Chapter 39: The Turn Of The Tide

(Start Song Here)

For a moment, the Keyblade Wielders remained awe struck.  They had not expected to be saved by The Elder and his counsel.  But whether they believed it or not, there they were, the six of them, standing on top of the wall as if they were guardian statues.  As The Elder raised his Keyblade, the darkness in the sky started to dissipate, and the sun shone through, signaling the light of hope.  “Charge!  In the name of the Order of the X-Blade, we shall smite the darkness that threatens to break the balance of the worlds!  Do your duty!” The Elder shouted, as they all swooped down from the wall and charged towards the hordes of Unborn effortlessly.  They dispatched them with lightning quick attacks and deadly accuracy, making sure to leave no stone unturned, bringing the battle in favor of the Keyblade Wielders.  Dawn shed tears of joy, for she was finally bearing witness to what she wanted to see all along.  The counsel joining the Keyblade Wielders in the battle against Xylek.  As the Unborn started falling one by one, Milani came over and cast Curaga on the party, restoring their strength.

Dawn was the first to stand up, and she smiled and turned to face her comrades.  “Come now my friends, it is time we join in the fight once again!” she said, as she summoned her Keyblade, charging towards the Unborn swarms, fighting them off by the dozens.  The others nodded, and they all charged, now more determined than ever to hold back the darkness.  Dawn and Kairi went over to Sierra, Milani and Edeya’s side to help them against the enemy, and Riku went over to Trevor, Damian and The Elder’s side, while the others scattered about the courtyard, taking out the Unborn from all sides.  As the Unborn grew ever more aggressive, the Keyblade Wielders and the Order of the X-Blade pushed them back, working together as one.  Riku and the Elder then stood back to back, as they had suddenly gotten surrounded.

“What made you change your mind?” Riku said, glancing over his shoulder at The Elder.  For a few seconds, he remained silent, and then he glanced over his shoulder at Riku.  “The lot of you knocked some sense into me.  I was blinded by my obsession with protecting the worlds with the strength of the counsel alone.  But I now realize that you and I are much alike.  We want to protect what matters.” he said, nodding.  Riku smiled of relief and then looked towards the Unborn.  “That’s a good enough answer.  So, you ready for this?” he asked.  The Elder made a cocky laugh.  “Son, the question is, are you ready for this?” he asked, sounding confident.  With that, they both laughed, and then they charged towards the Unborn, using their unified powers to cut down the enemy.

They blazed through the courtyard, wasting no time and giving it their all to the battle.  Meanwhile, Sierra, Milani and Edeya had been using their Time Splicer attacks, while Dawn fueled her power into Kairi’s Keyblade, thus, creating a powerful sphere of light that started to absorb the energy of the Unborn surrounding them.  Then the sphere of light exploded, sending countless numbers of Unborn flying all over the courtyard and fading away.  Sora, Donald and Goofy had performed their Trinity Limit attack, and Vanitas, Dexeres and Xion had dealt with the enemy with excellent swordsmanship, and Mickey was like a beast in the battlefield, moving faster than anyone else.  He was jumping from the Unborn’s heads and decimating them in zigzags and deadly swift attacks, and then he cast Holy to make an area wide attack that made the Unborn fade away.  “Good job fellas, if we keep holding ‘em back like this, we’ll be sure to win this battle!” he said, encouraging his friends to keep on fighting.  “We’re all working together.  That’s a good thing to see.” he said to himself, smiling.  Suddenly, a rift opened in the sky!

Everyone turned their attention towards the sky, as the rift that had appeared suddenly began growing, and an incredible power was emanating from it.  At first they thought it was another, more powerful Unborn that had come to attack, but then Riku noticed what it truly was and he smiled.  “About time you showed up!” he said as he smirked, but everyone seemed just as confused as ever.  In a split second, a beam of darkness shot through the rift and down to the courtyard, and it sent a shockwave that toppled many Unborn and even made the Keyblade Wielders and the Order of the X-Blade fall down.  When the darkness dissipated, quick flashes of lighting from sharp blue blades were shooting at all sides, taking out great numbers of Unborn, and then everyone saw who it was.  “Never fear for Gilgamesh is here!” the great warrior bellowed with pride, wielding his two Zantetsuken Blades at the ready and giving out a hearty laugh.  “Gilgamesh!?” Sora, Donald and Goofy shouted in unison.  At that, the swordsman nodded.  “Yes, it is I, the legendary warrior Gilgamesh, ready to battle!” he said, proudly and confidently.

Riku nodded in approval and smiled.  “I was beginning to wonder when you’d show up.” he said with a laugh.  At that, Gilgamesh bowed.  “My apologies master, but like the wayward wind, I am a free spirit that roams the universe, looking for new blades to add to my collection, and battling worthy opponents!  My apologies for not having come sooner!” he said politely, swinging his blades and switching them to lances.  Riku nodded.  “Don’t worry, the important thing is that you’re here now, and we could use your help now more than ever!” he said.  Gilgamesh gave out another hearty laugh, and he bowed yet again.  “As you command, master!  Witness the power of the mighty Gilgamesh!” he shouted, as he started to spin around, forming a Hurricane and plowing through the Unborn hordes, decimating them in seconds flat.  Then he stood back and put his two fists forward, and then he braced himself.  “Rocket Punch!”

With those words, his fists rocketed towards the Unborn, exploding on impact and sending them flying, increasingly decreasing their numbers.  “Bwahahaha, now this is a fulfilling battle!” Gilgamesh shouted with glee, and with that, the Keyblade Wielders and the Order of the X-Blade continued to fight, the battle now in their favor.  As they kept on fighting, they steadily kept making the Unborn fade away, thus eliminating them.  Vanitas rushed to Gilgamesh’s side and he smirked and laughed.  “So, your doing quite a good job on taking out these Unborn, eh?” he asked.  Gilgamesh nodded.  “Right you are young warrior!  With my power and skil, we’ll take out these small fries in no time flat!” he proudly proclaimed.  “Oh really?  Well, your not the only one with overwhelming power.” Vanitas said, and with that, he leapt up and summoned a wave of Unversed to take out the Unborn, showing an impressive display of power.

“Ha, that is all your power!?  Watch this!” Gilgamesh exclaimed, as he summoned all his power and grew six more arms, and his power increased tenfold, his hands filled with weapons.  He then started to strike at the Unborn, each strike sending shockwaves that made cracks in the courtyard floor, and he then turned all his weapons into Excalibur blades, adding to the already outrageously powerful attack by slamming his blades into the ground, causing stone pillars to arise and scatter the Unborn mercilessly.  At that, Vanitas had to admit that he was impressed, but he also wanted to show he had what it takes, and so he stored the power of darkness inside him and then he amplified the power of his Keyblade, forming an orange X that plowed through the Unborn as he went belowground and then rose up, casting Firaga everywhere, and then he enveloped himself in a sphere of darkness, as multiple mirages of him started striking the Unborn in all directions, culminating in a glorious display of power.  “Impressive, young one!  You have enough power to outmatch me!  But I am still the best!” Gilgamesh shouted, while Vanitas simply rolled his eyes and smirked.  “Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night.” he said.

As the battle drew on, the Unborn decreased in number drastically, until the point that there were only a few left.  Riku and The Elder joined as one, connecting their attacks and linking them in gracious fluidity, performing graceful and deadly strikes and stabs to the remaining Unborn.  Dawn looked on in admiration as she saw them both working together, putting aside their differences for the greater good.  It was a sight to behold indeed.  At long last, Riku and The Elder both charged their energy and unleashed a deadly Zantetsuken attack that eliminated the remaining Unborn, as they faded away.  It was now decided.  The battle was finally over.  They all sighed in relief, and they rejoiced in their victory, as the Unborn army that had appeared before them had now been defeated.  Of course, the Order of the X-Blade and Gilgamesh turned the tide, so the Keyblade Wielders were sincerely grateful.  Now they sat down and rested, for the battle had taken out much of their energy.  They may have survived this battle, but they barely did so.  The Elder, who headed towards the Keyblade Wielders alongside the counsel, healed them all and helped each of them up to their feet.

“It is good to see that all of you are unharmed.” Milani said, smiling and bowing her head down to the Keyblade Wielders.  The rest of the counsel members bowed their heads as well, and The Elder did so as well.  Then, The Elder walked forward towards Dawn and he placed his hand on his chest and he knelt down, like a knight kneeling down to his princess, and he looked up at her.  “Dawn, I know that my arrogance and blindness was the cause for all this disarray.  If only I had listened to you and Valgard, I could have prevented him from departing this world.  I humbly ask that you forgive me Dawn.  I know that I have been harsh to you, but know that all I wanted was to protect you.  I realize now that I was wrong. I should not have forbidden you from meeting Riku and from discovering the outside world.  For that, I apologize.” he said in a sincere tone.  Dawn smiled and looked at him and then she put her hand on his helmet and nodded.

“I forgive you…Father.” she said as she removed his helmet, revealing the man behind the armor to be one of of fair skin, with black hair on the sides and White hair on the top, his green eyes meeting with Dawn’s as she looked at him with a big smile on her face, and at that, Riku’s jaw dropped and everyone else was just as shocked as he was.  “Father!?” they all shouted in unison.  Riku put his hand on his forehead, feeling embrassed.  “Wait, so your telling me that…wait, all this time I was arguing with your father?” he asked slowly.  Dawn smiled and nodded.  “Yes, that is correct.”  At that, Riku bowed his head down in forgiveness.  “Forgive me Elder, I didn’t know that you were Dawn’s father, I’m sorry for having disrespected you!” he exclaimed.  The Elder simply smiled and raised his hand.  “It is okay.  It is thanks to you and to all of you that I was able to come back to my senses.  And please, call me Kosaku.” he said.

Riku nodded and smiled.  “Alright, I’ll do that, Kosaku.” he said, feeling a calm wind blow past them.  Goofy, who was curious to know about Kosaku’s story, approaches him.  “Gwarsh Kosaku, if Dawn’s your daughter, then how did all this come about?  Were you always a Keyblade Wielder before you had her?” he asked.  The others, who were equally curious, looked at Kosaku.  Gilgamesh, who was standing in front of him, shrugged and put his hand on Kosaku’s shoulder.  “Well my friend, it seems that now is the time for you to tell your story!  After all this fighting, I think the least you can do is tell them about Dawn and yourself!” he said, making his point.  Kosaku looked back towards his counsel, and they all nodded and smiled, for they also agreed that now was the time.  Kosaku had never thought that he would get the chance to tell his story.  For so long he had kept his past hidden from the world.  The counsel had already known that he was Dawn’s father, but they kept it a secret so that Dawn’s feelings would not be mixed with her duty.  He breathed in deeply and then he smiled.  “Alright then, this is my story.” he began to say.

