Well my NES says "It´s easy.. but the lack of story It´s 100 % true... although is forgiven cause well... was the first one.

The leveling system can make it a lot easier.

Also, ff VIII can be the easiest if you fully understand the system.

even the superboss is a joke if you understand it.
