance. She unsheathed her ninjato, and jumped down onto the muddy field, looking for some Red Hawk idiot to punish.

Orion held up his arms to block Ferro's hellish claws. He pushed away as the tentacles pulled his enemy back. Crap. He was still within the perimeter of ice. He pulled out his windmill shuriken and threw it at the Red Hawk, hoping to bring down the enemy with him.

"Orion!" The next thing he knew, someone had grabbed him midair and landed outside the perimeter of ice spikes. "You okay?" His savior asked.

"A-Akane?!"

(Akane is your other character, right?)

The tentacles moved Ferro out of the way of the shuriken. He dissipated the ice and remained suspended on his tentacles. "And who have we here?" Ferro flexed his claws. The corpse on his list was removed. For now.

"Akane, you can't-" Orion started.

"Leave this to me." Akane interrupted. She turned to Ferro. "My name is Akane Yoaru." She held out her sword. "And you will die here." The blade shot out of her handle  and straight for Ferro."

Ferro made a fast duck beneath using teleportation and set up a barrier of ice behind him to stop the blade's possible return. He stroked one of the tentacles with the back of his claw, leaving long cuts which bled black blood. The tentacles shivered. "It has been a while since you have had any fun, wouldn't you say?" he addressed the sinuous mass writhing around him. Suddenly, the tentacles retracted and sprang up around Orion and Akane, lifting them both into the air. More tentacles sprouted, reaching for Akane. Reaching in a rather strange way. . .

(Oh Chiuch you...)

"Ahh! No!" Akane screamed, attempting to pull away from the tentacles to no avail.

Orion's wrist blades cut away some of the tentacles. "Enough!" Once his right arm was free, he pulled out his katana and cut more fiercely. He was eventually able to free himself. "Akane!" He pulled out a second windmill shuriken and threw at Akane's perverted captors, freeing her. She fell and he caught her. "We need to regroup for now." He said. Catching his windmill shuriken and throwing it at Ferro as a distraction.

"Right." Akane detached the wire from her blade and ran alongside Isei back to the Gold Lion wall.

The tentacles writhed as they were cut, spewing black blood and then sinking into the earth. Ferro knocked the shuriken aside with his claws. "I will not be denied my corpse, and the Hells will not be denied a soul!" he roared, as a wall of ice spikes sprouted to block their retreat. Ferro teleported after them and went into a flurry of swipes, slashes, and stabs with his claws, aiming at Orion. Tentacles sprouted to prevent Akane from interfering.

A block of ice as a shield and he can summon fire? Linda's right, Red Hawks are dangerous beings. Just as the fire appeared around Kat, she swiftly leaped into the air throwing 5 daggers at his face. These 5 daggers we're covered with the same fire Yassen had summoned, hoping Yassen would block only the fire enhanced daggers, she appeared behind him as quiet as a mouse and fast like a comet. "Take this," She whispered. Kat twirled in a flurry of daggers. The first couple daggers were attached with bombs in case Yassen made a shield to protect him, and the rest were extra-sharp daggers.

(That tentacle thing was screwed up Natron...)

Yassen spotted the daggers headed towards him. Considering they were coated in his own flames, he doubted his shield of ice would do much good. He quickly summoned his winds, and glided away. Fortunately, it turned out that the girl had snuck up behind him. "Good move." He muttered under his breath, still floating on the winds. He thought about what might be most effective for the situation. He decided that the girl hadn't shown much proficiency at close-range. He flew towards his victim at high speeds, and as he came off his charge, he took out his baton, and summoned lightning, which he directed towards his victim.

Kat didn't have time to take out her swords as the lightning hit her jacket sending her flying back due to the shock. Her jacket sizzled as she gritted her teeth in pain, it was a good thing she had her jacket to take reduced damage, but if she took the full blow without it. Kat shuddered at the thought of the pain. Now that she thought about it, Yassen flew away from danger insteading of shielding the damage.'So his ice shield can't block things involving fire, makes sense.' Kat thought. However the only time Kat could coat her dagger on fire is when the enemy summons their own fire. 'I just have to make him use his fire.' She took out her two medium-size swords while she dashed toward Yassen.