Chapter 40: A Loving Father

(Start Song Here)

Seeing that it was about time that his story be told, Kosaku drew a deep breath and looked at everyone else, who were ready to listen.  “Alright, this is my story.” he began to say.  “I was thirteen years old, and I lived in Daybreak Town.  It was a peaceful place, one that never knew any chaos or any evil.  I was a curious teenager at the time, wondering about what lay beyond my home, about what wonders the outside world held.  My curiosity became a hobby you might say, as every day I tried to come up with different methods of researching the outside world.  It was a peaceful time back then.  My friends would support me in my goal of going to the outside world, and everything seemed to be just fine.  But as time passed, my friends began to outgrow any notions of exploring the outside world with me, and so they pursued other interests.  When I turned eighteen, I decided that it was time to leave home.  And with that, I left Daybreak Town and headed toward the great unknown.  I had mixed feelings at the time.  I was excited, but at the same time scared, but I knew I had to accomplish my dream.” he said.

The others kept silent and looked on with great interest, and with that, Kosaku continued his tale.  “I wandered the outside world for many days, and I hadn’t encountered anyone along the way.  I had begun to think that perhaps there was nothing else outside my home worth exploring.  But then, I came upon this mysterious woman, who seemed to be lost.  I approached her and asked her where she was from, and she told me she had come from a distant world, far away.  At the mention of another world, I had just realized that I had met someone who had my same ambition.  You could say that we bonded instantly, and from that moment on, we had decided to travel together, to see where this long and unpredictable road would lead us.  I felt happy and relieved that I wasn’t alone.  Her name was Arya.”

“As the days passed on, we grew closer to each other, and we gradually fell in love.  The days turned into weeks, and then months and years, and by the time all those years had passed, we had found a home in a distant village, and we settled down and we became husband and wife.  Then we had thought of having a child.  A few months after that, we had a beautiful baby girl, and we decided to call her Dawn.  We felt great joy having Dawn in our lives, and everyone in the village was happy for us.  Our life was going perfectly well, and we had no disturbances, and no worries.  But then, fate wrought its hand, and that fateful day came…” he said, and suddenly his mind suddenly drifted, as he felt the painful emotions he had felt so long ago.  The painful tinge ran through his body as he remembered that long lost pain.

The Keyblade Wielders looked at each other briefly, noticing Kosaku’s pain, but they said nothing, so that he could continue telling his story.  After a brief second, Kosaku shook his head and regained himself.  “I am sorry…the past is painful to remember…anyways, as I was saying, the day came when the Heartless invaded our village.  We were helpless to do anything against them.  I told Arya to hide in the basement with Dawn, for I had gone outside to fend off the Heartless on my own.  I was powerless against them.  I tried my best to slay them all, but in the end, my efforts weren’t enough, as I had been overrun by the hordes of Heartless, and I had fallen unconscious.  By the time I had woken up, the village had been completely destroyed, its people gone forever, and I had assumed the worst.  I quickly went back inside the house, and I went to the basement, and there I saw Arya, weakened and frail.  I felt horrified, for in that instant, I felt my world fall upside down.  I lay beside her, crying, pleading her to stay strong for me, but I knew that her time was near.”

“Thankfully, Dawn had been unharmed, for Arya had hid her in a nearby basket from the Heartless, but Arya was weakening.  With each second that passed her life was growing shorter.  With her dying breath, she held my hand tightly, and she asked me to protect Dawn with my life, to make sure that no harm would ever fall upon her, and that I would never forsake her.  I swore that I would fulfill this favor she was asking of me, and upon those words, we kissed, and she whispered that she loved me, and then she died in my arms.  I felt devastated, I felt like everything had ended for me in that moment.  The world was now such a dark and cruel place, and there I was, holding my dear Arya close, as she faded away, and only Dawn and I remained.  I held Dawn in my arms, and suddenly more Heartless came.  Now, I was on the brink of a breakdown.  I felt desperation and helplessness and despair, and I didn’t know what to do.  But just as the Heartless were about to attack Dawn, I got in the way, and when I opened my eyes, a Keyblade had appeared in my hand.  I was shocked and surprised.  I didn’t know how that weapon had come into my possession.”

“I had heard legends of it from the village folk, but I would have never dreamed that I would come to possess one.  As I stood there, paralyzed by fear, I was puzzled at how I had gotten the Keyblade.  But then I shook aside my doubts, and I slayed the Heartless that threatened to take Dawn’s life, and after slaying them all, I knew that I had received this Keyblade to protect Dawn, to secure her life no matter the cost.  And so, after that, I left the village with Dawn, and I roamed the wilderness for countless days.  I was lost, I was confused, I was devastated.  The only thing that kept me going was Dawn.  Her beautiful smile and her comforting face were all that could keep me from going insane.  As I wandered the wilderness with my child, every piece of food I found or hunted for, I gave to her.  I ensured that she would be well fed and taken care of.”

“Every night, I would remain awake, Keyblade in hand, to ensure that no darkness would befall my dear child.  I made sure that nothing happened to her, because I loved her so, and because I had promised my beloved Arya that I would protect her.  As the weeks passed by, I honed my skills as a Keyblade Wielder, slowly getting the hang of the weapon, feeling its great power.  Then, one night, I made myself a vow.  I swore that I would do all in my power to prevent Dawn from meeting the same fate that Arya had faced.  I swore I would do anything to prevent her from falling into danger.  And that is when I set out to look for other Keyblade Wielders, so that we could form a brotherhood, a roundtable of capable warriors.  Since I had heard of the legends of the Keyblade and of Kingdom Hearts, I decided I would call this brotherhood the Order of the X-Blade.”

“Slowly but surely, I came upon other Keyblade Wielders who had been wandering the worlds, and they decided to join my brotherhood. Valgard, Trevor, Damian, Milani, Edeya, Sierra, and Shira came to me for guidance, and so it was decided I would be the leader of the group.  I informed them of the fact that I had a daughter, and that I wished to protect her, and so they helped me construct a fortress where we could live in, where Dawn could be safe.  After the completion of the fortress, we decided we would watch over the worlds, surveying the goings on of all worlds far and wide, to ensure that if any Heartless, and for that matter, any enemy threat emerged, we would quickly attend to it.  For many years we kept a close watch on the worlds, witnessing the fall of Eraqus, Terra, Ventus and Aqua thanks to the machinations of Xehanort.  We had planned to intervene, but seeing as how events had already been set in motion, I decided to leave the matter be.  Perhaps that is when I started to shut out the problems of the worlds and instead became more fixated on my needs.  I only wanted to protect Dawn, and that is the only thing that mattered to me.  I hadn’t realized I had become obsessed.”

“As time went on, I bore witness to Sora and Riku’s journeys, observing them, standing by and watching.  The darkness lurked everywhere around them, and Riku had given in to the darkness, being possessed by Ansem.  That is when I knew that I could not rely on people who would so willingly give in to darkness.  Even when Riku had overcome his darkness, I still remained firm in my conviction that he would never overcome his darkness.  And so when I knew that Dawn learned of his existence, I prohibited any contact with him.  I knew that it broke her heart, but I could not let her out of my sight, I could not let her fall prey to the darkness.  I had commanded the members of my counsel to not let her go outside of the fortress, that she was to be kept inside at all costs.  I do not know how I could have been so blind and so stubborn.  I had let my promise become an obsession.  I was the one who was hurting Dawn.  By prohibiting her to see the outside world, and from meeting Riku, I was feeding my own selfishness.  I slowly felt Dawn drift away from me day by day.  Now I can see why…I had become a monster.”

“And so, all of these events occurred, and now I can safely say that I have finally snapped out of my obsession.  I realize that I did wrong to you by prohibiting you from seeing the outside world Dawn.  I am truly sorry for having deprived you of so many experiences.  It is thanks to Riku and all of you that I was able to come back to my senses, and for that, I truly thank you all.  I know that I do not deserve your sympathy, but at least you know my story now.  Even though I acted selfishly, I only did it because I wanted to protect the one thing that mattered to me.  My beloved daughter Dawn.” he said, and with that, Dawn hugged him and he started crying, and everyone smiled at the touching moment.  Goofy smiled and nodded.  “Gwarsh Kosaku, you went through a rough life.  You did so much for Dawn, and you did everything you did to protect her!” he said.

“Yes, that is correct.” Kosaku replied.  Goofy nodded and put his hand on Kosaku’s shoulder.  “I can understand how you feel Kosaku, I have a son of my own, and like you, I’d do anything for him, a-hyuck!” he said.  At that, everyone gasped and shouted in unison.  “You have a son!?” they all said.  Goofy looked at them puzzled and slowly nodded.  “Of course I do!  His name’s Max!  But I like to call him Maxie, a-hyuck!  Hadn’t I talked about him before?” he asked clumsily, scratching his head.  Sora shook his head.  “No!  You never mentioned him!  Wow, I didn’t know you were a father!” he said excitedly.  At that, Goofy smiled and chuckled. “Yup, that’s right!  I’m so proud of my lil’ Maxie, he’s a good kid!  When we finish this battle, I’ll introduce you all to him!” he said. Sora smiled and nodded.  “I’m going to hold you to that old timer!” Sora said while laughing, and everyone else joined in on the laughter.

But just as they were enjoying this small moment of respite, the sky suddenly darkened, and thunder startled to crackle in the distance.  At that, everyone stood ready for battle, for they immediately felt that something big was coming.  As the lightning bolts crashed down on the courtyard, a dark portal appeared high in the sky, and from the portal, legions of Heartless started to pour out of it, including several Darksides.  “Aw come on, can’t we get a little break!?” Donald squawked in despair.  Kosaku looked to Trevor, Damian, Milani, Edeya and Sierra and they all nodded in unison, and then Kosaku looked back and directly glanced over at Riku.  “All of you, go, we’ll hold the Heartless here as long as we can.  The worlds are depending on you to save them!” he said, eyes filled with determination.  At that, Sora protested.  “But there’s too many of them!”  Trevor looked over to Sora and smiled.  “Don’t worry kid, we’ll take it from here, go already, before Xylek has his way!” he said.  At that, the Keyblade Wielders agreed, and they started heading upwards towards the higher floors.  Dawn looked at Kosaku and hugged him tight.  “I love you father!” she said while sobbing.  “I love you too.” Kosaku said while smiling, and then Dawn headed upwards, Riku being the last to stay.  “Be sure to stay alive!” Riku said to Kosaku.  At that, Kosaku nodded and placed his hand on Riku’s shoulder.  “Take care of her.” he said, as he looked into Riku’s eyes. “I will, I promise!” Riku said, giving a sincere look to Kosaku, and with that, he went upwards, leaving Kosaku and the Order of the X-Blade to take on the Heartless army.

(End Song Here)

Kosaku is from Daybreak town! Off-topic: How awesome would it be if they put that world in KH3? I'd love to see it in 3d graphics!

