I thought you had to do the worlds in order. Enchanted Dominion, then Dwarf Woodlands, then Castle of Dreams. That's when Aqua first shows up and Terra decides to visit Master Yen Sid. Is it really possible to do the worlds in a different order?

Yes, you can do them in any order.
