Akame Ga Kill a highly popular Manga that came out in 2010, finally has it's own anime adaptation for this year. Here is the teaser for it.

Akame ga Kill! (アカメが斬る! Akame ga Kiru!?, literally meaning "Red Eye Killer") is a Japanese shōnen manga series written by Takahiro and illustrated by Tetsuya Tashiro. It started serialization in Square Enix's Gangan Joker in March 2010. The story focuses on Tatsumi, a young villager who travels to the Capital to raise money for his home only to discover a strong corruption in the area. The assassin group Night Raid recruits the young man to help them in their fight against the Empire to finish its corruption.

I needed this picture in my life. The only thing that would make it better would be if it was a gif (or it already is and my phone won't let me see that)

Watches the fight where

Esdeath and Akame clash, and Esdeath summons an ice dagger. Well then ._.

Actually, there was another part of the ending that was incredibly stupid. I can't believe I forgot about this.

I thought you meant Akame's form for a moment. xD

Oh boy, it's been a while since I saw the ending... I do vaguely remember that, though. And yeah, that was kinda... Strange. I mean, aside from that and

Leone's sudden death

I thought it was a really good ending.

Yeah, the entire fight was pretty much 20% half assery. Especially the way it turned out for Esdeath.

I still think what happened at the very end of the fight was hilarious.

Esdeath just kinda casually walking over to Tatsumi as she's dying, then going and destroying his body along with hers. So much for respecting him. xD

I did like the fight though, aside from those minor issues. It was really tense. I was actually expecting that

Akame would die after activating her trump card, or that the fight would end with both dying.

The first thing is what really burns my ass. It just makes Esdeath look bad.

Also I doubt that

Akame would have died. I mean, first off, she's too OP to die even if she was fighting Esdeath, and second the half assery of her Trump Card would just bury it anyway.

Oh yeah, sorry I didn't specify lol. Akame's transformation was badass. That line though... It sounded so stupid when I read that. I guess I could pass it off as symbolism, but I can't tell for sure.

Oh well, only so much White Fox can do. There's a reason White Fox does adaptions only.

If this is what their MO for adaptations are, they better just stick to making their own crap.

Well, she kinda is a villain. :/ I can see what you mean, though.

Well, she cut herself with the Murasame. I figured she'd die after the power wore off. Also, come on, her Trump Card was cool.

It's fine. xD The image loaded really slowly for me, so I only saw the top for a while. I realized what you meant when the whole thing loaded and I saw the subtitles.

I'd assume it was symbolism. Or, at least I'll just imagine it was... It's just weird otherwise.

Just because she's a villain doesn't mean they have to

give her a crappy death that basically just writes her off as a Tatsumi fangirl more than the sadistic yet endearing powerhouse she is.

Cool doesn't mean that its logical. It still isn't.

Their Steins;Gate adaption was great imo.

They had to write their own ending in AgK since the manga wasn't there yet. I didn't have too much problems with the ending. I can see why you don't like it though.

Never seen it.

Also, "no manga content" isn't an excuse for bad writing.

You should watch it. :P

That's true, which is why I think they never made an original anime. Akame ga Kill was strange, because I don't think they expected to run out of manga content so quickly, so they threw that ending together. It could've been better of course.

Steins was great.

Akamae Ga Kill was a failure in my eyes. I was so hyped for this anime adaptation but it failed to become a great 2014 hit. See it wasn't them going a different route, but the fact they skipped like 10-15 chapters ahead then come back where they left off the in the anime was horrible.

Also I'm nit picking here, but Tatsumi Incursio "2nd" form in the anime was some what lame to me.

IT was cool I admit, but it didn't live up to the hype as I hopped for.

That WAS them going a different route if I'm not mistaken.

I worded it weirdly sorry for my fast typing.

I meant to say "it wasn't them going a different route, that made me angry"

So what you're saying is that them going a different route WAS what made you angry or is it something else?

  • Author

No it's them jumping back for no reason. I was all cool beanz with shows being "lets skip this many chapters, so and so" but I disliked it when they go backwards. So like that whole chapter skip thing was cool with me, but then they went backwards which didn't make sense to me.

But if your telling me them going backwards was part of teir "route" then "meh" at this point.

I just know that everything after the ending of 19 is basically filler.

  • 2 months later...

Well, after two months (really, it's only been two months? lol) after the end of the Akame Ga Kill anime... I am officially caught up with the Akame Ga Kill manga. That's right, I have read all 60 currently released chapters and am awaiting Chapter 61. (Also, I'm gonna get started on Akame Ga Kill Zero! soon, too.)

Just to wrap up what I felt from the manga as well as the content that wasn't included in the anime, here's a quick summary of my thoughts (spoilers, obviously):

Holy crap on a stick, the manga is better than the anime. lol I mean really, all the gripes I had from the anime (sans the Akame VS Kurome fight) were extinguished in the manga, mostly because some things were done better (i.e. Lubba's death, Run, Syura, Wild Hunt, Budou in general, Mine VS Budou, Akame VS Esdeath) as well as the stuff that wasn't included (Run's fate/backstory, all the battles, Tatsumi's upgrade for Incursio, Kurowave action, anything involving Dorothea, Izou, and Syura in Wild Hunt (including the first two's well done deaths in the recent chapters) and more).

As for the story right now: I'm glad that Mine was put in a coma instead of being fully dead after her fight with Budou. It helps better as motivation for Tatsumi and his current arc with Incursio and his limited ability. Also Lubba and Syura went out in a fashion I wasn't expected (though I was somewhat spoiled that Lubba would get one of his balls crushed. Yikes), but still, I'm glad that both were able to go out on a strong note. Also, Budou is a complete monster. Unlike Anime!Budou who's just a complete push-over in comparison. Just like Anime!Syura. Also, I'm curious to how Kurome using Run as one of her puppets is going to play out.

I guess you can say we're sort of in a episodic-type structure right now. I mean, things are happening, the Revolutionaries are making their way towards taking down the Empire. but again, it feels like the standard "assassination of the day" formula that's been going on since the beginning, minus of course the occasional death/power-up/"boss battle"/major story development. Still, I think that once things get more closer and closer to the day that the Revolutionary Army takes their stand against the Empire and Night Raid has a chance to take down Onest and the rest of the higher-ups, we'll move into a more central arc-type setting, where shit is really going to hit the fan.