Hahaha! Everyone's reactions to Goofy havong a son was hilarious! I hope we get to see Max soon.

Tell me something, WHY DO YOU STOP RIGHT WHEN IT GETS GOOD?!!! Do you like doing that to drive me insane or is it in you nature? I demand more now! Also, you better continue with another sequel once you're done with this or I'll hunt you down to the Ends of the Earth (no pun intended) and force you to write a sequel! Send me a note once you've started the sequel!

The question of there being another sequel is up to Golden Fighter, although I think Chapter 1, the Christmas Special, and this story are enough. The Keyblade War series should end with this story in my opinion, since it sounds like a definitive end.

Chapter 41: The Finest Hour Part 1 Of 10-Unleashed Twilight

(Start Song Here)

The Keyblade Wielders wanted to help Kosaku and the others, but they insisted on holding off the Heartless so that they could go stop Xylek.  Reluctantly, the Keyblade Wielders left Kosaku and the others alone to face the Heartless army.  Kosaku and the Order of the X-Blade had placed their faith on them, so they needed to make each second count.  And so, they quickly ascended the fortress, until they reached what seemed to be an overlook, where the entirety of the fortress could be seen below.  They had yet to reach the tower ahead.  “Guys, I don’t like this…” Vanitas started to say, and as he said those words, Xylek appeared before them, smiling and walking towards them.  “Well, I must congratulate you all on making it this far.  The things you have gone through to reach me are admirable.  Here you are, determined to stop me, but what you do not know is that I have already won.” he said with a cruel smile.  At that, Xion gasped.  “What do you mean!?”  Xylek continued smiling, as if to taunt our heroes.  “You heard me.  I have already won.  It is a fact that cannot be changed.” he said.

“What’s that supposed to mean!?” Sora asked, demanding that Xylek give them an answer.  Suddenly, Emmxett, who still appeared gravely ill after Dawn’s attack, appeared beside Xylek and whispered to his ear.  It seemed to be something urgent. For a moment, Xylek’s smile faded away, but then he regained his composure and started to laugh.  “Thank you Emmxett.  You have done well.” he said with confidence to his comrade. Emmxett then looked over to the Keyblade Wielders and then looked back at Xylek.  “Shall I dispose of them?” he asked, bowing down before his master.  Xylek simply raised his hand and he signaled him to wait.  “Just a moment Emmxett.  I believe our enemies should know everything now.  We should at least give them that much for making it this far.” he said, his smile only increasing.

At that, Emmxett smiled and then stood back, much to the confusion and bewilderment of the Keyblade Wielders, who were starting to feel uneasy.  Xylek started to look up to the sky and he smiled, as rain started to fall, the raindrops trickling down his face.  “You see, other than conquering the universe and using all the worlds as a vessel to travel to other universes, I have also set in motion an inescapable event which shall forever change everything.  All the guardians of the worlds are now preparing themselves for war.” he said with a smirk.  Riku gasped and clenched his fists. “What do you mean war!?” he shouted.  Xylek simply chuckled to himself and he folded his arms.  “As we speak, a great army of light and darkness is mobilizing, an army of Keyblade Wielders of light and Keyblade Wielders of darkness.” he said.

“More Keyblade Wielders?  How!?” Kairi demanded.  Xylek smiled and sat down a set of stairs, making himself comfortable.  His face then bore an amused expression.  “You lot honestly thought you were the only Keyblade Wielders in this universe?  If you did, then your minds are smaller than I thought.” he said joyfully while laughing.  Emmxett then stepped forward and smiled.  “You see, Master Xylek planned these events in advance as he observed you battling Xehanort for countless years.  Analyzing the research that he gained over the years, he started to have his great ambition of conquering the universe.  He formed an alliance with an entity known as Dark Orion, and he persuaded him to be the leader of our Organization, and in so doing, his plans were further taking root.  He took every precaution in his plan, ensuring that he had everything prepared for when you, the Keyblade Wielders, would try to stop him.  He recruited us, his allies, into his cause, and he decided to sit and wait.  And now his patience has bore its fruit.” he said with pride.

The Keyblade Wielders didn’t know what to make of this newly discovered information.  They were shocked and in disbelief.  How could Xylek have set in motion such catastrophic events?  They all remained speechless, and then Xylek stood up again, being pleased with the uncertainty he was creating among the Keyblade Wielders.  “Your struggles, your sacrifices, all the hard work you went through to foil my plans has backfired on you.  For you see, you lost the moment you began your journey.  There is nothing left for you to do, only stand by and watch as the new Keyblade War begins!” he said, arms spread wide, his sinister smile making its intended effect on the Keyblade Wielders.  Mickey shook his head in disbelief.  “No…I refuse to believe this!” he said defiantly.  The others looked at him. “Everything Xylek is saying, it just can’t be!” he exclaimed, feeling powerless and weak.  Xylek simply chuckled and he shrugged.  “It is an unescapable fact Mickey.  You no longer have the power to stop me, because my plans have already taken root.” he said confidently.  Mickey again shook his head, and he summoned his Keyblade.  “Your not gonna get away with this!  You won’t use the worlds as tools!” he said.

(End Song Here)

Xion snapped out of her shock and she nodded in agreement.  “That’s right!  We won’t let you have your way!  Even if it’s impossible, we’ll do our best to stop you, here and now! For the worlds, and for our fallen friends!” she said with determination.  At that, Xylek simply chuckled, and then he turned around and started to walk away. “Emmxett, dispose of them.” he said, as he disappeared into a portal of darkness that he had opened up.  Emmxett nodded and summoned his Kuzuri.  “As you command Master Xylek!” he said, and as he stood ready for battle, he raised his hand, and from it, an immense energy started to emanate from his fingers.  In a split second, he shot a ray of light and darkness towards the sky, and soon after, the entire landscape turned gray, a twilit stage for the battle at hand.  “What are you doing!?” Dawn demanded.

(Start Song Here)

After the entire landscape turned gray, Emmxett lowered his hand and then held his Kuzuri with both of his hands.  “It is a field of twilight.  A field to improve the power of the Master, and to bring forth a portal that will enable this universe to travel to other vast universes.  You are now powerless.  But before you die, I expect you to give me a spectacular battle to fight!  Do not disappoint me.” he said, pointing his Kuzuri at the Keyblade Wielders.  Dexeres stepped forward and smirked, and he glanced at the others, signaling them to step aside.  “Guys, I’ll handle this.” Dexeres said, as he stepped closer towards Emmxett.  “But Dexeres-“ Mickey started to say, but Vanitas stopped him short.  “Let him be Mickey.  He wants this to be his battle.  This is a warrior’s pride we’re talking about.” he said.  Gilgamesh crossed his arms and nodded in agreement.  “That is very right my raven haired friend.  He is upholding his honor!” he said.

Emmxett’s face filled up with contentment, and then he snapped his fingers, causing an impassable barrier to form on the outlook.  “This is so that you don’t get any bright ideas.  You will not escape until this battle is done.  Now sit by and watch if you’d please.” he said, swinging his Kuzuri in wide arcs and then putting it over his shoulder.  Dexeres relaxed his shoulders and cracked his neck and knuckles, ready to fight.  “Let’s do this.  One on one.  Give it all you’ve got!” Dexeres shouted.  Emmxett closed his eyes and smirked.  “Hmph, I’ll be sure to give it my all, worthy adversary.  My hope is that you are ready to give it your all.” he said confidently.  With that, they both stared down, as if the world had suddenly frozen around them.  This was a battle Dexeres needed to win.  He needed to do this for his friends, and for the sake of all worlds.  For each moment that passed, Xylek would be closer to achieving supreme victory.  Even if everything was already in motion, as long as the Keyblade Wielders were there, they were going to do all in their power to defeat Xylek once and for all.  This is a fact that Dexeres knew he had to uphold.

And so, with the twilit field of gray and with the combatants at the ready, the battle began.  Dexeres and Emmxett wasted no time, as they darted about the outlook, trading mighty blows and striking at each other with lightning fast speed.  The Keyblade Wielders looked on in awe, as the two warriors kept constantly clashing blades, their determination clearly apparent.  Dawn clasped both her hands together and hoped for the best.  “What is it that motivates them so?  What drives them to push themselves like this?” she asked aloud.  Gilgamesh, who was standing beside her, leaned against a nearby wall and chuckled softly.  “Well, you see young lass, what motivates these two great swordsmen is their honor.  A warrior’s honor.  In battle, one strives to achieve the best in order to obtain victory.  But this isn’t about victory or about anything else for that matter.  This is a battle that clashes iron will against iron will, swordsman against swordsman.  They are eager to uphold their honor.  And that, young lass, is what compels them so.” he said in a wise tone.  Everyone agreed silently and they watched on as the battle continued before their eyes.

With the battle pressing on, Dexeres blocked Emmxett’s attacks as quickly as he was able, providing no openings in his defenses and keeping his guard up at all times.  With each attack blocked, Emmxett continued attacking, increasing his speed and his tactics.  Emmxett gave out a laugh, feeling innermost joy.  “Excellent!  I expected no less from you, my honorable rival!  You are truly an incredible swordsman!” he said, admiring Dexeres’ skills.  Dexeres smirked and he shrugged as he pushed back Emmxett and landed on the ground gracefully.  “You know, your not half bad yourself.  I really wish we could have been friends.  I bet we’d have been excellent comrades.” he said sincerely.  At that, Emmxett nodded and smiled.  “That is true, we could have made great allies.  But now is not the time for such sentiment.  Now it is time for us to battle, and uphold our honor!” he shouted, holding his Kuzuri at the ready.

“Agreed.” Dexeres answered, and so both of them dashed towards each other and clashed blades gloriously.  Silver sparks rained all over the floor from their constant clashing, and both of them were giving no mercy, no weakness, and no hesitation.  Sora looked on and analyzed the current situation, and he was eyeing Dexeres’ attacks closely, learning his patterns and making sure he had them commited to memory so that he could practice them.  Everyone else was on edge, for they all knew that these two were exceptional swordsmen.  No one could predict what could happen, because the victor of this battle could be anyone.  “You can do it Dexeres, I know you can!” Xion shouted, nodding in reassurance.  Vanitas simply smirked and leaned his back on the wall and chuckled.  “Hang on tight Xion.  This battle’s going to be a close one, so keep a close watch.” he said, looking onwards towards the battle.

