So I picked up Bravely Default.

Featured Replies

I was thinking of making a topic for this game, since I saw it in Gamestop today and it interested me. It's a melding of Final Fantasy with Dragon Quest, which makes it a new IP (Intellectual Property.) called Bravely Default.  I'm really interested in this game, and I want to know if it's really good and worth my money.  I don't care much for the micro-transaction thing, but I'd love to get the chance to play this game.  Thanks for the topic, now I'm even more interested to know what this game is about. :)

The game is beautiful nevertheless so please pick it up! It's amazing and the story is detailed and it feels really familiar with alot of aspects from Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest like you said. Though at times I feel like i'm at a low level but I'm not gaining enough EXP to grow more levels so I guess I'm doing ok lol.

I've played a bit of the demo, and it looks like a pretty good game.

Although I kinda agree that the microtransaction thing it kinda pointless, I don't think it should have such an effect as taking away from or marring the overall experience.

I downloaded the demo as well, but never played it (whoops).

Like I said, so far I've been impressed, and the micro transaction shouldn't take away from the experience, but going into the game blind like I have (I didn't even look up information, only saw a few trailers), it definitely caught me off guard.

Why is it that I had to order mine online and have it being shipped? I hate when they sell out of things in store!!!!

Also the more sales this game gets the better chance Bravely Second will come overseas so really you will be making alot of huge fans even happier so please pick it up! I wasted 50 dollars on this game, but I got the Collectors Edition :)

You picked it up- now never put it down

This is the first time I've seen anyone make a big deal out of the microtransactions. The're such a small, forgettable part of the game, I don't see the big deal. Anyway, I'm hoping to get the game ASAP. It looks like the SNES FF games, which I love. :D

If it's such a forgettable part of the game, why did they put it in then? The answer is, to make a quick buck. I could reason with it if when you bought into the transaction, it added a bit more to the game, or gave you a reward for using it. Maybe it would be okay then. But you pay (I think a dollar or around that price) for a one-use item that only lasts you one turn in the battle. I could really see a problem happening, like with mobile games, where abuse happens because someone wasn't watching how much they were spending.

To my knowledge, this is the first 3DS game to have transactions in it. All I'm saying, is that they really have no place in this game at all. It's a system put in place to take advantage of the customer. I would say that this is unexpected of Square, but then I could point anyone to look at Final Fantasy: All the Bravest, and show them a stunning example of how much they've sunk.

I will say, however, that it is a brilliant example of how the Final Fantasy games used to be, story and mechanics wise. It's done a great job conveying the story to me, without too much of a difficulty spike. It does deserve the merit that it's being given.

To be honest, I don't even respect Square all that much any more, so I guess it doesn't bother me because I can see them stooping this low. :/ I just don't think it should matter as much, since you can get through the whole game without using it.

Honestly Square makes me laugh. Micro transactions in a retail game is just stupid. If you pay $40 for a game do not put extra purchase offers like that in it. At least its a good game though.

Right and it's not like the game is broken in any way :) wink. So honestly I see no investment in that purchase.
