Kingdom Hearts: The Pit (RP)

Near the end of the Keyblade War, there was a great battle in Twilight Canyon, a special place that, although few had ever considered it significant, was home to a weak point in the barrier that separated the Realm of Light from the Realm of Darkness. Now two armies charge at each other in the valley, intent on defeating their enemies. This is where the great story of "The Pit" begins.

Max's blood began racing as he charged toward the enemy, ready to destroy the dastardly followers of darkness before him. Time seemed to slow as he came closer and closer to the enemy. Finally, one of the soldiers came within striking distance, so he summoned his keyblade, Explosive Justice, and attacked the soldier.

[Why did I sign up this?] Blight asked himself. There were plenty of ways to make money during a war. He could have sold weapons, or worked as a guard while most of the other able bodied fighters were away. But no, he'd been dumb enough to actually enlist in this stupid war! And now here he was, in the middle of a battle, guns blazing, fighting for his life!  He continued to shoot at the enemy soldiers from behind a large rock, hoping that no one would decide to attack him anytime soon.

(All right folks, let's start this RP off with a bang! Feel free to battle anyone who's not on your side, and have fun!)

It wasn't long before Nightwing Squad reached the summit of a nearby mountain. They surveyed the surroundings, and came to the same conclusion: They're not in Kansas anymore They're not in the warzone anymore, and the sight of the white, pale, dead trees in the distance below them sent shivers down their backs. "So... Now what?" Raven asked as he cast a cure spell on everyone. "I'm not saying I wanna go back into the firefight, but I wanna know what happens now?"

Hawk was messing with his tactical pad that was on his armored left arm. "Guys? I can't communicate with our gummi ship at all. Can any of you see the Warden?"

Everyone squinted their eyes as they tried to spot anything in the distance resembling their ship, but it didn't help that one, the sky and the ground below were black for the most part, and two, their gummi ship was painted black. raven laughed at their predicament. "Kiwi? This is the last time we're listening to you on custom painting. 'Black is so awesome' you said, 'Black is totally rad' you said. I knew we should have gone with my idea of White and blue..."

"Hey!" The buttmunchie retorted, "In my defense, c'mon, admit it! Black and red is totally awesome! Am I right? Huh guys? huh?"

Sparrow and Hawk snickered. "He does have a point" the leader added, "It did look awesome."

"You're not helping" Raven giggled. "Anyways, we should send out another flare. Hawk?"

"Way ahead of you, buddy." Shadowhawk summoned his keyblade and pointed the blade towards the sky. The tip of the weapon glowed a brilliant white as a ball of

light formed slightly above it. A moment later, the ball of light shot off into the dark sky, lighting their immediate surrounding for a while before it got really high up into the sky. "Lets hope someone friendly sees that."

Friends?  Admittedly friends were something that Ari had no experience with, yet they better ensured her chances of survival, especially now that they were in a foreboding and unfamiliar place.  Power indeed had proved himself, yet she'd previously been warned not to trust the enemy.  Befriending them was probably a major no-no in the book of rules on the battlefront, but since when had she been a goodie-goodie and lived up to the rules?  Never, to be precise, and she figured what would it hurt in being friends for now?  She could always change her mind later.

"I'm going to be new to this whole 'friends' thing, you see," replied Ari, dusting her leather-armored shoulder with a semi-gloved hand.  "But while we're here, well, why not?  I was impressed by what you did back there, and right now I'd much rather be on this end of the flames."  Once her arm was fully healed the raven-haired woman flexed her arm, giving it a quick glance over before nodding.  "You have my thanks, Power."

She took a few steps away from the two, eyes scanning her surroundings.  Everything looked dead and barren, with no escape looking promising from any direction.  Of course, she didn't long to return to the battlefield.  All that she was really after was obtaining a fabled power that could revive her long-fallen half sister, but now her path had been diverged.  "For starters, we should find out where we are on the map, and then figure out what the 'eck needs to be done to get out of here."  Her eyes moved towards her fellow dark companion, Braxen.  "What do you know about this land, hmm?  Is this something you've learned or heard of from our master's teachings?"