As the seconds dragged on, the battle turned ever more intense, as Dexeres started to shoot twilight spheres towards Emmxett, who simply absorbed them and counterattacked with twilight lances.  They even leapt high into the air, and Emmxett tried to fling Dexeres below, to send him crashing to the ground below, but Dexeres was able to disappear then reappear behind him, delivering a sharp strike, but unfortunately, he wasn’t able to hit, as Emmxett’s quick reflexes allowed him to block the attack.  They then landed on the floor gracefully, and they stood there, staring down at each other.  “He knows how to defend himself well against my attacks, and he seems to have a grasp of all my techniques…I should definitely spice up my tactics.” Emmxett said to himself, analylzing what to do next. Dexeres was also being cautious, trying to pinpoint Emmxett’s next attack.  “We’re both evenly matched.  This is a lot harder than I thought it would be.  But I expected no less from him.  After all, he is a skilled swordsman and a worthy opponent.  But there has to be a way I can break his defenses…” Dexeres said to himself, sweating from his brow.  This battle was now becoming that much more intense.

Chapter 42: The Finest Hour Part 2 Of 10-Dexeres Vs. Emmxett: A Dance Of Blades

(Start Song Here)

Silence.  All that could be felt was silence.  The Keyblade Wielders were being onlookers, bystanders, watching as Dexeres, their friend and ally, fought all out against Emmxett, a powerful enemy and an ally of Xylek. The battle had been raging for a while now, and the two warriors were evenly matched, and now they were thinking up of what tactics they could use against each other.  Dexeres could feel a drop of sweat forming from his forehead and down to his eyebrow.  He could feel the cold, sudden tremble of anxiety going through his body.  This is the first time in a while that he felt out of his league.  Emmxett appeared to show no signs of anxiety or anything of the sort. Rather, he was waiting for Dexeres to make the next move.  Without hesitation, Dexeres quickly backstepped and decided to go for a Reversal attack, only to be hit in the gut by Emmxett’s elbow, then being consecutively punched and then sent flying across the outlook.  Everyone gasped, jaws dropped, and Dexeres himself was speechless.

“How did he do that!?” Dexeres thought to himself, simply amazed and shaken by Emmxett’s precise attacks.  He then stood up again and ran straight towards him, clashing blades with him once more.  A straightforward attack wouldn’t work, since Emmxett had a tendency to keep his defenses air tight, so trying to find an opening to attack would prove greatly difficult.  “How do I get to him?  How do I defeat him?” Dexeres questioned himself, now starting to feel more desperate, for the more time he lingered in the battle, the more time he and the Keyblade Wielders would lose.  As things were standing, Dexeres could not afford to waste any more time.  “Your not going to win Emmxett!” Dexeres proclaimed valiantly, as he leapt upward and swooped down to apply pressure to his attack, making Emmxett flinch only slightly.

Dexeres continued to attack in every way he could, experimenting as he delivered fast and calculated strikes at Emmxett, who only seemed to be toying with him at this point.  No matter what Dexeres did, Emmxett would counterattack or block or dodge perfectly, much to the dismay of the Keyblade Wielders.  Things were getting ever more complicated now, as Dexeres was starting to lose patience.  At that, Emmxett smiled, for it seemed that this is what he wanted to do.  In a split second, he disappeared then reappeared right behind Dexeres, striking his back and delivering a fatal wound.  Dexeres groaned in pain, and the Keyblade Wielders looked on in shock. “Dexeres, no!” Mickey shouted, clenching his fists in anger.  But Dexeres stood up, even though his back was considerably hurting, and he did his best to shake off the pain.

The other Keyblade Wielders were starting to get nervous.  Certainly they knew that Dexeres could win, but there was no denying that Emmxett was an incredibly talented swordsman.  They felt nervous, but they had faith that Dexeres could pull through in the end.  And it’s that faith that encouraged Dexeres to shake off all the pain he was feeling.  “I can’t let my friends down now.  I need to end this battle quickly!” Dexeres said to himself, as he sighed deeply and then regained his focus on Emmxett, who was waiting for Dexeres’ next move.  Contrary to Emmxett’s expectations, Dexers didn’t charge forward or attempted a Reversal attack.  Instead, he flung his Keyblade in a zigzag, momentarily disorienting Emmxett long enough for Dexeres to summon twilit Firaga spheres that headed straight to Emmxett’s feet, causing him to fall down and finally unveil an opening.  With that, Dexeres took it to himself to take advantage of this opportunity, as he caught his Keyblade and then slashed Emmxett’s left shoulder, causing a considerable wound to form there.

As Dexeres finally inflicted a wound upon Emmxett, he felt like things were starting to become a bit more simple.  Now that he had finally broken through his defenses, it was time to capitalize on his momentary vulnerability.  With that, he continued his assault, relentlessly shooting twilit lasers at Emmxett, making sure he wouldn’t have a second to breathe.  Emmxett, who was being decimated, tried to fight back, but he had no momentary pause, and so he quickly looked to his surroundings, thinking of anything that could help him get out of this predicament.  After a few seconds of searching, he smirked and then he suddenly stabbed the floor with his fingers, causing it to crack, and then he tore part of the concrete floor and used it as a shield to block the rest of the lasers.  He then pushed the big chunk of concrete floor forcefully at Dexeres, forcing his suddenly distracted foe to cease the lasers.  “I will admit that you caught me off guard, my fearsome rival.  But that is the last time it will happen!” Emmxett said confidently, picking his Kuzuri up from the floor and readying himself.  “No!  And I had just broken through his defenses!” Dexeres thought, now angered that his advantage was lost.

Emmxett took advantage of Dexeres’ sudden pause and he leapt up and started to channel vast power of twilight through his body, obtaining energy from all around him.  “You see, my dear rival, this twilit field also amplifies my powers.  So now you shall bear witness to my ultimate technique!  Dancing Blades!” he shouted, as all of a sudden, a shower of swords started raining down to surround Dexeres, the blades teeming with the power of light and darkness.  After the swords completely surrounded him, Emmxett landed in the circle along with Dexeres, smiling and feeling confident.  “Now, you die!” he said, as he quickly disappeared and then reappeared behind one of the swords, as he started striking accurately and with deadly precision, and he continued his onslaught with each blade, almost like if it was the handlebars of a clock.  With each strike, Dexeres was being torn apart.

The Keyblade Wielders looked on in shock, as their friend was being massacred by Emmxett’s ruthless attack.  At one point, Xion couldn’t take it anymore, and she decided that she would take action and interfere in the fight, but Vanitas and Gilgamesh stopped her.  They both shook their heads silently.  “As mentioned earlier, this is a battle that puts their honor on the line.  It is their battle to fight, and therefore, we cannot interfere.” Gilgamesh said.  Xion, looking distressed, felt restless. “But aren’t you guys worried about him?  What if he dies!?” she asked, looking at both Vanitas and Gilgamesh with a concerned face.  “Of course we’re worried about him.  But we can’t butt in on his battle.  He decided to go it alone, and we have to respect his choice.” Vanitas said calmly, looking onwards towards the battle.  Xion didn’t want to simply stand there and watch as her friend was being decimated, but she decided to stay put, but her heart was pounding, pleading for Dexeres to push through, no matter what.

Emmxett kept on his assault, keeping Dexeres pinned in the center of the circle of blades, and then, as he pierced the last blade into Dexeres, he leapt up in the air and thrust his Kuzuri forward, swooping down and piercing it clean through Dexeres.  At that, the Keyblade Wielders remained speechless, for their hearts had stopped.  Dexeres screamed in agonizing pain, and Xion, now in tears, looked away.  Vanitas and Gilgamesh clenched their fists and stayed put.  They knew he could pull through this.  He had to.  He just had to!  Sora and the others were equally shocked, and Mickey looked down, feeling his heart ache for his friend.  But then, Dexeres started to laugh.  His laugh slowly turned maniacal, and at that, Emmxett’s eyes flared up in fear, as Dexeres gripped Emmxett’s Kuzuri tightly.  “Just as I planned!” he said as he smirked.  “What!?  What do you mean!?” Emmxett said, trying to pull his Kuzuri away from Dexeres, but he couldn’t, and it made him grow ever more fearful.  Even the Keyblade Wielders were taken aback by Dexeres’ sudden laughter, and he kept laughing.  “You did just what I wanted you to do, and I say, a job well done!” Dexeres shouted.

Just when Emmxett was about to say something, Dexeres pulled out the Kuzuri from his body, and then he held it tightly in his hand, lifting the blade up, thus, controlling the rest of the blades that Emmxett had summoned.  “Your own technique against you.” he said with a smirk, as he simply waved Kuzuri down gently, causing the blades to surround Emmxett instantly.  “I don’t understand…how is this possible!?” Emmxett asked, shocked and now helpless.  Dexeres then held his Keyblade and used it to channel his own power of twilight, changing the shape of the blades into katanas, and then infusing Zero Graviza into each of the blades.  “I analyzed your combat strategies as we fought.  I carefully kept a close watch on you and slowly adapted to your fighting style.  When I broke your defenses, that’s when I took my advantage.  And when you unleashed your Dance of Blades, that’s when I played my final hand.  I know it was a dangerous risk, but allowing myself to be attacked by your technique allowed me to learn it, and now, you are finished.” Dexeres said with confidence.  “No, that’s impossible!” Emmxett shouted in disbelief.

But no sooner that Emmxett had spoken, Dexeres had already snapped his fingers, causing the katanas to pierce through Emmxett at lightning fast speed, and then pulling him to the ground due to the Zero Graviza implanted in the katanas.  Emmxett’s body was literally being crushed, and he was helpless to do anything about it.  Dexeres looked onward silently, awaiting for his rival’s eventual demise.  But just at the last moment, Emmxett did a reckless action by pulling himself away from the pull of the katanas.  Everyone looked on in shock as Emmxett slowly pulled out of his death trap, and even Dexeres was shocked, and before he could do anything, Emmxett had already freed himself of his death trap, only to have his body severely wounded, bloodied and broken up.  He then outstretched his hand so that his Kuzuri would return to him, which it did.

Dexeres was about to charge forward, but Emmxett created an invisible wall so that he could not pass.  Emmxett laughed softly and tried to keep himself together, for he was moments away from passing out.  “It seems that I severely underestimated you, my worthy opponent.  You have proven to be quite the capable warrior.  I salute your skills as a swordsman.  From a warrior’s honor to another, you have my respect.  Let us meet again real soon.” he said.  Dexeres, looking at Emmxett intently, nodded and smiled.  “Until then, rival.” he said, and with that, Emmxett summoned a portal of darkness and started to walk away until the dark portal consumed him and made him disappear.  With that, the battle was over, and Dexeres had won.  The Keyblade Wielders quickly rushed towards Dexeres, and Kairi cast Curaga on him to heal his wounds.

