While we're short on information about the newly revealed Kingdom Hearts 3DS, it would seem it is not a port but a new game. However, it is not "Kingdom Hearts 3."

 

In an interview earlier today, we asked Nomura about the state of 3, and whether it would even be on a console, given the Kingdom Hearts series' recent stint on handhelds.

 

Nomura replied, "If there will be a Kingdom Hearts 3 in the future, it will probably be on a console platform, but the thing is that there is the idea and desire to create Kingdom Hearts 3, but the opportunity has not come yet."

 

"I'm under pressure from fans, from Disney, and from the internal Square Enix team as well, because they're all awaiting Kingdom Hearts 3. So I'm aware of it, and I don't hide my desire for one day creating a Kingdom Hearts 3 in the future."

 

As for the reason why the timing for developing Kingdom Hearts 3 has not come together, Nomura explains: "The problem is that the major staff that had contributed to the Kingdom Hearts development is very busy right now developing Final Fantasy Versus. And the new development team who was in charge of creating Birth By Sleep is also busy creating Kingdom Hearts 3DS. So, the timing is not here yet, but when the time has come, for sure we will try to elaborate the concept."

I think he just wants to keep us fans in suspense so when he eventually does release the game, a shitload of people will buy it. I just hate that he does that.

Console platform? That could be Wii or PS3 and PS Move or back to PS2. :huh: I really hate to buy a new one. But since Final Fantasy Versus has been one of those games on demand, I could wait. Priority with other projects first. I'm sure it will be worth the wait since graphics will improve with time.

Since he's said it at least twice in past interviews already, I'm not surprised. Really, it's not like this is new; we've known for a while the state KH3 is in.

He's also said years ago that there would not be any more PS2 games. I'm actually preferring PS3. Hopefully, I'll have one by the time Versus is released ^^

I saw, GIVE THE MAN SOME SPACE! I mean, he is being bombarted by everybody. All he wanted to do was get fans excited, even though he couldn't do much, he did the best he could. Right now, he wants to focus his attention on other games, kingdom hearts 3 can wait. I'm just afried if he waits to long, he will lose fans, frankly myself, i'm tried going back in time....

I don't get it. Kingdom Hearts 3 is just a title. Birth By Sleep would have been Kingdom Hearts 3, if Terra Aqua and Ventus weren't the protagonists. You still get a full, good game, with the same kind of story. 3DS even stars Sora and Riku. It's not like you need a certain title for a good game. I think they should make KH3, however, so fans can start enjoying all the other, non-numbered titles, instead of looking right past them.

And people still assume it too, even though all the hype is on Birth by Sleep right now so it's kinda hard to mistaken it.

My God when will this game come out? Just stop with all of these random spin off titles and get back the the actual story!

I wouldn't save just for the PS3 if I were you, because it's not confirmed for the PS3. Some people believe it's going to be for the Wii, and that is a possibilty :-/

 

And I do agree with the spin off titles part. Birth by Sleep was an exceptional spin off because it explained some secrets for us. So did Coded, but I don't think they should have a made a whole game off of Coded, idk. A ray of hope has shined when Nomura said KH 3D isn't a spin off, and it's assumed that after KH 3D, KH3 is going to be worked on. So we'll see.

That's brilliant. Save up for a system that's not even confirmed to be the system that KH3 will be on, and probably won't be on.

 

At this rate, KH3 might not even be for any of the current systems. By the time it comes out, the new consoles will probably be out (IIRC Sony said there won't be a PS4 or any new Sony console)

 

And if it is coming out in this game generation, don't expect a PS3 release. Nomura's smarter than that.

No, it has been cited as having the same significance as a numbered title, however, Nomura didn't want to give it a number because Sora wasn't the protagonist.

^ Nomura has stated several times that BBS is pretty much "Kingdom Hearts 0".

I know it was as important as a numbered title. What I was saying was people thought it was going to be the sequel to KH2, which it isn't. That's why I said it never was planned to be KH3.

and why do you think that the PS3 is a bad idea? aside from 358/2 days and coded, every kingdom hearts game to date has been released on a playstation console (PS2 and PSP). a potential PS3 release would only make sense to me.

PS2 would make less sense than any other console. On wii it would sell good, on PS3 it would make most people (it seems) happy, on 360 well it would make more sense than a last generation console. It has already been said no more for PS2, and PS3s don't even have reverse compatibility anymore (I heard...) so anyone who got rid of their PS2 for a PS3 would be mad.

imagine KH3 on the Wii.... it would probally have a little keyblade come with the game to stick the controller into and to play the game you would have to swing it around like a maniac O.o

It won't be for PS2. No more KH games will be on the PS2. It's confirmed.

Probably not by much, if at all.

 

KH is not a game series meant to have uber-fancy graphics. If it was, KH3D would have upgraded, since the 3DS' graphics go past those of the Wii and are close to that of the 360 and PS3.

What? Why would a voice actor have to do the lines 3 times if to was on different consoles? They would probably just reuse the clips, no?

I think a big reason it could be on the Wii would be so Square can reuse KH1-2 models. They seem to really like that style, they use PS2 models for the pre-rendered cutscenes (except in the intro, outro, and secret endings) So I think they want to keep using them for as long as possible.
