SEPANG: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) confirms that flight MH370 is missing. MAS says Subang Air Traffic Control lost contact with the aircraft at 2.40am, Saturday.

 

In a statement issued by the airline, flight MH370, operated on the B777-200 aircraft, departed Kuala Lumpur at 12.41am on 8 March 2014. It was expected to land in Beijing at 6.30am the same day.

 

The flight was carrying 227 passengers (including 2 infants) and 12 crewmembers.

 

Malaysia Airlines is currently working with the authorities who have activated their Search and Rescue team to locate the aircraft.

 

Malaysian Airlines vice president of operations, Fuad Sharuji during an interview with CNN said that the aircraft should have run out of fuel by 8.30am Saturday morning as it only had seven hours of fuel on board.

 

In the interview with Anderson Cooper, Fuad explained that the flight which departed 41 minutes after midnight from Kuala Lumpur was supposed to have arrived in Beijing at 6.20am.

 

“However the plane carrying 239 passengers, of which 227 were passengers while 12 were crew members lost contact with the Subang Air Traffic Control at 2.40am.

 

“We have tried to track the flight down by getting in touch with nearby aircrafts and other radars along the route, but there is no luck as of now,” he said.

 

A report by CCTV news said 160 out of the 227 passengers were Chinese nationals and that China authorities are also in the process of searching for the missing flight.

Now coming from personal experience riding that very same plane before, it's quite an old aircraft to be honest. I'm not sure how updated their systems are but it feels like anything can go wrong in the aircraft.

 

I really do hope everyone in that plane is ok. I'm flying to Adelaide with that very same aircraft model next month. =(

They lost contact with the aircraft theoretically around that area.

I heard about this. Hopefully they're okay.

Oh no, those poor people Im personally terrified of planes, though I do like heights and the thought of flying.

That's the reason why I'm afraid of flying on a plane. But I don't have the money to do so anyway.

But yeah, I hope they are okay, but I doubt it.

I asked my aunt Lori (we call her aunt Lala) about taking me to Italy because she went there. But now that i've seen this, i'm not sure about planes anymore.

Whenever I hear these cases, plane crashes in the oceanowns/or 9/11 pops into mind.

 

I hope they're safe. I don't want to expect the worst.

Well , let's just hope they are all fine .

I know this is a terrible time but this is just screaming "Lost" well anyway my bet is it crashed in the jungles of vietnam

After almost 3 days and still no foundings of any of the plane wreckage or anything the like. The news where I'm at has been on repeat almost every hour now. This is probably going to be one of the most mysterious investigation in modern times. Plane disappears in mid-air, No wreckage and No communication from the plane to the control tower before the disappearance.

 

As of this morning March 10th:

 

- Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Australia, China, USA, and Thailand are currently helping in the effort to find the possible wreckage of the MH370 Boeing 777.

- Families of the victims are now over at the Airport awaiting for news while a Press Conference is held every hour or 30 minutes if there is any new findings.

- There's been news of stolen passports but no concrete evidence or agenda of it being a terrorist in the act.

 

There's been various public prayers from different religions around my city since we are a multi-cultural country. It's a rare scene to witness while I was at work today.

Once again, Condolences to friends and families of the victims of MH370.

This just gets more bizarre by the day. The real question is why? I've read dozens of reports claiming the flight was deliberately diverted...suicide on the pilot's part? Failed hijacking?

It's most likely a fire. This is evidenced by a lot of things the plane did, all of it standard procedure when dealing with a fire in flight. 

 

-First the pilot turns off all non essential electronics in order to reduce the likely hood of starting more fires from electrical issues (explains the communications and transponder being cut off) 

-The next thing the pilot does is climb to high altitude. The little oxygen in the upper atmosphere can help fight the fire. 

 

What happened after the plane flew to higher altitude is iffy because it made a dive and then another climb. However that can be attributed to the pilots losing and regaining control of the aircraft. Unfortunately, they were unable to stop the fire and the plane burned away, which would explain the lack of a final crash point being determined. 

 

A fire would also explain the little amount of debris and no bodies or survivors.. A failed hi-jacking or suicide would crash the plane intact and leave a lot of debris and possible corpses and even survivors making it out. A fire would burn away a lot of evidence and the evidence that didn't burn away sank to the bottom of the ocean.