“Are you crazy!?  You almost got killed you big dummy!” Donald squawked, and at that, Dexeres laughed softly.  “Thank you for your concern my friends.  And thank you for your faith in me, and for not interfering in this battle.  I know it must have been rough on you all, but I had to fight him alone.  Please understand.  I had to do it alone.” Dexeres said apologetically.  Vanitas and Gilgamesh helped him up and they smiled.  “You did good.” Vanitas said while smiling, and Gilgamesh nodded in agreement.  “You upheld your honor Dexeres.” Gilgamesh said, and everyone looked at Dexeres with the utmost respect.  Dawn then looked upwards, where the final floor of the castle loomed.  “Guys, we’re almost there.  I can sense his powerful presence.” she said, a tinge of fear in her voice.  Riku held her close to him and smiled.  “It’ll be okay.  We’ll get through this, I promise.” he said with confidence.  Sora nodded and put his arms behind his head.  “That’s right Riku, you said it!  Come on guys, we have to keep going, Xylek is waiting up ahead for us!” Sora shouted, and with that, the Keyblade Wielders quickly ascended upwards, where Xylek would be waiting for them…

Chapter 43: The Finest Hour Part 3 Of 10-The Clash Of Storms

After having witnessed the battle between Emmxett and Dexeres, the Keyblade Wielders ascended ever upwards, almost reaching the final floor of the castle, where Xylek would be waiting for them.  They knew who they were going up against, and they were ready to give it their all to defeat him.  As they entered through a menacingly large gate, they found themselves in what seemed to be a garden.  But instead of a lively garden, it was dull and gray, due to the twilit field that Emmxett had created.  Ahead of them was the gate they needed to go through to reach the tower, to stop Xylek once and for all.  Just as they were going to walk through it, they heard a sudden burst of laughter, and they quickly summoned their Keyblades, ready to face whoever was waiting for them.  When they heard the laughter again, they were now feeling uneasy, and that is when Jexana appeared before them, looking as calm, cool and collected as usual.  “Well, it seems you’ve actually managed to make it this far.  For that, I congratulate you.” she said, sitting down on the steps, where the gate loomed behind her.

Vanitas then felt the strong presence of three people, and he then glared at Jexana, while she was just smiling.  “You have Ventus, Trish and Kyle with you, isn’t that right?” he asked, already knowing the answer.  At that, she clapped her hands and then nodded in agreement.  “Correct, dark one, I do have your three friends. But don’t worry, they’re not hurt or anything of the sort.” she said while smirking.  Kairi, enraged, clenched her fists and glared at her.  “What did you to do to them!?” she demanded.  Seeing Kairi’s reaction, Jexana laughed, as if she had just been told the funniest joke.  “Oh, you should see the look on your face, it’s priceless!” she said, basking in her enjoyment of the moment.  Vanitas impatiently shook his head and stood firm.  “Cut the jokes.  Where are they?” he asked.

Jexana simply smiled and then she snapped her fingers, and instantly, two cages of darkness materialized, and in those cages, Trish and Kyle were unconscious.  As for Ventus, he leapt from above the gate and landed right by Jexana’s side.  “That’s your question answered for you.” she said sarcastically.  Vanitas then pointed his Keyblade at Jexana, and he had deadly eyes now. “Give them back, if you know what’s good for you.” he threatened.  Jexana, who only kept smirking, crossed her arms and shook her head.  “Do you think I’m just going to give them back to you that easily?  No, I believe you are quite mistaken.  If I let them go just like that, it would ruin my reputation!” she said distressfuly.  Vanitas then stabbed his Keyblade into the ground, causing three gashes to form in the concrete floor due to his Keyblade’s power.

“Give them back…now.” he threatened once more.  Jexana then slowly stood up, and she started walking towards Vanitas, and then she instantly appeared right in front of him, and she twirled her fingers on his chest.  “You know, I like you.  You’d make a fine bodyguard for my beloved Ventus.  Hmm, I guess a battle would determine how useful you can be to me.” she declared, and with that, she snapped her fingers, and she glanced over her shoulder at Ventus.  “My beloved Ventus, please take care of this fool for me.  He’s a real nuisance!” she said in a seductive tone.  Ventus, who looked like a lifeless puppet, with pale blue eyes, nodded.  “Yes, as you command Jexana my love.” he said coldly.  Vanitas shook his head at this nonsense and he looked quite irritated now.  “That’s enough!  I’m going to make you snap out of this you dweeb, and after that, your going to receive a good beating again for being a moron!” he declared, ready for battle.  Ventus summoned his Keyblade and stood firm.  “You…will…die.” he said lifelessly.

(Start Song Here)

With that, Vanitas and Ventus clashed, and a strong gust of wind emanated from both of them, causing them both to fall back.  Since they are both equal in power, this would prove to be a difficult fight.  Jexana smirked and then she snapped her fingers, causing a considerable amount of Unborn to appear.  “This ought to keep the rest of you busy.” she said to the Keyblade Wielders, as she summoned pillars of darkness to walk upwards to, and then sat at the top of the wall where the gate was, so she could have a good view of the battle.  “This should be fun.” she said enthusiastically.  Sora looked all around him and saw the Unversed looming closer.  “Guys, we can’t let them surround us!  Spread out!  Keep them away from Vanitas!” he said, and everyone nodded in unison, as they charged towards the swarms of Unborn awaiting them.  Vanitas was blocking Ventus’ swift attacks, and then he counterattacked by leaping up and swooping down underground, and then he rose up from the ground and grabbed Ventus by the leg and slammed him to the ground.  “This is funny.  Your my friend and I still end up fighting you. Go figure.” he said as he swooped down to attack Ventus.

Ventus quickly blocked Vanitas’ attack, and then he punched Vanitas in the chest, and then he proceeded to perform a Reversal attack to disorient him.  Vanitas was luckily able to dodge, but it was still a close call.  “Like old times, don’t you agree?” Vanitas asked while smirking.  Ventus said nothing, for his silence spoke for him.  Vanitas now looked irritated.  “You know, your really starting to piss me off with your silence you dweeb.  Snap out of it already!” he shouted, as he leapt up and cast crackling thunder shards of black and white to descend upon Ventus.  The battle was not going anywhere right now, for both of them were equally matched.  Ventus flung his Keyblade towards Vanitas, freezing his feet, and then he lunged fiercely fast in front of him, hitting him with his elbow and then taking the Keyblade from the ground and slashing him.

At that, Vanitas leapt back, and then he glanced quickly over his shoulder, as he saw his friends fending off the Unborn.  “I can’t keep them waiting for too long, or else we’ll get overrun.” he said to himself, and then he turned his attention back to Ventus, who raised his Keyblade in the air and then started to absorb energy from Trish and Kyle’s bodies.  Vanitas, shocked, quickly shot three Blizzaga shards to stop him from absorbing Trish and Kyle’s energy.  Ventus was knocked down, and Vanitas stood on top of him, his Keyblade pointed to his throat.  “What’s wrong with you!?  Can’t you see that your hurting the ones you love!?  Trish and Kyle aren’t your energy source, they’re your family you moron!” he shouted, hoping to knock some sense into Ventus.  But Ventus remained ever so lifeless and emotionless, quickly knocking down Vanitas and then using his Aeroga spell.

Vanitas, caught right in the middle of the spell, was flung back towards the ground, and for a moment, he felt dizzy, but then he shook his head and reoriented himself.  “Oh, so that’s how it is, isn’t it?  Heh, two can play at that game!” he said, as he then disappeared then reappeared in front of Ventus, performing his Dark Splicer attack, inflicting considerable damage to Ventus, and then casting Aeroga.  This time, it was Ventus who was caught in the spell, and then his body jerked around in the strong gust of wind like a rag doll, and then he fell to the ground, and a sickening thud could be heard as he fell.  Vanitas summoned three Firaga spheres and held them at the ready just in case, and he waited for Ventus to get up.  “Please snap out of it…I don’t want to have to hurt you, stupid idiot.” he said to himself, as he kept himself at the ready.  Ventus slowly stood up, and then he struck his Keyblade to the ground, causing an enormous tremor to occur. Vanitas, who stood firm despite the tremor, glanced over his shoulder and saw a few of his friends falling down, but they quickly got back up.  He then turned over to Ventus, who was on top of him and with a sphere of light ready to explode.

With a split second to act, Vanitas used his Firaga spheres to block the sphere of light that Ventus had created, but the sphere of light still managed to explode, inflicting fatal damage to Vanitas.  Ventus walked over to him slowly, and he pointed his Keyblade to his throat.  “Vanitas…you are a threat to my beloved Jexana…you must be eliminated…” he proclaimed.  Vanitas, spitting out blood and feeling out of breath, shook his head and laughed.  “Listen to you.  You sound like a stupid robot.  It looks like it’s going to take a bit more forceful jogging to snap you out of this.” he said, slowly standing up.  His body was scratched and bruised from the sphere of light Ventus had created, and his chest felt like it was about to burst wide open.  “You know kid, you did quite a number on me.  I didn’t know you had it in you.” he said, picking up his Keyblade and then enveloping himself in a sphere of darkness.  “This is going to end now.” he said, and Ventus remained unfazed by Vanitas’ sudden threat.  As the Keyblade Wielders fought off the Unborn, Xion managed to glance over at Vanitas and saw him preparing his attack.  “Good luck Vanitas.” Xion said quietly, and then she continued to slay the Unborn.

As Ventus slowly walked towards Vanitas, he suddenly felt the ground tremble , and then multiple copies of Vanitas started to come out of the sphere of darkness, striking at Ventus with deadly accurate precision and swordsmanship, and when the final copy attacked, Vanitas came out of the sphere of darkness and knocked Ventus down forcefully.  “I’m sorry about this kid, but you made me do this to you.” he said, as he grabbed Ventus by the head and slammed him to the ground.  At that, Jexana gasped and her face changed from a smiling face to a concerned face.  “No!  Ventus!” she said, and then she swooped down and snapped her fingers, causing the Unborn to increase in numbers, and then she stood in front of Vanitas.  “You harmed my beloved Ventus…how could you do this to him!?” she asked demandingly.  Vanitas simply smirked and shrugged.  “Because I felt like it.” he said, taunting Jexana.

Enraged, Jexana prepared to attack Vanitas, and the Unborn were just about to overwhelm the Keyblade Wielders, when all of a sudden, Kyle’s cage began to rattle.  Jexana looked back in confusion, and suddenly, Kyle’s unconscious body started to radiate the dark light inside him, and she gasped.  “Of all times, why does it have to be now!?” she protested, as Kyle suddenly started to change in form.  The cage instantly broke as Kyle’s power overflowed from him, and then his body changed into the form of a shadow wolf, and with its mighty howl, it radiated a blinding light that consumed the Unborn and weakened Jexana greatly.  When the light died down, Kyle reverted back to his normal self, unconscious.  The others quickly went to him, while Vanitas was just about to break the other cage to free Trish.  But Jexana, still having enough strength left, delivered a powerful sphere of darkness, which got in Vanitas’ way.