(I hope that it was alright that I assumed Braxen and Ari shared the same master/leader/commander.  I figured since they were both fighting on the dark side that this would be so, but if not please do let me know and I'll edit my post accordingly.)

(That does sound like an interesting character connection, but I was thinking that Braxen never met Ari before. Wait, I've got a way to make both of those things true.)

Day 1

Remaining Survivors: 782

"What are you talking about?" Braxen paused for a minute before remembering reading a letter from his master a few months ago about his new apprentice. "Wait a second, are you the new pupil Master Mason wrote to me about? Cool! What did he say about me? Good things, or bad? He didn't mention that little mix up we had with that tribe in the jungle, did he? That was awkward to say the least." Chills raced down Braxen's spine just thinking about. "Wait, what were we talking about again? Oh yeah, if I heard anything about this place before. I'm afraid not. I was never very good at geography."

Max rolled his eyes at Braxen, "It's got to be the realm of darkness. It's the only known place where there's a moon this big. It signifies the daytime, and at night, there's nothing but pure darkness. The thing is, I've read about the Realm of Darkness, and it doesn't look anything like this. Well, not as far as I can tell. No matter, it shouldn't be too hard to get back. Soldiers of darkness, it's been fun trying to kill you all, but I must be going. Another time perhaps." Max said, and summoned his keyblade. He tried to make a corridor of light, much like he had over a hundred times before, but for some reason, it didn't work. "Strange... I haven't failed to make a corridor of light in years. I don't remember reading about this sort of thing happening in the Realm of Darkness." He then turned towards Power, annoyed and a little confused. [One moment he's trying to kill this girl, Ari, and the next he's flirting with her. What's with this guy? Bipolar perhaps?] he thought, but then decided to worry about it later.

As Max continued to talk, Rain noticed a flair appear from a small mountain, more like a large hill really, nearby. She thought about telling Max, but she could tell he was busy worrying about where they were and how to deal with the soldiers of darkness. Instead, she slipped away from the group while most of them weren't looking, and headed towards the origin point of the flair.

Penny flipped the hair out of her face after being knocked back by the shield, and nearly laughed when she saw Claire cast a fire spell, which clearly wasn't her specialty. [Hmph, must be a jack of all trades magic user.] she thought, and easily dodged the flames coming towards her. "Hah, you call that a fire spell? This is a fire spell!" she shouted, and shot a bigger and faster moving fire ball at Claire. So far, Penny was so engrossed in the battle that she barely noticed the change in location. As far as she could tell, neither did Claire.

"Thanks for accepting my friendship," Power said with a huge grin, "Now, let me do recon from the sky above!"

Glad to see that Ari's not hurt anymore, Power flew up high to see if there's any distinct landmarks he make out.

Besides oblivious huge moon. he sees nothing. He searched again...nothing. Until something caught his eye, a dark lake bed that looks like to be few miles off.

"OK," Power said. "I think I see a lakebed off in the distance. Let's go meet up with the others. Do you think you can make it to the others?"

Claire's reflexes moved her shield arm fast enough to block the fire ball. The spell flowed over the shield and scorched her left arm, but the rest of it vented around her.

"Still unimpressed." Claire said through gritted teeth.

She dashed forward, intent on slashing through Penny, but something was way off. Her chest hurt from something. At the last second, she dodged to the side from her charge and looked around. Everything was different.

"Where have you taken us?" Claire demanded, pointing her Keyblade at Penny.

laix "the realm of darkness... i never seen so munch darkness in one place before"

he turns to max

"well do you got any plan at the moment? if this place is made of darkness it would be best to move."

"Hm... it would probably be best to get to some higher ground so that we can see any approaching enemies before they get to us. But first, there's something else that needs to be done." Max said to Iaix, and then looked at the three keybladers of darkness standing before him, Braxen, Ari, and Minus. "You three seem to be about as confused about this situation as we are. Before I let any of you out of our sight, I need you to promise me that you'll be willing to stop fighting us until we find a way out of here. If you all agree, I promise I won't start a fight with any of you either."

