There is always the argument that there's more to it than that. It's just one part of a larger argument. And yeah, that's true. For example, it makes sense for citizens to be able to carry guns to defend themselves in the event of a crisis.

 

BUT THEN THERE'S THIS SHIT. The only real question I can think applies is: which is the lesser evil? Currently, I'm starting to lean towards the 'Don't let just any asshole buy a gun' option. And I'm also including police, as well. Don't let just any asshole become a police officer because we are imperfect-firetrucking-people. 

 

Also, I have to wonder what exactly happened. Did the police already have their guns out? Did they just not see what he actually had in his hand and used the 'SHOOT FIRST, ASK QUESTIONS LATER' mentality? That's not supposed to be how the police operate. They're not even really supposed to shoot until the assailant shoots first. I mean, firetruck.

So this means if I have a Wii U gamepad, cops will mistaken that for a gun too? Can't wait for them to mistaken a box while answering the door as a gun as well.