When Vanitas broke through the sphere, he noticed that Trish had disappeared, and so had Ventus, and only Jexana remained.  “You may have gotten Kyle, but your not going to get Ventus or Trish!  They belong to me now!” she said with a smirk, as she snapped her fingers, creating a portal of darkness from which she disappeared.  Vanitas clenched his fists and cursed under his breath.  “I wasn’t able to save them…” he said to himself, and Xion, who walked up to him, put her hand on his shoulder.  “You did your best Vanitas.  You did all that you could.  I’m sure we’ll see them again.” she said in a comforting tone.  Vanitas appreciated the thought, and then he turned around and saw Kyle, who was unconscious, and he went towards him.  “This kid is hurt badly.  He hasn’t even woken up.” he said in a concerned tone.  “Gosh, we can’t keep him here in harm’s way, we have to send him someplace safe!” Mickey said.  Dawn suddenly walked up to Kyle and she put her hand on his forehead.  “I’ll send him to his home in Radiant Garden.  He will be safe there.” she said, and with her powers, she teleported him out of the fortress and into Radiant Garden, and Kyle was safe and sound now.

Chapter 44: The Finest Hour Part 4 Of 10-A Hope For A Brighter Future

(Start Song Here)

After having made sure that Kyle was safely teleported away to Radiant Garden, the Keyblade Wielders marched forward, ready to face Xylek in his tower.  It took them a considerable amount of minutes to reach the top, but eventually, they were able to do so.  But they had made it up without coming across any Unborn, which was both a relief and a worry.  The fact that they hadn’t come upon any Unborn on their way up was suspicious, and they suspected that a trap was awaiting them.  They kept that possibility in their minds, and they maintained themselves at full alert, to make sure that they’d be prepared for whatever would come their way.  They almost jumped in place when they heard a harsh laugh from across the room of the tower, and there he was.  Xylek.  The genesis of this crisis.  They stood there looking at him, and he stood there mocking them, and then he sat down calmly to his seat and he applauded slowly.  “Well done Keyblade Wielders.  You have done good in making it this far.  In fact, I was counting on it.” he said as he smirked.

“What do you mean by that!?” Dexeres asked demandingly.  Xylek simply raised his hand for Dexeres to shut up.  He then proceeded to look out the nearest window, where the sky was covered in a dark purple fog of darkness.  “Ah, isn’t that quite the sight?” he asked fleetingly, as if he was simply drifting here and there.  He then turned his attention back to the Keyblade Wielders and he pointed out towards the window.  “You see, out there, it has already begun.  My plan has come to fruition, and you have failed to stop me.  Your plans have been foiled Keyblade Wielders.  Your brave attempts to save the worlds has been in vain.” he said in a relaxed tone.  Mickey, who was enraged, turned around to face Xylek and stood firm with unwavering determination.

“It’s not over yet!” Mickey shouted.  Xylek, who was now amused with the sentence he had just heard, turned his attention to the little mouse.  “I beg your pardon?” he asked with a cocky smile.  Mickey again proclaimed his statement.  “It’s not over yet!”  At that, Xylek started to walk around Mickey in circles.  “So, you think that your brave words can change anything?  You think that your words can undo what I have already done?” he asked in a confident way, knowing that he already had the victory.  Mickey simply breathed in and then he allowed himself a smirk, very uncommon for the king.  His face had seemed to turn very mischievous, and then he whispered to Xylek.  “It’s because you are weak.” he said.  At that, Xylek opened his eyes wide and then he stood back a few steps, carefully analyzing Mickey’s statement.

Only after what seemed to be a minute did Xylek snap out of his sudden pause, and then he reaffirmed his focus on Mickey.  “What did you say?” he asked intently.  The other Keyblade Wielders were silent, watching on as Mickey and Xylek were confronting each other face to face.  “I said that you are weak, and that’s why you haven’t won!” Mickey said, letting the words hang in the fair for a few seconds before making it into Xylek’s consciousness.  Xylek simply laughed and then he made his way back to his seat.  “You are very mistaken mouse.  I have the worlds in my grasp now.  I am the king now, so all of you now answer to me!” he said, regaining his confident composure.  But the Keyblade Wielders did not heed Xylek’s words, as they stood defiantly in front of him.  Xylek then clenched his fists and glared at each of the Keyblade Wielders.  “I am your king now, so you bow to me!” he proclaimed.  Dawn stepped forward and pointed her Keyblade at him.  “We will not bow down to a tyrant.” she said, looking into Xylek’s eyes with flaring anger.

At that, Xylek almost lost his composure completely, but he was able to restrain himself from snapping, and he simply chuckled and remained seated, looking at the Keyblade Wielders amusingly.  “Well, if you are so intent on resisting until the bitter end, then be my guest.” he said as he snapped his fingers, causing a giant, formidable looking foe to appear in front of them.  “You see, this creature here was found in Castle Oblivion by my allies Lixane and Brenxaly.  Sadly, they were defeated by this powerful being, but I was able to tame it, and now it serves me.  The most fascinating thing about this creature is that it is of unknown origin.  This powerful ally of mine shall be your end.” he said, as he chuckled and stayed put in his seat, like if he was going to watch a gladiator match.  The armor-clad being was seeping an incredible amount of darkness from its body, and its eyes flared red, and it summoned a giant dark blade, ready to battle.  “That thing’s huge!” Donald exclaimed, looking at the fourteen foot tall foe.  The Keyblade Wielders suddenly felt uneasy, but Mickey remained unwavering, as he walked towards the dark armored foe without the slightest inch of ear.

(Start Song Here)

“Come on fellas, we can’t back down now!  This is the moment of truth!  It’s now or never!” Mickey said aloud, glancing briefly over his shoulder at his friends.  Vanitas was the second to stand up front, and he nodded in agreement.  “Mickey’s right guys.  We’re already here, so if we’re gonna go down, we’ll go down with a fight.” he said with a smirk, thrilled and ready to battle.  At that, the others smiled and nodded in unison, and they all faced the dark armored foe, ready to defeat it, or die trying.  “Now!” Dawn shouted, as they all dispersed, in the hopes that they could be able to distract their foe from all sides.  But their foe was ready, as it summoned dark spikes from its body and started to fire them all at will.  The Keyblade Wielders needed to dodge as fast as they could, for the dark spikes teemed with an overwhelming amount of darkness.

Donald momentarily distracted it by casting Flare, and Goofy also did his part and flung his shield so that it could hit their foe multiple times, which only made it more irritated.  “Gwarsh Donald, I think we just made him get angrier!” he shouted out.  Donald rolled his eyes and laughed sarcastically.  “You think!?  Wait, on second thought, don’t think, just dodge!” he squawked, as they continued providing a diversion.  Dexeres and Vanitas had already climbed on its shoulders and they were trying to break its helmet, but it was impenetrable.  Gilgamesh hacked away at its legs, while Kairi and Dawn united their powers to cast Holy.  Sora charged enough energy to unleash small meteorites that fell directly in the center of the dark armored foe’s body, and for a moment, it staggered, but the darkness in it allowed it to recover quickly.  Mickey dashed and swung and attacked like a demon, fighting at lightning fast speed.

Riku used his powers of darkness to create giant crossbows and fired off blazing dark arrows, aiming for the helmet.  Xion amplified the power of the dark arrows by boosting them up with fire and ice and lightning based attacks.  Everyone was giving it their all to the battle, and they knew that they couldn’t show any weakness, that they had to do this, and do this fast.  Xylek watched on, feeling amused by the battle that was playing out before him.  He was confident that his servant would come out the victor in this battle, so he had nothing to worry about. At least not yet. The Keyblade Wielders fought hard and valiantly, defying their limitatioins and keeping themselves on guard at all times.  But the more the Keyblade Wielders resisted, the more infuriated the dark armoed foe became.  It suddenly unleashed an increasingly powerful dark aura, and it started to move around the room at an astonishingly fast speed, disorienting the Keyblade Wielders.  “It’s too fast!  What do we do now?” Xion asked, trying to keep an eye on the dark armored foe’s movements.  Mickey then leapt face first towards the wall, where he stabbed the Keyblade, therefore, stabbing their foe in place.  “I got him!  Everyone, hit this thing with all you’ve got!” he shouted.

Everyone nodded in unison, and they took advantage of this small opportunity and started to wail away at their foe, weakening it slowly but surely.  Now Xylek was starting to get mad. “These imbeciles just won’t quit…” he said to himself, questioning why the Keyblade Wielders resisted so much.  As he looked on, he saw with the great force that they attacked his servant.  Vanitas struck the lower chest area with his Void Gear, and left craclking electricity in the wake of his attack, and then he leapt back so Gilgamesh could throw his Chocobo daggers straight into the lower chest opening.  Riku fired off a dark arrow directly at their foe’s ribcage, and Xion cast Blizzaga on its arms.  Kairi cast Firaga on it’s legs, and Donald cast Thundaga through its whole body, while Goofy smashed away at its helmet.  Dexeres performed Zantetsuken, slicing off a piece of the armor clean out.  Sora dished out an Ars Arcanum attack, slicing off more bits of armor, and Mickey cast Holy on its neck, causing it to shake and tremble in pain.  Then, last but not least, there was Dawn, who had saved herself for last.  Her Keyblade was radiating with unquenchable power, and Xylek opened his eyes wide in shock.

“No…it cannot be…” he whispered, as he saw what was happening before him.  Dawn’s powers began to overflow, as the power of light overwhelmed her body, and soon after, the goddess started to awaken inside her.  She tried to awaken, but Dawn stayed in control.  “I promised myself…I promised myself that I wouldn’t lose control ever again.” she thought in her mind, as she tried her best to keep the goddess sealed within her.  Her Keyblade was radiating even more power, and crackling beams of twilight ricocheted all over the room, causing the ceiling to crumble down on them.  Luckily, Dawn had cast a protective barrier while the ceiling was breaking. That way, her friends wouldn’t be crushed by the debris.  She then continued to  overflow her energy, as her Keyblade was starting to get consumed by the power of twilight.  She was doing all in her power to control herself, but she could feel the goddess coming.

The Keyblade Wielders were now worried.  Would Dawn be able to control her powers?  Would she be able to distinguish friend from foe?  But it seemed as though fate knew that something dire would happen, for Xylek rose from his seat and snapped his fingers, causing his servant to disappear into thin air.  “Oh no, you will not defeat my servant.” he said, fists clenched.  Mickey smirked again, and then he looked directly at Xylek.  “See?  It’s just as I told you.  This isn’t over yet because you are weak!” he shouted.  Xylek then opened the palm of his hand and unleashed a wave of powerful twilight.  “Shut up!” Xylek shouted, as he opened a portal of darkness behind him.  “He’s getting away!” Dexeres exclaimed, noticing Xylek intending to escape.  Vanitas quickly reacted to the spur of the moment.  “I got it!” he said as he plunged himself into the ground and rose up right behind Xylek.  “Peek-a-boo.” he taunted.