Braxen shrugged his soldiers, "Sure, I'm sure they'll be plenty of enemy monster's heads to bash while we're here anyway." Braxen had already tried to summon a corridor of darkness himself, as well as use his keyblade glider, and neither of them worked.

Meanwhile, Rain finally made it to the top of the hill, where she saw what looked to be a squad of keyblade wielding soldiers of light. "Um.. hey." she said the four young men, "Were you the ones who shot up the flare? What's wrong?"

Minus listened to the back and forth chatter of the people around her. None of it concerned her, so she didn't participate. Instead, she focused on the environment around her. It was clearly the realm of darkness. She could feel it. So much darkness in one place, it gave her chills. A brilliant, exciting kind of chills. Hearing Max's question, Minus piped up for the first time in a while. "Whatever. Just don't cross me." She said.

~~~~
"Brilliant question." A male voice said near Claire. Reni sidled up next to the warrior of light. "Been trying to figure that out while you two young ladies went at each other's throats." Rene wasn't happy about the change in venue. He had been on his way to a nearby city. Now though, he was stuck here, most likely at least. And he wasn't even part of the battle that initiated this. That little fact made him kind of mad, but not too much. Reni didn't get mad much anymore. He didn't have a reason, being exiled, without his friends, family, all gone.
~~~~~

Quint stood. He had been in the middle of battle with the dark gunslinger. Then they had been transported here. He looked around, taking in his surroundings, analyzing each detail. Especially that large moon. Quint turned to Blight. "I do believe we're in the Realm of Darkness. Might you have any idea how we got here?" Quint kept his voice neutral, not mad. He would be accusing, but his former enemy seemed just as confused as he.

"No promises, lad," said Ari in response to Max's plea for peace.  "I might pretend to be your friend and send my Keyblade straight through your chest in the night"--her serious expression cracked, and a smirk spread across her face--"or I might not.  It depends on how mad you make me, and what you try to feed me.  So long as it's not scorpions, lima beans, and you don't try to waste your time flattering me, you should be safe in my book."

The woman then turned to her fellow comrade, Braxen. "Indeed I am a new pupil of Master Mason's, though I'm afraid that he hasn't uttered even a single word about you.  I only assumed that we share the same master because we are both waging this war, and we both lean towards the side of darkness.  But don't sweat it; fight like Power here and I'll never forget you."  Personally, she thought it would be rather interesting to see the two fight and compete for her attention; she was so bad at times.The news of the nearby lakeside sounded promising to Ari.  At least it was a positive direction forward, something which was better than what they had presently.  She started to move in that direction before pausing dead in her tracks, whipping around to face the fire-friendly light wielder.  "Hold on, others, you say?  What kind of others?  If you mean your friends then you can forget it; I'm on a mission, and it isn't to befriend every light soldier that can hold a gigantic key."

Meanwhile, Rain finally made it to the top of the hill, where she saw what looked to be a squad of keyblade wielding soldiers of light. "Um.. hey." she said the four young men, "Were you the ones who shot up the flare? What's wrong?"

With a clear view of the distant horizon and the descending terrain below them, Nightwing Squad was semi-vigilant in immediate security as they tried to figure out where they were. With their leader guarding their rear that had long sights and clear visibility for quite a distance, Sparrow was able to relax for a bit and recollect his thoughts. "So... one moment, we're entrenched on a battlefield between the realms of light and dark, and then a loud wooshing noise, some over-manly tears, and now here we are." He lowered his rifle and turned around to face his squad who were looking at their designated directions. "This doesn't look like the realm of light to me. It's dark, it's scary, and not a single scantily clad cute girl in sight. Anyone wanna confirm my suspicions?"

Kiwi giggled as he continued looking down the sight of his arrow-rifle with a menacing demeanor down the mountain. "For a realm of light, this is a bummer. No girls, no beach, no light, so we must be on the opposite side."

