Sword Art Online: Another Log-In (Roleplay Thread)

Keimei looked around at the crowd in the center plaza of the Starting Town. "Why was I just taken here...?" She asked aloud. She'd only been playing for a couple hours, and had decided to get into the combat system before finding anyone to team up with. She looked around the crowd, noticing a lot of other people were also teleporting there. Suddenly, the sky above her turned blood red. A cloaked figure appeared over the square, and hovered there.

"Hello everyone, and welcome to SAO." A voice boomed over the crowd. "You're likely wondering who I am... My true identity will remain secret. However, I will tell you this; I have hacked into SAO. Some of you may have noticed that there isn't a log-out button... That's because I've removed the option to log out. I've trapped you all in the game..." He paused, as the crowd was dead silent. He eventually continued. "Why have I done this? Simple. I've wanted a world of my liking. In this world, I've surpassed even the game's creator, Kayaba Akihiko. Here, I control you all... Unless, of course, you can clear all 100 floors. However, that's impossible..." He cackled. "Also, to warn you... If you die in the world of SAO, the NerveGear will fry your brain in the real world, killing you in both. If anyone attempts to remove your NerveGear, you will also die. Now then, before I leave, I have a gift for you..." Suddenly, a mirror appeared in Keimei's inventory. She used it, out of curiosity. There was a sudden flash of light, and she shut her eyes...

When she opened her eyes, she felt different. She looked into the mirror... That's... my real face in the mirror... She looked in horror. Aside from her hair color, which was the same shade of red that she'd made it in-game, she looked exactly like she did in real life.

"Now then... With this, I must leave. Good luck in Aincrad... You'll need it." A maniacal laughter echoed along the buildings, as the figure disappeared.

After the echoes, there was silence. After what felt like ages, people began rioting. "We're doomed!" "I can't be trapped in the game, I've got a meeting in an hour!" "That had to all be some sick joke!" Keimei looked around in confusion. She didn't know what to do. She looked around frantically.

I have to get out... The only way to do that is to fight, and I'll need partners... Man, I really wish my friends had been able to get the game so I wouldn't be alone in this. She dashed through town, weaving her way through the crowd and into the streets. She tried to look around for someone, anyone who was also rushing to go fight.

Vash looked away from the others. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Man, i just keep making things worse and worse. Maybe i should just leave the party. He turned back to the others. "I'm sorry about this guys, maybe i'm not cut out to be part of a guild. I could probably take of myself better if i was solo, so if you want me to leave, i'll be on my way."

"What? We never said we wanted you to leave..." Keimei told Vash, feeling bad for the way she'd been acting towards him earlier. "You're a part of the team, Vash. We need you. Besides, going solo is too dangerous! You can't just go off on your own..."

"So... Plan B, I guess?" Keimei asked, disappointed that the quest hadn't worked out. "Are you really sure you're okay with selling your armor, though...? Selling the extra Ingot would work, but going with weaker armor could end up causing trouble later on..."

"If I'm lucky and get the last attack on the first floor boss, it always drops a special item, that item is called "The coat of Midnight". It's better than what I have on, as it's far lighter, and anyway..." He de-equipped the gauntlets and boots. "This stuff it heavy, I mean, sure, if I wear it long enough it might help my speed later on, but it's uncomfortable... Well, save for the shirt: I like the shirt, and it's not really worth that much, so I'll save it..." He said, walking out to the front of the Blacksmith shop, he sighed, entering it. The heavy-set man behind the counter with a black smock and metalworking gloves was standing there, arms folded. "Hello, sir..." He spoke to the NPC, who nodded, a transaction menu appeared. "What can I fix ya with?" He asked, Abisk clicked on the "Sell" option, then turned in his boots and gauntlets. "I actually really liked that gear..." he thought. "But since it seems as though I'm going to party with these guy's for a while, at least till the first floor is cleared... So if anything I need to take care of 'em best I can..." He thought, seeing the Gil enter his side, he then went to the "Buy" option, obtaining a smaller, lightweight pair of black steel-toed boots and some small metal gauntlets without fingers, all in all, cost him about 1000 Gil, he sighed. "I would also like to sell my Scimitar." Knowing swords had to be appraised before selling, he brought it to the table. The NPC looked at it, and with a nod, it disappeared. "There goes ninety bucks..." He thought, now exiting the shop with a pocket full of money and nearly fifty-pounds lighter. "I managed us about 4500 Gil with the armor and sword I sold. The Ingot has to be melted down before its sellable..." He muttered. "But it's fine. We should head out to the Inn now, there is one more quest here I want to attempt before we head out for a good sword that you get as a reward, and if we want to do it fast we go early in the morning." He said, leading the group to the inn.