Xylek was now at his breaking point.  It seemed that he was on his last nerve.  Immediately, the fortress began to shake, as if a great earthquake were bringing it down.  But this was no earthquake.  This was Xylek’s anger.  “You will not foil my plans you imbeciles!” he roared, unleashing an ever increasingly powerful aura of darkness and twilight, causing the whole fortress to morph and distort into what seemed to be another dimension.  The Keyblade Wielders looked all over, as the fortress was gone, and now they seemed to be in an interdimensional rift.  They could see billions of stars and countless galaxies all around them, and they were standing on air.  Well, if it was air anyway.  “What is this place!?” Sora asked aloud, feeling awe struck but at the same time overwhelmed by his surroundings.  Xylek, who loomed ahead of the Keyblade Wielders, was floating above them, darkness pouring from the palms of his hands, and his eyes flared with vitality.  “This, my dear Keyblade Wielders, is the universe.  We are at the Cosmic Throne, the viewpoint from which all galaxies can be observed and studied.  And this will be your final resting place!” he said as he laughed maniacally.

Chapter 45: The Finest Hour Part 5 Of 10-Xylek’s Unparalleled Rage

(Start Song Here)

The Keyblade Wielders had been battling the dark armored foe, but now Xylek had transported them to the Cosmic Throne, a place where the entire galaxy and countless others could be seen, according to Xylek’s words.  Never in their lives had the Keyblade Wielders seen such a magnificent sight.  Countless stars and galaxies and endless horizons were all around them, but unfortunately, they didn’t have the time to admire the scenery, for now, Xylek was about to unleash his power against them.  “Now, you shall all vanish!  You shall die a miserable and wretched death!” he proclaimed, as he shot out an immense wave of darkness with his right hand, causing the Keyblade Wielders to disperse.  “You shall not defeat me.  I cannot be stopped!” he said, as he slowly walked towards Xion.  He had his sights set on her first.  “Ah yes, Xion.  You were such a good ally.  It’s unfortunate that you had to come to your senses and join these imbeciles.  After all, if it was not for my powers, you would not be here right now.” he said with a smirk.

Xion knew this to be true.  She knew that it was because of Xylek that she was brought back to life.  She was ashamed that it had to be by his hands, but she was at the same time thankful for her second chance at life, and now that she was with her friends, she wouldn’t go down without a fight.  And so, she was the first to strike, charging forward and attempting to slice Xylek’s chest, but he simply dodged and then hit Xion’s forehead with with the palm of his hand, causing her to scream in pain, and then Xylek hit her back, and then he flung her to his right.  She was already weakened, and the battle hadn’t even gone on for five minutes.  Immediately, the others went to aid Xion, but Xylek dispatched them all effortlessly.  They were all surprised, and frankly, they were not dealing a dent of damage on him.

“If you are all wondering how I brought Xion back to life, then I shall tell you.  To put it simply, I tapped into the powers of the universe, and in the flow of the stars, I saw her heart, and her soul, and so I hauled her in and brought her back.  She should have stayed under my control, but thanks to you imbeciles, she regained her own free will.  Her heart is so strong that she cannot even be controlled by my Keyblade like I had once done to Kyle.  She has the will to live on, and thus, she will not let herself be controlled.  She is a captivating person, of that much I will say.” he said, as he raised his hand and then rained down crackling shards of electricity down to the Keyblade Wielders.  They all managed to dodge the attack, but as they dodged, Xylek had proceeded to summon his Keyblade.

“Behold you fools.  Witness the seed of your destruction!” he said, as his Keyblade emanated immense energy and darkness.  The Keyblade Wielders were stunned, and they noticed that Xylek’s Keyblade had actually changed form.  The Keyblade was now larger, and it had the dark purple color of darkness, almost as dark as the universe itself.  He rained down countless blood red daggers infused with powerful darkness, giving the Keyblade Wielders no time to rest in between attacks.  Sora, Donald and Goofy tried to approach him from the side, but he simply summoned a gigantic hand of darkness that swapped them away like if they were nothing more than bugs.  Riku, Dawn, Kairi and Mickey tried to take him out by using long ranged attacks, but that also failed, as he simply used Reflectga to ricochet their attacks back at them.  Vanitas tried summoning Unversed to help turn the tide, but at the simple snap of Xylek’s fingers, they disappeared quicker than they appeared.  Dexeres also tried to summon Nobodies, but to no avail, as Xylek made them vanish as well.

Immediately after, Vanitas and Dexeres attempted to charge at Xylek head on, combining both of their powers to form a blazing dark wave of twilight, but Xylek simply took in the attack, absorbing it like it was nothing more than a simple speck of dust.  Gilgamesh summoned his greatest weapon, Excalibur, and attempted to duel one on one with Xylek, but he was quickly brought down by Xylek’s Keyblade, which made him fall on his back instantly.  They were being outmatched by their greatest foe, and there was nothing they could do about it except keep on fighting.  “We fight until the very last breath!” Sora shouted, flinging his Keyblade for a Strike Raid attack, which ultimately failed as Xylek simply deflected the attack.  Things were getting ever more difficult, for the Keyblade Wielders weren’t finding any openings or any rest to figure out their next move.  All they could do was dodge, block and try to counterattack.  They were lucky that they were still alive up to this point.  Xylek wasn’t even breaking a sweat, for all he did was stand in front of them, using his powers and only moving in the slightest.  But when he did move, it was very very bad.

“Now you shall know true darkness!” Xylek proclaimed, enveloping himself in a seemingly endless amount of darkness, his Keyblade teeming with even more power.  “Guys, we have to find a way to harm him!” Xion shouted, and the Keyblade Wielders now desperately tried to deal damage to Xylek, but all their efforts were being wasted, for now the darkness was so strong that it created a force field that started to grow in mass and size, thus, making the Keyblade Wielders rethink their strategy.  “We only have a split second to think…but what can we do?” Dexeres thought to himself, looking all around him to see if there was something, anything that could remotely help them.  Then, a thought came to him.  “Guys, I have an idea.  Follow my lead!” he said, and almost as if on instinct, it seemed the others were thinking the same thing he was thinking.

All of them stood side by side, and they started charging their energy, their power seeping through them.  Xylek paid no mind to what they were doing, as he simply continued to charge his powers of darkness, and after a few seconds, Vanitas gave the signal.  “Now!” he shouted, and with that, everyone unleashed all their power, directing it toward Xylek.  And with that, Xylek started to absorb their powers, becoming ever more powerful the longer the Keyblade Wielders kept feeding him energy.  “Ha, you fools, you are just making me more powerful!  You are bringing your own demise!” he said as he laughed. “Exactly.” Vanitas said with a smirk, and at that, Xylek look confused.  “What are you smiling about!?” he demanded to know.  Vanitas simply shrugged and then found his words.  “The only bad thing about having too much power is that there comes a moment when all that power breaks down.” he said.

Before Xylek could even say anything, his force field was pulverized, and all the energy that had been given to him by the Keyblade Wielders did more harm to him than good.  The powers of light, darkness and twilight bound him tight and took away a great amount of his power, and then he was battered to the ground by his own power, now laying defeated…or so it would seem.  Mickey gripped his Keyblade tightly and looked to his friends.  “This isn’t over yet guys…” he said.  Sora was about to question why when Xylek stood up, now even angrier than before.  “You stripped me of my powers.  Heh, that was well played.  But you forget one thing you foolish ingrates.  I draw my powers from the universe, and right now, we are surrounded by countless galaxies!  Your hopes and efforts are in vain!  No matter how much you attempt to harm me, I will keep using the power of the universe and all the others surrounding it to kill you!” he said as he laughed mocking at his opponents.  The Keyblade Wielders were distraught.  Was there nothing they could do to defeat Xylek for good?  Was their battle really that hopeless?  Were they going to meet their end here?

Mickey could sense the uncertainty of his friends, and for a moment, he too was feeling uncertain of their fate.  But he knew he needed to encourage his friends, to ensure them that not all was lost.  “Come on fellas, we can’t give up now!  We have to keep on fighting, we fight until our very last breath!”  he said, as he went forward to attack Xylek.  The Keyblade Wielders regained their resolve, and they continued onward, attacking Xylek, blocking and dodging his attacks.  Xylek had the upper hand now, and then he summoned twenty dark blades that surrounded him, a barrier to prevent the Keyblade Wielders from getting any closer to him.  He attacked them all relentlessly and mercilessly, leaving no window open for them to attack him.  His power increased with each passing second, until he was suddenly caught off guard by a beam of light that pierced through him.  Shocked, he fell down, and the dark blades disappeared, leaving him vulnerable.  The Keyblade Wielders were taken by surprise, and when they looked back, they saw Dawn, who had unleashed the power of the goddess.  It seemed that the tide had now turned in their favor.

With power of twilight overflowing, Dawn slowly walked toward Xylek, with Keyblade in hand, her eyes a bright, piercing white, as she made her way towards him.  He was now defenseless, but he wasn’t going to let himself be defeated yet.  “Ah yes, the Goddess of Twilight.  Your power is a great one.  It’s a shame you are such an untameable entity, for you would have served my purposes quite nicely.” he said, allowing himself a smirk.  He quickly charged forward, unleashing a great many blood daggers, hoping to corner Dawn, but she simply destroyed the blood daggers before they were even able to go near her.  She then appeared right in front of him at lightning fast speed, and then she grabbed him by the throat, launching him upwards and then slicing him with her Keyblade.  “Let’s help her!” Riku said, but Mickey stopped him.  “No.  We have to let her take care of this.” he said.

Riku was about to protest when Mickey looked at him intently.  “We could help her, but she now wields the power of the goddess.  Even though she’s fighting against Xylek, chances are that she’ll harm us as well.  Remember that she couldn’t control her powers when we were in Kosaku’s fortress.  She hasn’t fully been able to control her powers.” he said wisely.  Riku really wanted to help Dawn, but Mickey was right.  He couldn’t step in, for Dawn’s powers were indeed out of her control, so all they could do now was watch and hope for the best.  “I know you can do it Dawn.  I know you can be able to take control of yourself, because I believe in you, and I know you won’t let the goddess take over.” he thought to himself, putting his hand to his chest.  The Keyblade Wielders were now bearing witness to Dawn’s true powers, and it was definitely something to behold.

Xylek was being decimated by Dawn, as he was unable to block, dodge or counterattack any of her attacks.  He continued to weaken, until Dawn grabbed him by the throat again and then proceeded to fling him down, inflicting a great deal of damage upon him.  He struggled to stand, and Dawn landed forcefully on his spine, causing a sickening cracking sound to resonate.  The Keyblade Wielders were speechless, as Xylek was being flung around like if he was nothing more than a toy.  “You are one who seeks to disrupt the balance of the universe.  You wish to seek the power of Kingdom Hearts to use as your vessel to conquer other universes.  Kingdom Hearts is everlasting, and it is all around us.  You threaten to disrupt the balance and take Kingdom Hearts for your own.  I will not allow it.” Dawn said in her cold voice.  At that, Xylek started to laugh, as he slowly stood up.  How he was able to stand after that grueling beating was beyond comprehension, and he seemed to be greatly enjoying this.  “I bow to no one.  Not even you, Goddess of Twilight!” he said defiantly, readying his Keyblade.  “Then…you shall fall.” she said, as she overflowed with mighty power.

