It's not random at all actually. Sony made a deal with Square for I.5 and II.5 to be exclusive to the PS3. The same deal was not made for KH III however, thereby allowing Square to put it on both systems.

 

As for the resolution, IDK about all that techy stuff, but since they're overscaling it's very likely that whichever system can handle a higher resolution and frame rate will get them.

Couple reasons why KH1.5 and 2.5 is not going to be on Xbox.

 

1. Sony struck a deal to make them exclusive.

2. Both systems do not have the same requirements (like how Xbox One has Direct X11 and PS4 has the same). Without them, it will be proven difficult to port over from PS3.

3. PS3 is more powerful, and dominates the video game market in Japan.

 

Since the contract ended, Square is allowed to release any future KH game onto Microsoft's platform now.

for number 2, I believe it will not play KHIII on 720p, it can have potential to hit 1080p by itself, but it depends on what they have to work with. If degraded, it would be 900p at best. But that's my opinion.

 

I still suggest staying on PS line, because Its still more powerful and easily dominates Japan's video game market. So SE will be releasing most games on PS3, or PS4.

1) Only the second reason is true. The KH games aren't graphically intensive enough for the PS3's extra power to be significant.

 

2) I don't think either of them will be 60fps. Single player games on PS4 and XO have generally been 30fps and I believe this will continue into the foreseeable future. The resolutions will probably be right. The PS4 will definitely be 1080p but the XO could run at 900p. Square Enix will probably do a cheap port of the PS4 version though and the XO version will be 720p like you said. The XO is certainly capable of playing games at higher resolutions than 720p and Square Enix's experience with the console for FFXV might mean a better resolution (like what happened on last gen with the FF13 games, the 360 eventually had the same resolution).

Another note I'd like to make is that people who do buy KH3 on the XOne (I think it will be very few) and have not heard anything of the KH franchise would be lost in the dark with the story. This really bothers me when I saw that it was gonna be on the XOne D:

If this is towards your decision of what to play KH3 on, I highly suggest PS4. It will be better, and I am fairly sure Exclusive Content was already announced for the PS4 version, same with FFXV.

I was wondering this too but it is just visuals so it won't really change the experience that much ( if the PS4 version is in 1080p and the Xbox One version is in 900p or 720p)

 

This will only encourage bragging rights to people who are very pro-Sony

 

 

Like Sora96 said they might figure out the Esram by then

 

or maybe this problem will stay with the Xbox One during its whole lifecycle. Who knows