"Do we want to share rooms or do we want individual rooms? Sharing is less private, but lest costly, individual rooms are of course the opposite in this situation." he asked the group.

"We need to conserve some money in case anything happens again..." Keimei sighed. She wasn't too sure if she wanted to share a room, but it seemed like the better choice in this situation. "I think that sharing rooms would be the safest option for us right now." She answered.

"Ok then, so who's gonna share rooms? Im ok with sharing with Kei or Lock." He didn't mention Abisk since he thought that he probably shouldn't talk to him after screwing them out of a good reward for the quest.

"You seemed more adjusted with Lock, so I think it best to room you two together." Abisk said, turning to the door, he entered and the Innkeeper just smiled and waved, the popup menu for getting rooms appeared, and Abisk ordered two rooms, obtaining the keys for them as well, then opening the door of the inn. "We're all set."

"So, that means I'm with you, Abisk? I'm fine with that, I guess..." Kei went into the room and stretched. She lay down on the bed. "I'm so tired after all this..." She sighed. Maybe when I wake up, it'll all turn out this was some horrible nightmare...

Abisk climbed the staircase, following Kei into their shared room, it had a small stool, a bed, and a window, not much else. "Wait... There's suppose to be two beds in here..." Abisk muttered. "...Crap..." He thought.

Kei looked around. "Oh... This is the only bed." She blushed again. "Uh... Well... What now?" She asked.

(BlackStar, how are we going to handle boasfight last attack bonuses? Just posting means anyone can take it if they post fast enough, and we have to sleep sometime.

How do you want to handle it? Because Crona ain't the only one wanting the Coat of Midnight >.>)

Aether had been travelling for awhile now. Her health perpetually red, she used weaker health potions to help keep her down.

Calmly taking out another Imp, she watched as her Battle-healing skill slowly grew. Eleven points every six seconds. Better then nothing. No worries.

She could do it.

She gripped her blade. Next town. She could do it.

"Four floors. Then I get my other uniform." Aether sounded confident.

She had to.

"I'm out of here." She glanced back, then stepped into the next town. Two thousand gil saved up.

No worries.

Kei looked around. "Oh... This is the only bed." She blushed again. "Uh... Well... What now?" She asked.

"I suppose we just share this one, for tonight..." He muttered, his face quite red.

Lock frowned. There was only one bed, and Vash had already taken it.  Vash seemed like a nice enough guy, but he didn't really think things through. He didn't feel comfortable sharing a bed with someone he didn't really know, so he gently took the bed sheet of of Vash , put it on the floor, and warped himself in it. He used the shirt under leather armor as a pillow, and fell asleep.

"O-oh..." Keimei blushed, and moved over to make more space on the bed. "Uh..." She tried to think of some way to lighten the mood, and make things less... awkward. "Well, even though it was messed up in the end, it was fun going on the quest... You're going to stay with us, right...?" She asked, looking at Abisk.

"I honestly don't know..." he said, lying down in the bed, arms behind his head. "I'm sticking with it till at least till this floor is cleared out. Not that I want to abandon anyone, its just that... I dunno. I feel like Beta Testers are gonna get singled out..." he said, sighing, looking out to the window. "Not too many of the Beta Testers were very good, I remember a few notable ones, like a girl called Aether, she was supposedly one of the best of the Testers, but that doesn't change the fact that the Beta Testers were in fact somewhat experienced..." He looked around the room. "Nice people shouldn't get bad treatment from others who have no deserving of it, and as a Beta, I was going to go ahead of the rest to try and clear the game, or at least secure myself one more day by leaving others behind, so I can't say I'm too much on the 'nice' list this time around. Me, as well as other Beta Testers are going to get some major flack..." he said, the light in their room going off by itself. "And I wouldn't want a girl like you getting unnecessary hatred for harboring a Beta Tester... More like Cheater..." He added on, thought.

"Mmmm looks like it´s time to go back to town again...." He said as he checked his status again. It was around 8:00 PM, after fought a few more enemies, he had reached level 7. Of course when you are trying to grind you usually try to spend the less time possible, as it is a very tedious task. However for Black was not the case. "Mmm... I think with this gil will be enough for a night." He said as he began to walk to the town again.