"Really guys?" Raven interjected, "Can we not think about girls in bikinis for a while? It's all quiet, and I don't see anyone. Did we do it? Did we won the battle?"

Hawk's aim towards the distant petrified trees was unmoved as he chimed in to the conversation. "I don't think we won the battle, Raven. It's dark, it's damp, it's cold... I'd say we're on the other side. As in, deeper behind the enemy lines."

Sparrow audibly gulped as he tried to wrap his around the new predicament. "Contact!" he heard Hawk bark to the team, "It's a girl coming up the mountain! Allegiance unknown!"

"Hold fire!" the leader ordered as he raised a fist up to the group. "She doesn't look like she's gonna murder us. Lets wait and see." The entire team had their weapons down, but was on edge as the girl approached them.  "Were you the ones who shot up the flare? What's wrong?" she asked.

"Yes, that was us." Sparrow replied on behalf of the team. "Judging by the fact you haven't tried to attack us yet, we'll be fair and not do the same to you. What's your name? We don't know what's going on, and it's painfully obvious we're not on the battlefields anymore. Can you tell us where we are, and where the front lines are?"

((sorry I've been away, work and all))

Mara lay unconscious from the fall she had just taken, it had felt as if the ground had given way and swallowed her hole the last thing she remembered was meeting a strange young man who seemed to be running from something or someone and then before she knew it she was surrounded by darkness as she fell into it. Suddenly Mara woke up *where am I?* she asked herself as she picked herself off the ground still a little dazed and confused, she tried to regain her composure and check herself for any injuries, fortunately the thing she saw was the cut on her ribs she received when she was caught off guard by a lone ambush. It was bleeding but it wasn't severe, she could leave it alone for now. The girl looked and found herself on a ledge surrounded by mountains with nothing but the light of the moon overhead to keep her company.

"They're not really 'friends'," Power said, "I happened to ran into them. I can try to persuade them to trust me to let you into the group."

Power just knows he can make her see the light but he has to find out how.

"Anyway," he continues, "What's this mission of yours?"

laix wasted no time on his response

"agreed. by the way my name is laix."

his keyblade armer was disengaged reveling a black coat.

(Just so everyone knows, I'm in charge of the locations in the Realm of Darkness, so I'd appreciate if no one makes up new locations to go to without my consent, in order to keep things organized. I never mentioned a dark lake, so for now, there is no dark lake. Also, I recommend that everyone read the last two paragraphs, regardless of what groups your characters are in.)

"Well, I'm not sure, but I think it's the realm of darkness. Funny thing is, it seems people are having trouble making corridors of light and darkness, so we can't get out. Any ideas on what to do next?" Rain asked the group of rather handsome young men.

***

"Well, unless you have any way of helping us, get out of our way. We've got... er... business to attend to." Penny said hastily to Reni, her keyblade still drawn. Penny was never fond of ending a fight until the other person was either defeated, or surrendering.

***

"Heh, how should I know? I've never even been here before." Blight replied to Quint, not quite sure whether to keep fighting or call it a draw. "Well, whoever did this hasn't heard the last of me, that's for sure." he said, acting more confidently than he felt.

***

"Well then, we should probably get going." Max said, "We'll have the advantage in a fight if we take the high ground, so we'll head towards those mountains. Any objections?"

"Yeah, I've got a couple." Braxen said, "I don't know about you guys, but I'm hungry, and those mountains don't look like they have a lot of food. Let's go towards the forest instead." While Braxen said this, he pondered what Ari had just said. She mentioned that she merely assumed that they shared the same master, but that didn't make any sense, since there were so many different keyblade masters with the forces of darkness. Either his master had talked about him to Ari, and she didn't want Braxen asking what she knew about him, or the two of them didn't share the same master. Either way, she had lied straight to his face, and he didn't like that. He decided to leave the matter be, and worry about it later.

"Your opinion is appreciated Braxen, but the woods will likely be crawling with monsters. It could be suicide walking in there." Max replied, a little annoyed that someone disagreed with him already.

