RoxSox 3,593 Posted January 19, 2014 What the hell are you people smoking... saying Final Fantasy I doesn't have a story. Yeah, it's few and far between, but there is a story that ties it all together. Garland does his thing, Chaos, all that marvelous Time Travel jazz. By todays standards where every single game almost needs to have some kind of mindblowing story to be accepted, yeah, FF1 doesn't stack up. But considering this game came from an era where stories were limited to "Sorry Mario your princess is in another castle" and "it's dangerous to go alone take this", I think FF1 holds up just fine. 5 Zola, Setrex, Ultima Spark and 2 others reacted to this

I didn't say FF1 doesn't have a story, but this story was more explained and extended in the GBA and PSP versions of the game. Also, don't forget that Dissidia shed a lot of Light on FF1 story...and by that I mean the Cosmos&Chaos reports where they talk about the backstory of Garland and how he became the villain of both Dissidia and FF1 Btw,Dissidia is actually a prequel to FF1....from what I've read the story of FF1 actually takes place after Dissidia somehow but don't quote me on that yet

Sora96 17,256 Posted January 22, 2014 Is playing the game for the sake of gameplay something that doesn't happen anymore? The most important thing for me in video games is the story. 1 WakelessDream reacted to this
Ultima Spark 753 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Lol. Their opinions suck. 13 is regarded as bad by the vast majority of the fanbase over the age of 15.. Somehow it's popular with all the little kids but either way its bad. 13 and its continations are exactly what FF shouldn't be doing now. Eh...I like the mythology behind it. Don't really have a strong opinion on the characters. (and before you ask, my favourite in the series is FF4) Now if only they would release Type-0 in the west...! xxClouDxxmoon 901 Posted January 22, 2014 Omg how did I not see this topic. Obviously you only play games for the story, otherwise you would probably hate XIII as well.

And I play games for more than just the story, it's just story is the most important part.

Story is most important for me, but XIII's story couldn't make it alongside the dreadful gameplay for me.