He entered the inn on the town´s outskirts. An NPC Appeared on the reception area. "A single room, please". Black said as he pulled out with his finger the main menu. After paying the price he entered the room, reaching his own bed, he turned off the lights.

"I wonder... how mom and dad are going with this?" Black muttered as he tried to sleep. The time were gone... so even if they were on Aincrad, they also spend time on the real world, in a deep sleep. "Will we end this game?" He thought for a moment... as he closed his eyes.

Now that I think about it, I can imagine that the Beta Testers would probably get a lot of hate from most players, especially if they go on their own... They know more about the game than any of us here. If they avoid other players and refuse to tell them anything, it probably would cause a lot of players to be angry. Still... Abisk's a really nice guy. I can't imagine him doing anything bad. "Heh... so what if people hate you, or hate me for partying with you? They're the ones generalizing us, its their loss." She smiled, hoping to cheer up Abisk. "I understand if you can't come with us longer... But it'd be nice if you stayed with us."

"If you're sure... I mean, people can get angry; they could be furious at me and anyone who considers me an ally, they could kill us all..." Abisk asked Kei, he wanted her to know what might happen in the future, should riots break out. "Beta-Cheater..." he thought. "Cheta? No... that's stupid..."

"So what? If they try to kill us, we'll fight back and make sure we live. There are four of us, we can all work together. Besides, you're really strong, and I'm catching up. We'll be able to take on anyone who tries to attack us!" She assured Abisk. "That, and I'm not going to just stand by if any of my friends are in danger." She grinned.

"T-Thanks..." He said,  looking her in the face. "I just hope it doesn't come to that..." He said, continuing to try and think of a name. "Man... What about Beater? No... That's ridiculous and sounds like some joke about abuse..." he was stumped on ideas, and oblivious to how close his face was to Kei's.

Level ten.

Aether stood at the top of the main building in the third town. She almost had her Black Iron Sword. But other things remained.

She knew others would hate her...but she was always alone anyways. Why should she care?

"But the other Beta Testers...." she mused. "What if they are hated even more?"

Looking across, she wondered which quest was best.

She could get a free Black Iron sword, but fight two Lizard Commanders and four Lizard Soldiers each. She needed to up her battle healing, so small hordes of monsters...

Leaping down carefully, she slipped into the tavern and accosted tye bartender.

"Hey. Know of any jobs around?"

"Yeah. Fella needs a pack of wolves taken care of. Said a lot were prowling the edges of the town and nearly got his son."

"I'll take it."

She headed out and hurried over to the gates. Time to get Battle-Healing leveled.

"Um... right. Well... Good night." Kei ended up falling asleep instantly. She'd gone through a lot that day, and was completely exhausted by everything that happened.

"Night..." He muttered, staying up for a few hours, he contemplated leaving right then and there still. "They're too nice a people to have a lot of anger pointed to them..." he thought, sitting up. "But if Kei wants me around, I guess I'll stick around, at least till floor 1 is cleared for sure." He was careful to remove the bedsheets from himself so that he wouldn't wake Kei, then he got up and left the room. "I guess being an insomniac is helpful in one way: I can go grind level's." He thought, looking around. "I should be able to hit up the quest for the Anneal Blade, that way they won't have to run through another quest in the morning, and then I will also be able to Dual-Wield again, if need be."  He thought, running around the town, he found the questgiver. "I need a medicine ingredient from the Little Nepent, it looks like a giant bulb with a flower on top, you need to kill the one with a red flower, but make sure not to attack the ones with the fruit on them!" The NPC said, and Abisk was off.

Lock woke up after having a nightmare about him and evoryone in his party dying, waking him up. He had a feeling he wouldn't be able to fall asleep again for a little while, so he got up, put on the rest of his gear, and left the room. Vash was still sleeping soundly when he left, but as he passed the other room, he noticed the door was cracked open. He peeked in to find Kei asleep in bed, but no Abisk, which concerned him. Of all of the members of their group, he trusted Abisk the least. After all, it was Abisk who suggested that he was already dead and that they leave him, without even checking his map. Not only that, but he was a beta tester, so he should have known to check the map.He might of just forgotten, but Lock wasn't so sure. He had to make sure he Abisk didn't fun away with all of their money and the ingots. After serching around town for a little, he finally found Abisk talking with an NCP villager, probably about a quest.

"Hey, what are you doing out questing so late?" He asked Abisk once he got close enough.