"Look, I'll do whatever, but if we all starve, I'm blaming you." Braxen told Max, and noticed something a little out of place. Earlier, the ground beneath him had looked dark, but now it was pitch black, despite the moon shining above them.

In fact the ground under everyone's feet was black now, except for those that had wandered away from the main group, such as Rain and the Nightwing Squad.

Edited by Captain Arrowguns

Claire eyed both Penny and Reni, trying to position herself to defend against both of them, if necessary.

"Saying I believe that neither of you did this." She said, not sounding convinced. "Then how did we get here?"

"Well, I'm not sure, but I think it's the realm of darkness. Funny thing is, it seems people are having trouble making corridors of light and darkness, so we can't get out. Any ideas on what to do next?" Rain asked the group of rather handsome young men.

In fact the ground under everyone's feet was black now, except for those that had wandered away from the main group, such as Rain and the Nightwing Squad.

"Great..." Sparrow sighed, "We never knew how to summon portals anyways, so that doesn't change a thing. But... Since you said the Realm of Darkness, it's nice to get someone else to confirm our suspicions." Everyone visibly slumped a little with the heartbreaking confirmation.

Any ideas on what to do next?" The girl asked.

"Well miss... we were hoping you would have an idea on how to get out of here."

Kiwi's voice was shockingly child-like as he whimpered what the team was thinking. "I wanna go home."

"We all do" Raven calmly added, "But for now, we gotta stay calm and think things through. It worked for us before, it can work again."

The opportunity was golden for Kiwi as he jokingly collapsed onto his knees and screamed "We're all gonna die!"

"For crying out loud, Kiwi!" Hawk snickered, "You're not helping!"

"Since when was I ever?"

"He has a point." Sparrow nonchalantly remarked. "Munchie here never helps when we need it most..."

"Hey!"

"I'm messing with ya mate! So... Look around, boy! There's gotta be some place to start so we can all get back home." As the team narrowed their eyes and started scanning the horizon, Sparrow glanced over at the girl. "By the way, I never caught your name. Since you're not attacking us and we have a common objective here, Might as well get to know each other a little. I'm Nightsparrow. What's yours?"

[i'll leave it to the RP host to describe the surroundings]

((Guess ill start now.))

Locket had been transported to the Realm of Darkness, and now looked with wide eyes as she scanned her surroundings. A chill curled up her spine as she realized where she was, and with no group, she felt isolated and exposed. I need to get moving... She thought as she took a step forward. She summoned her Keyblade in case anyone—or anything—attacked her.

((Did I kill this..?))

((Did I kill this..?))

(No, you're fine. It's just slow right now it seems. Don't worry though, I've got a feeling things are about to pick up.)

"How would I know?" Penny asked in responce to Claire. She was getting annoyed at the whole situation, but there was something else too, she was afraid. She refused to let it show, but she couldn't shake the feeling this place couldn't lead to anything good.

***

"Oh, I'm Rain. I'm a soldier of light like you." Rain said to the Nightwing squad. She then noticed a couple of the squad members gazing at their surroundings, and began to take everything in as well. To their left and behind them was a forest mostly made up of dead trees, and to their right was a swamp. In front of them was craggy field dotted in caves. Encircling everything was a ridiculously high range of mountains. acting as a massive wall. From where Rain stood, she couldn't spot any way to get past it, except for possibly going over, which seemed like a truly dangerous task. However, the mountains on every side seemed to be miles away.

Suddenly she noticed how dark the ground looked beneath everyone else beneath her. It didn't take long for her confusion to change to terror, however, when something truly unexpected happened. Hundreds, if not thousands, of little shining yellow dots appeared on the ground. They would often disappear and then reappear, as well as move around from time to time. "Are those... eyes?" Rain asked, frightened for the first time since she'd realized she wasn't on the battlefield anymore.

For some reason it surprised Ari that food was the first thing that came to Braxen's mind.  There were many qualms that Ari could determine from scaling the mountain, though food wasn't the prime one.  "Truthfully, I'm a bit more concerned about becoming a meal myself rather than catching one up there," she commented.  "I mean, who knows what might be waiting up there?  What's worse is that it could be filled with all sorts of endless traps, as this place seems it could be built up of them."