Chapter 46: The Finest Hour Part 6 Of 10-The Power Of The Goddess And The Might Of Kingdom Hearts

(Start Song Here)

The Goddess of Twilight and Xylek were staring down, seemingly put in their positions, not moving in the slightest, as if they had been frozen in place.  The Keyblade Wielders were a breath away from desperation, and tension was rising high.  Xylek, who raised his arm, was the first to make his move.  “You will be the one bowing down to me, Goddess!” he shouted, as he unleashed strings of darkness that headed towards Dawn, but she simply flicked the strings away as if they were nothing more than useless scraps of paper.  Xylek, in turn, only continued to keep smirking.  “Ah yes, that’s it, provide me with a challenge!” he taunted, as he dashed towards Dawn, clasing blades with her, and as they clashed blades, the sparks that flew were magnificent and radiating an incredibly overpowered aura, as if their blades were causing the whole universe to shake.  The Keyblade Wielders looked on, hoping for the best, and Riku, who had his hand placed on his chest, held on tightly to the hope that Dawn could bring her power into control.

As they watched on, the battle between Dawn and Xylek became that much more intense, as their attacks became increasingly powerful with each passing second.  Dawn teleported a few feet away from Xylek and then she spread her arms and legs wide, causing four arms of light to emanate from Dawn’s back, stretching out of her body and heading towards Xylek in an attempt to outwit him.  But he was one step ahead, as he unleashed a wave of darkness that cleaved through the arms of light to dissipate and shatter like glass.  They then collided, and the force of their attack caused shockwaves to ripple through the universe, their struggle one of great power.  “You will not break the balance…” Dawn said coldly.  Xylek simply laughed, clearly enjoying this battle.  “We will see about that.” he proclaimed.

He then dashed back and opened his hand, an orb of twilight forming from his palm.  He charged it in merely three seconds, and then he flung it towards Dawn, but she was able to block it, but Xylek laughed and nodded.  “I have you now!”  he shouted, as he snapped his fingers, causing the orb of twilight to create a forcefield of crimson red energy, as it started to compress and close in on Dawn, threatening to crush her.  For a moment it seemed that Xylek had actually succeeded in outwitting the Goddess, but that was a fatal mistake he made, for Dawn, unleashing her powers, broke through the crimson red energy forcefield in less than three seconds, then quickly forming a sphere of light that fired off countless beams of light.  Her own Ragnarok attack.

Xylek, stuck in a momentary shock, was hit by a few of the beams, but then he snapped back into action and blocked and dodged the rest, even managing to deflect some of them back to her.  Then she raised her Keyblade upwards, causing an immense gale of wind to blow down on Xylek, and when he looked up, he saw meteors falling down, one by one.  And so, a rain of meteors showered down on Xylek, greatly damaging him.  When the storm of meteors subsided, Xylek was battered and weak, unable to stand, but he didn’t stop smiling.  “Do not think that this is over.  For I also wield the power of a God!” he said, as he snapped his fingers, causing his wounds to heal instantly.  Dawn didn’t look impressed, and she simply teleported right in front of him and then gave him a powerful, firm slap to the face, sending him flying.  Xylek himself was shocked by this, for he didn’t expect to be slapped like that.  But then he stood up and slammed his Keyblade down, causing spikes of crimson twilight to engulf Dawn.  She brushed off the attack like it was nothing, then she continued assaulting him.

The Keyblade Wielders were now getting desperate, for the battle dragged on with no clear signs of a victor.  Riku was trying to remain calm, but the more he saw the powers of the Goddess, the more he feared for Dawn.  “Please hang in there…” he thought to himself, hoping that this singular thought would reach Dawn. The others looked on hopefully.  They wanted to help, but they knew that as long as Dawn was like this, they couldn’t interfere.  But suddenly, something caught their attention.  They heard a sound that could have been mistaken for a door opening slowly.  When they turned around, they indeed saw a door slowly opening.  In fact, it was a door that was considerably big, possibly more than a hundred feet.  The door creaked on louder, and through the cracks of the door, a blinding light shone through.  “Is that…can it be?” Mickey asked, rubbing his eyes in disbelief.  The others were equally shocked and speechless, for what they say was something they did not expect.  Kingdom Hearts had found its way to them, and it was now unleashing its power.  As the light of Kingdom Hearts joined with Dawn’s powers, Xylek was suddenly overwhelmed.

“The power of Kingdom Hearts is flowing within me.  You will now learn the consequences of your actions.” Dawn said coldly, as her body was suddenly bursting with a limitless amount of power, and the more she spread her arms out, the more powerful Kingdom Hearts’ light broke through the door, causing the Keyblade Wielders to cover their eyes due to the blinding light.  The door stayed only halfway open, and from the outside, no one could see anything except for the blinding light that covered it.  But the Keyblade Wielders knew that this was the light of Kingdom Hearts.  They could feel it.  Xylek looked at Dawn in disbelief and clenched his fists.  “No!  How is this possible!?  How could you summon the power of Kingdom Hearts!?  Have you truly gained control of your divine form!?” he shouted, demanding to get some answers.

Dawn said nothing, as she continued to overflow with power, and just like that, the power of light radiating from her body was taking form.  Everyone was confused for a moment, but then, when the light took complete form, they were dazzled.  The light had taken the form of a child, a seemingly innocent looking child.  The child had short, raven black hair, tanned skin, and he wore a white cloak.  When he opened his eyes, Xylek became ill.  The look on his face indicated that he was definitely afraid.  As he looked into the eyes of the child, he noticed they were a very pale gray color, and he tried to stay strong.  “W-who are you?” Xylek asked, for he couldn’t find any more words to say.  The child simply floated there in midair, as if waiting for something to happen.  The child then snapped his fingers, causing Dawn to revert back to her normal self, and the child absorbed her powers into his body.

“Dawn!” Riku shouted, quickly heading over to the unconscious Dawn.  He checked her pulse to see if she was okay, and luckily, she was all right.  “Thank goodness.” Mickey said, relieved to know that Dawn was okay.  The child then clasped his hands together, as if to make a prayer, and then he slowly breathed in and out.  “Divine power of judgment, holy eye of the beholder, mystic power of everlasting light and darkness, I call upon you to lend me your wisdom, lend me your power and strength.” the child said, as the light from Kingdom Hearts showered on him.  “Who are you!?” Xylek demanded again, this time infuriated.  The child opened his eyes sharply, staring into Xylek’s soul, and then he floated down face to face with Xylek and then shook his head slowly.  “You are but a pawn.  A lowly piece of scum.” the child uttered out heartlessly.  The Keyblade Wielders didn’t know what to make out of all this.  Who was this child?  Xylek, fed up with all this nonsense, raised his Keyblade to attack the child, but the child simply created an orb of light to hold Xylek’s armed hand in place.  “You are a fool.  You cannot tamper with the fabric of the universe.” the child said.

Xylek then smirked.  “The only fool here, is you!” he said, as he shot out a sphere of darkness straight towards the door to Kingdom Hearts.  The child tried to stop the sphere, but it was too late, for it had already stricken the door, and now it was starting to crumble down.  And with the crumbling door, the child started to fade away.  Xylek’s hand was then released from the orb.  “Heh, so much for a divine being.  Without the power of Kingdom Hearts, that child is nothing but a useless tool.  Now then, where was I? Oh yes.” he said, as he started to absorb energy from the universe. Dawn suddenly came to, and she shook her head and stuttered a bit.  “Huh?  What happened?” she asked.  Riku sighed of relief as he saw Dawn wake up, but there was no time for talking. The Keyblade Wielders wasted no more time, as they spurred into action. “Dawn, we’ll talk later, now we’re in the thick of the fight!” he said, as he helped her up. They didn’t even know what had just happened concerning the strange child, but they couldn’t stop to think about this now.  They had to put a stop to Xylek first and foremost.  They all charged toward him, with all their might.

Sora fired off a flurry of spells mixed with his melee attacks, and Donald made sure to keep a safe distance so that he could be able to cast Firaga as potently as he was able.  Goofy flung his shield toward Xylek, but the shield was simply deflected.  Vanitas and Dexeres united their powers to create a swirling whirlwind of darkness and twilight, which managed to get Xylek off balance, causing him to fall.  At that quick window of opportunity, Kairi unleashed her Holy spell, amplified by Dawn’s Keyblade, and then Mickey dashed towards Xylek, quickly striking him and showing no quarter.  Gilgamesh had now sprouted more arms, and he had more weapons at his disposal, and he made it a point to attack relentlessly and ruthlessly.  Riku used his powers of darkness to create a shadow Dragon.  He then commanded the shadow Dragon forward to completely engulf Xylek.

Xion came and leapt high in the air and added increased damage by swooping down and combining Donald’s elemental magic to engulf her Keyblade with great power.  As she struck down, the shadow Dragon became ever more enormous, and then it rained down a heavy stream of flames, completely devouring Xylek whole.  After the shadow Dragon dissipated, they had all hoped that this was enough to defeat Xylek.  Obviously, it was not.  Even though the attack was powerful and it managed to damage Xylek, it was nowhere near defeating him.  They all stood there in disbelief while Xylek simply laughed.  “I will admit, I let my guard down, and it caused me to receive your attacks unexpectedly.  But, the one severe mistake that you made was to underestimate me.  And that mistake will be your downfall.” he said, as he summoned a wall of twilight and launched it towards the Keyblade Wielders.

“Hold on everyone!” Gilgamesh shouted, as he leapt in front of his friends and used his body to hold the wall back.  Dawn quickly improvised and used her Keyblade to perform Zantetsuken, cleaving the wall in half and causing it to dissipate.  They were then beset by Xylek’s attacks, second after second, minute after minute.  It didn’t help that Xylek’s attacks became increasingly more powerful with each strike.  The Keyblade Wielders did their best to hold their ground, dodging and blocking and counterattacking Xylek’s attacks, just barely being able to keep their strengths up.  Kairi and Dawn did their best to keep the party in good health with their Curaga spells, but they were starting to feel worn out from using magic too much.  Mickey knew that their defensive strategy was wearing thin, and that it wouldn’t be long before they were facing death right in the eye.  His friends were neck deep in danger, and he didn’t want to lose any of them.  Too much was at risk now.  “I won’t let you do this!” Mickey shouted, as he stood in front of his friends and then rocketed towards Xylek, attacking him relentlessly and then proceeding to bind him with chains of light.  “You won’t win!” Mickey said, determined.
