Iwata says Nintendo hasn't been targeting children enough

Posted

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata explained during a conference held in Osaka this morning that one of the problems with the Kyoto based company is that it hasn’t targeted children enough. Iwata remains resolute and says that he’s “thinking on how to make the company stand up again.” We should hear how Nintendo plans to turn itself around during the investors meeting which takes place tomorrow.

Sorry but I'm speechless.

It is.

There is nothing wrong with marketing their console to kids . But Nintendo does not market their console enough to adults that is the problem.

I don't know why, but just the way that was worded makes me feel uncomfortable.

"hasn't targeted children enough"

*shiver*

Oh, and I don't believe he's right. I mean, maybe he's only talking about a specific demographic of children? But in my eyes, Nintendo has always been fairly kid-friendly, all around.

...Unless, of course, Iwata intends to redirect the company's focus towards the things that most kids ACTUALLY think about nowadays...

Now that thought really makes me feel uncomfortable.