But alas, Ari knew that Max was probably right: scaling the mountain was likely in their best interests, even if risks were involved.  It was a risk trusting this little band of Keyblade wielders at all, but since Braxen and Minus found it safe to follow she couldn't help but do the same.  She could always abandon them later, and she hardly felt bad for thinking such, even if she did fancy Power and Braxen.

Ari then began to make a motion towards the mountains in the distance, adjusting her satchel and taking her first steps in that direction.  It wasn't long, however, before she noticed the ground was considerably darker than it had been previously, and she couldn't help but question the reason behind this.  "Um, people?  Is it just me, or is something really wrong with this picture?  The ground, it--it's not right."

* * * * * *

Shivering, a young teen wandered the Realm of Darkness, alone and confused.  Her thoughts were a jumbled mess, and she had no recollection whatsoever of entering this foreboding place.  A brilliant moon shone above her, with the strangest of darkened landscapes around for as far as the eye could meet.  Deadened trees, mountains in the distance--no landmarks that the young girl could recognize, and for the first time in a grand long while, she felt . . . fear.

This doesn't make sense, Elia thought, clenching and unclenching a fist.  She was clad in dark armor, something that she knew with all certainly that she hadn't sported, along with the bow slung across her body and the quiver of arrows attached to her back.  Of course, this isn't to say that she wasn't grateful for either of these things: in fact, having them in a foreign atmosphere was rather welcoming.  Elia proceeded to make her way down the darkened realm, until she noticed the ground move below her.  Staring down, the young adolescent nearly jumped out of her skin when a pair of yellow glowing eyes stared right back, and much to Elia's horror more continued to form and surround her.  Immediately she summoned the aid of her bow and arrow, but she knew such attacks would be fruitless against so many of these dark creatures.  Unless someone swooped down to her aid, and soon, she had a feeling that this wouldn't end well.

Locket looked down at the dark ground to see if there were anything useful, but instead wound up jumping in the air and screaming rather loudly like a little girl. She hit her head with her palm. "Locket you idiot!" She said to herself. "What if someone heard you?!" Then she shook her head and stared down, seeing the dots move. Eyes..?

A scream pierced the air and broke into Elia's thoughts.  Another person is here? she thought, somewhat hopeful that she wasn't alone.  While she didn't wish this upon anyone, she did much prefer the idea of not being entirely alone in this darkened place.  Her blue eyes scanned the area, when she finally identified a figure in the distance.  The ground was also dark over by this newfound stranger, and another one of these dark creatures began to form from behind this person.  Forgetting about her own danger momentarily, Elia notched an arrow in her bow, focusing on this creature with eery yellow eyes.  "Watch out!" Elia cried, letting her arrow fly and pierce the creature behind Locket.

Locket gasped and stepped sideways, watching the sudden arrow pierce through the creature. Locket watched as it dissapeared with an eerie black smoke. "Wha..." She looked at where the arrow came from and gasped in suprise. Might as well help them... She thought and gripped her Keyblade as she sprinted towards the creatures surrounding Elia.

The dark-haired young teen smiled and offered Locket a slight nod.  "I'm not sure what that weapon is, but it looks helpful.  Thank you.  Let's take care of these menacing things and then move on to introductions, shall we?  My magic isn't strong enough to destroy these creatures, but I can help you take them down."  Elia then extended her hand, eyes closed and chanting an incantation.  Her fingertips glowed an orangey color, and with a wave of her hand a shimmer of sunset-orange fragments showered upon the Shadows.  The Shadows jerked and jumped about, some attacking one another while others wandered in circles.  Elia had placed a confusion spell upon them, which would distract them well enough for other attacks to be launched upon them.

Locket nodded and jumped in the air, and as she landed destroyed a few heartless. She struck a few others and more, slightly panting from the adrenaline rush. She finally destroyed the last ones and placed her hands on her knees. "That was fun." She said. "My name is Locket." She straightened and held out her hand for a handshake.
