I'm having a bit of trouble in picking which TV is best. Me and my family at most would use it for news, tv shows, sometimes movies, and personally for me, gaming. (Wii U, perhaps soon a PS4)

I think I can get used to the plasma's lower brightness? (I dunno, I heard something about them is less compared to LEDs) Also for 60 vs 120 refresh rates, 120 isn't a big deal if I'm not going to watch sports, but I heard it's is better if I play blu ray movies. I believe for gaming, 60 should suffice as they don't pass that.

I need help which of these would be best.

I'd go for the LED TV in my opinion. A more modern technology.

Now between the two, the LG has the higher Hz, but samsung is the name brand, so it's up to you. LED over plasma anyday.

Panasonic 3D LED LCD Smart TV with 3 or 4 HDMI ports is the way to go.

May as well go 4K too. I'm sure he has 10 grand lying around.

You can get all that for about $1,000.

So LED is the way to go then.

I don't need 3D, nor smart. (Smart is a plus if the price is around with other TVs without it, if not I don't bother) I can always buy a HDMI switcher if I need more.

Also not going to spend over 1K on 4K TVs that will serve me little purpose, which is just blu ray movies. I'm fine with 1080p.

Still unnecessary features....

What's unnecessary?

What's unnecessary?

For most people, 3D isn't needed, or even wanted (having to own glasses, the lack of support, the pain it causes people), and smart tv functionality, while a more important feature than 3D, isn't necessary. It depends on how much of a network his family has set up: a smart tv in a not very advanced house would be a waste. The extra money could be spent on a cheap computer and a wireless keyboard/mousepad which would offer more functionality. It might be necessary for you, but for others having a smart tv isn't necessary.

Besides I have a Wii U if I want to use services like Netflix, Hulu, etc. (which Netflix is the one I'm using)

I'd go with the Samsung LED (the third link that you provided).  I've had a Samsung LED for close to a year and I absolutely love it.  Generally I'll use it for gaming with my PS3, but will watch Blu-rays and TV shows on it upon occasion.  It's definitely an awesome TV with much customization (you can change the brightness on this as well--not sure about the plasmas).
